Waste of money!

Roomba S9 poor warranty service

Been waiting on repair parts for 1 month already and am told by tech support that it will be another 2 months before parts are available. Buyer beware!!

Big problems with the mapping
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First the good: The Roomba s9+ cleans well. We have a lot of pet hair, and it handles it pretty well. The self-emptying feature works very well. It has some trouble with oriental rugs, and sometimes gets stuck under a sofa, but for the most part it handles our many obstacles reasonably well. The battery life is good -- it will clean for up to about two hours, recharge for about an hour and a half, and then resume cleaning. Now the bad: This model is supposed to be one of the smartest robot vacuum cleaners, but it doesn't seem like it. It often seems to just wander around and bump into things. It will sometimes keep going back to the same place over and over, and doesn't seem very systematic or efficient in the way it goes through the house. That's all frustrating to watch, but not really a big deal; it does means it takes a long time to make a full cleaning run. For our area of something like 2000 square feet (less that that, taking all the clutter, etc., into account), it worked for over 13 hours and still wasn't completely finished. The most serious problems, though, are related to the mapping capability. The ability to make a map and then be able to specify which rooms to clean is very promising and a big part of the reason to get such an expensive model. However, we were very disappointed with it. The Roomba gets seriously confused about where it is sometimes, so we would get a map that has weird tunnels sticking out from rooms, which shouldn't be there. One time, it was trying to dock itself to recharge, but to get to the dock it was trying to go through a wall. It thought the dock was there, but in fact it was in a completely different part of the house. Making this situation much worse is that the iRobot Home app doesn't allow any flexibility in choosing what to include in your Smart Map. If the Roomba makes a run that includes one of the weird features, you can't tell it not to include that run in the Smart Map. All you can do is start over from scratch with building a new map. Extremely frustrating. I started over with the mapping probably six times and concluded that we were never going to get a good map. I was told by customer service that they are working on a fix (not sure exactly what kind of fix, but I think to the problem of getting confused and generating weird maps), but they did not have an estimate for when it would be available. So we decided to give up and return it (Best Buy is really good about that). We figured, if we are going to have those kinds of problems, we might as well have them with a less-expensive machine. One last thing I will mention is that I could not even view the maps on my inexpensive Android phone (Samsung Galaxy J3). Luckily, I was able to view and work with them on a Samsung tablet, but it was inconvenient not to be able to do it on my phone.

It would just not run for more than 10 minutes - after which it would just stop, display a red ring and give an 'error 31' alert prompting me to reboot. Tried changing wireless to 2.4Hz, rebooting the device multiple times, removing and re-adding the device to app, changing the position of base station, connecting to another wifi router, resetting the device etc etc. NOTHING worked. So disappointed. Hard to believe irobot cant fix these bugs for their most premium product, when their brava m6 works like a charm. Maybe I was just unlucky to get a really crappy device, but a quick google search tells me there are many others who have had the same problem
