Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

I got this for my wife and she is in love with this vacuum. It works just like described in the description. From the knowledgeable staff at Best Buy that answered all my questions to checkout and bringing it home was great. This is amazing!

Honest 9 Month Review & Tips on Solving Problems

The following observations are based on my 5-years of using the Roomba 980 followed by 9 months using the Roomba S9+ in a clean mature 2-person household with one elderly dog that’s consistently groomed in a home with a relatively simple floor plan: 1 The S9+ is the best of its generation and will thoroughly clean your rugs and floors, no question! Only use genuine filters and bags or dust will be on all your furniture. 2 The S9+ looks for changes in your completed house map. If it gets confused during a cleaning, it might reshape your map. This can cause it to get stuck every day thereafter. Delete the map and retrain the robot every 2-3 months as needed, PROBLEM SOLVED??? 3 The S9+ empties its bin but seldom starts, even when the rollers and sensor are clean and the, dust bin is empty and there’s a day-old filter and day-old tower bag installed. Pop out the filter, then vacuum the underside with another vacuum cleaner, it will run that day, PROBLEM SOLVED?! 4 The rollers on both vacuums accumulate hair that leads to poor performance. A razor style envelope opener will quickly remove the hair, PROBLEM SOLVED! 5 The recessed dirt sensor near the rollers may prevent the S9+ from starting even when it’s nearly clean after evacuating into the tower. Remove the rollers to access the sensor area. Clean it with a fine brush, then stretch tape over the entire sensor recess to seal it off, PROBLEM PERMANENTLY SOLVED! There are more frustrations with this “luxury product”. But if you’re still reading and contemplating getting one, buy it from a store with a good return policy. I believe this to be the best of its generation. However, it’s frustrating to own and it’s been around long enough to assume that if IROBOT could fix its quirks, they would have already.

This is our second roomba. I have it set to vacuum everyday, (we have 3 dogs and 2 kids) it works great, is a little better than the i7 series. The only reason i didn’t give it 5 stars is I. Learning the floor plan it goes over our floor grated for the air conditioning and has worn out 2 sets of it’s rollers already.

Horrible. We bought 2 and they both couldn’t complete their mapping runs and keep getting stuck on flat surfaces (telling us they were on uneven surfaces).

I would expect more for the price. Does a good job of actually vacuuming but EXTREMELY loud and does not go where you program it to go. Initial setup and run creates a map of your rooms, hallways, etc. Then you can create jobs and specify the rooms and areas you want to have vacuumed but this machine will go wherever it wants and does not follow your programs. It is super loud and when it empties the lint/dirt it picks up into the bin, it sounds like a jet plane taking off. Not worth the money unless they can fix the programming issue. Plus as it runs, you can’t see what room or rooms it has already completed.

We made this purchase a month ago and it has changed the way we view cleaning. We were constantly vacuuming and sweeping dog and cat hair and with the schedule it makes things a lot easier so we can spend more time with the kids and pets. Wonderful product.

This has been the perfect solution for our house. We have an Australian Shepherd who sheds A LOT. This vacuum is able to switch from hard floor to our rugs. Love the self disposing feature. Works great, better than we expected. Just what we needed.

I have 5 dogs and 2 cats currently in my house. Every single one of them sheds. One is poofy so you can imagine what my house used to look like. I haven’t had to vacuum my main level in weeks. My husband and I both work full time and then some, so keeping up can become really difficult. It is so refreshing to come home to a clean house every day. It does exactly what it advertises, and the app is phenomenal. I was hesitant to buy due to the price tag but it is so well worth it if you can afford it. The rubber brushes also rarely need cleaning like the older models. And *hint* you can reuse the bags if you’re willing to take some pliers and pull all the crap out when it’s full. They’re really well made so it doesn’t seem to damage them when you do that. Probably not recommended I’m sure, but I did it anyway. Even if you don’t, the bags aren’t expensive and they last a few weeks. Total game changer. Just get it already.

I bought my Roomba on the 1st of September. Now it’s the first week of June and it doesn’t work properly. There’s either an undocking issue, it thinks it’s falling, it can’t find the base, or it thinks the brushes/bag/filter needs replacing. Of course, I have cleaned it numerous times and replaced the filter, etc. It still doesn’t want to work. So I rebooted it. Rebooting worked that one time but not again. Im going to call iRobot to see if they can help me but I wanted to write this review first. A $1000 machine should last more than 9 months.

Does a great job of vacuuming. Do need to prep home prior to use to prevent robot from getting caught in electric cords, lost sock under the bed...etc. Only issue so far is that I have some dead wifi areas in my home and the robot gets lost and cannot find home when it is in those areas. Is expensive.

Gets every nook and cranny. We have a dog that sheds all year long and it does a fantastic job with the hair. We returned the i7 because it wasn’t as thorough. This iRobot does great with thick and thin carpet as well as hard floors. Highly recommended!

My wife purchased this 12/14, worked great until 12/27, then popped up with error 31 and the " red ring " within 5 minutes of starting. Not stuck , just in the middle of the floor. Rebooted 2-3 times , still did the same thing. Did the same day after day. She called the company and they admitted there was a software problem and would send a new one with upgraded software & app? They did say they were back ordered for quite some time and when she said she wasn't satisfied with the wait, they offered to send an I7 loaner in about 4 days until he S9 could be replaced. Overall pretty good customer service call. It should be since this is a very pricey product. Hopefully the replacement S9 won't need replacing as well . When it did work, it was amazing! Picked up dog hair and dust like crazy! Very happy until it had issues

Cleans well and definitely worth the money to help lighten the load of daily vacuuming. Only complaint is that it would require supervision the first few uses until it learns the map, so it doesn't get stuck or lock itself in rooms.

This is my third robot vacuum and the first that I would recommend regardless of the situation, house, or individual. Is it an investment? Yes. But the dang thing empties itself (and does it well). Navigation is the best I’ve seen with iRobot.

Does everything you want it to. Only problem is that you can't move the docking unit to another floor of the house, nor can you just pick up the roomba and put it on another floor of the house to vacuum. Only way around that is to clear out your floor plan that it has been working on to master and start over again. Still would recommend.

Had some issues getting it to map my floor.. moved it a few times and it started to work like a charm. Overall this thing is awesome gets more dirt than you would expect. *note: it struggles with lose rugs/carpets, tends to roll them up. But if that dont bother you. Then I would get it.
