Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

I really wanted to love this vacuum, but after spending hours and hours troubleshooting errors, I finally gave up on it. It would go anywhere from a few seconds to 4 hours before stopping and announcing an error (error 31).
I thought it may have been the one I ended up with, so I returned it and bought another one - same problems. I called Roomba and was told that a lot of people have been complaining of these errors, and they suggested going with a different model and said something about Covid being the reason that they haven't been able to fix the bugs in the software.
I cannot recommend this at all, and it is shocking that a company would release their top of the line product with this many problems.

When it works, it works well. Have had problems with it thinking it is "stuck" even in the middle of the floor with nothing around. Then it aborts the job. Have done online trouble shooting and reboot, with same results. Next stop is to work with ROOMBA customer service. I guess I expected not to have these sorts of issues 3 weeks after purchasing their flagship unit for over $1000.

I love having a robot to do the dirty work. The last Roomba I owned was not as effective. Left crumbs like Hansel and Gretel. This version is a powerhouse. I have a Malanois, Mane Coon, and British short hair. All shed as if they get paid to. The Roomba knocks out their hair drifts like a snowplow.

The 980 version is much better. This version is quieter and empties itself. Love those features but that's where the love ends. This guy cannot transition from hardwood to area rugs well at all. Leaves chunks of dog hair/rug particles at the edge of every rug. It goes over the same spots towards the end of its job, over and over and over and over. So the clean job seems to never end. After using it for 2 months, it still doesn't seem to understand my floor plan. The 980 model learned my floor plan much faster so it completed the job faster and left no residue anywhere at any time. This version is a bummer. And it empties into a bag which you have to change frequently because the bags are so small. They are not reusable so there is the added cost of buying bags. I just don't see this as an improvement over the 980 version. Definitely not worth the bigger price tag.

We love our new robot and named him Ruprecht. So much smarter than the first generation robot vacuums (which were just dusters). App integration is very useful and you can set boundaries without having to buy those things that kept older robots out of certain places. Vacuuming out floors every day is like living in a fancy hotel with daily maid service.

After much research and product reviews rating the s9+ very favorable, I decided to spend the higher price point for a iRobot. OMG WAS I WRONG!!! Purchased the s9+ in Feb 2021 and "Florida - aka s9+" worked great for only two months!! Afterwards would receive app messages stating error 31, unable to connect to the cloud or unable to start. Finally talking to iRobot technical support, they inform me "Florida" has board issues and they will send me a replacement.
Really....a brand new top of line iRobot works for 2 months and breaks down!!! While iRobot support was willing to "replace" ...my luck it will be a refurbished piece of junk that works for only 2 months.
I brought my mother the inexpensive irobot 675 ($199) several years ago and Mr Belvedere is still going strong with no issues. Save your money and avoid the s9+!!

Good Job Cleaning with Smart Maps & Careful Drive

Although it took time to complete creating a smart map of our house, we find the smart maps feature useful to clean the house with the rooms or areas we need. We like the Careful Drive setting that iRobot does not touch any wall or objects on the ground so that it will not damage the wall or furniture when it cleans the floor.

Did anyone actually test this? I owned two I7+’s but recently exchanged one of them for the S9+. Long story short, it simply cannot handle rugs/carpets. In my living room I have a medium-length shag rug that my I7 handled with relative ease, but the S9 spends about 10 seconds on it before shutting off & telling me to “clear the brushes.” It can’t even clean my kitchen runner and instead pushes it together. I’d imagine these issues have to do with the S9’s combination of low ground clearance and lack of front wheels. If so, this is a fundamentally flawed product that isn’t likely to be fixed with updates.
A few more issues: the top lid looks great, but the latch is flimsy and cheap. Earlier this morning, the S9 stopped its training run and returned to home base before telling me to “close the lid.” It was closed the entire time.
Finally, the corner brush was completely mangled after a single training run.
As a young customer new to IRobot, this experience has been very discouraging. As of now, it seems I spent $1300+ on what is a dolled-up, incompetent version of the I7+
Will speak with IRobot and update my review appropriately. For now, go with the I7. Also be sure to read other “most recent” reviews several people are having similar problems.
