Customers are saying
Customers express satisfaction with the Roomba s9+’s cleaning performance, mapping features, suction power, ease of use, self-emptying capabilities, and pet hair removal. However, some users note that the robot can be noisy and that its navigation system and battery life could be improved. Concerns were also raised regarding the robot's reliability and the relatively high price point. Overall, the positive feedback on cleaning and convenience is prominent, but potential buyers should consider the reported drawbacks.

not the smartest robot
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This vac has a couple of things going for it, but the drawbacks weigh heavily against it. My old robot vac struggled against the thick pile of my basement carpet, and it made a mess every time I had to empty the bin, so I was really looking forward to the Roomba addressing those problems. As far as the thick carpet goes, it does seem to have a better drive system, and it definitely has a stronger suction. The automatic, hands-free system for emptying the bin would be great if you never had to empty it by hand. However, in the first week of ownership, the robot managed to get a clog in the suction of the bin, and it would not move until I emptied it by hand, creating the very problem I was trying to avoid with this new system. When it was working right, it worked great. It's super cool to see the robot dock itself and empty its bin into the bag stored in the base station. However, that also creates an issue not present with other robot vacs, or even most upright vacs nowadays: you have to periodically remove and replace that bag, so now you have to keep an inventory of proprietary bags on hand. It also seems incredibly stupid when it comes to mapping out the area to clean and doing so efficiently. It supposedly has a way to "see" its environment, because the instructions specifically say that the initial mapping goes better if you leave some lights on. However, it spent most of its time running into furniture and walls over and over and over and over again. And it never made its all the way down a hallway, so one room still has yet to be mapped or vacuumed. And it doesn't even clean efficiently, randomly deciding to leave an area or come back with only part of the area finished. And even with a better drive system than my old robot vac, it still managed to get itself stuck repeatedly in certain places, like an area where the carpet runs around a tiled area. That's annoying when you're home to fix it, but if you schedule it to run while you're at work, the cleaning cycle gets aborted because you aren't there to free it before it times out. At this point, I'm really thinking the "upgrade" was not worth it.

Too LOUD and dumb
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It’s sooooo loud, sounds like there’s cellophane blocking the suction vent, and it always gets lost before going back to the charging station even if it’s right in front of it, the pros is that it has (2) modes , quiet (still much louder than my old robot vacuum) and Detailed mode . I do like that I can start vacuuming from my phone even when I’m not home .

Immensely fun to watch, some trouble on hardwood
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We are 100% hardwood with a few scattered throw rugs. After doing its Training Runs twice, the S9 had my main floor perfectly mapped. We could see the dog crate, the kitchen kitchen, etc. all perfectly mapped out as dark areas. We had a blast watching how it negotiated the chair legs, shelves, and around recliners. It truly is fascinating. I had zero issues with the app and adding the S9 to my home's Wifi. It just happened. Even our Alexa picked it up without any input from me. On its first run S9 seemed to do well, but as I got down on all fours I realized it just simply wasn't picking up the winter sand and grit on my hardwood, particularly in the room I identified as "entry way". In its automatic mode, it simply was glossing over these areas, picking up some for sure, but not all of it. On its second run to the "entry way", this time I found in the app how to boost its power. It suddenly became much louder, like a normal vacuum decibel. This time it picked up all the sand, if between the small joints in the hardwood. Checking the app, the S9 did not call out any Dirt Events in the "entry way", yet in my opinion really should have. It was quite dirty. So, it appears to me, out of the box on its automatic mode, it treats the hardwood like a fancy robotic duster/sweeper. It wasn't tackling the grit and grime like a vacuum should. Now that I know this, I will simply run it on the boosted mode when I know things are really gritty. The automatic mode seems like it is more designed for maintaining. All in all, we love our new robot. I just feel it should do a better job on the hardwood without me stepping in to boost the power.

Decent vacuum, abysmal support
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The vacuum performed well for about a year and half, but began having problems shortly after that. After two years of use it no longer undocks or responds to any commands. After spending hours on the phone with iRobot, they offered no repair options and said all they can offer is a $100 discount on a new machine. This is insane for a $1000 product. Unbelievably bad customer support, I would not buy anything from them again.

Pleasantly Surprised
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have to say given the price is was extremely skeptical and only got it because it had a 60 day return policy. Expecting to send it back I made sure to not destroy the packaging it came in and set them aside in an area ready to pull out in a week or so to pack it all up and return. Well, after a week of use I can honestly say this machine is a rockstar! I’m extremely surprised at how well it cleans and makes its way about the house. The self cleaning is great and you can basically just set and forget. Like other posts, make sure you’ve cleared the floor of debris and cords but apart from that you’re good to go. Do I think this is a replacement for vacuuming your home? No, but if I can get 3 to 4 weeks without having to pull the main vacuum out I’m happy.

Buyer beware!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Comes with a 1 year limited warranty. Funny after around a year things start breaking. Roomba support is awful, I just contacted for a part to repair a broken lid myself (constant errors after the 1-year mark) and they directed me to buy it on Amazon even though I can find or verify it is the correct part. It is also expensive guessing and buying random pieces and parts off of eBay, which is support's recommendation. Buyer beware!

Awesome Product
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 9550 with self cleaner is awesome. It does a fabulous job on cleaning floors. It will go around and under furniture. Even kitchen and dining room chairs. Picks up pet hair, dust, and crumbs. When it is full it will go back to home base and clean itself. Never have to clean it. Replace the bag in the home base once in a while and that is all you have to do for cleaning. It will go over carpet as well as hardwood. Has great programming ability. Pick the times, days and rooms you want it to clean. Tells you when it is done cleaning via the app. Highly recommend.

Don’t Hesitate to buy due to cost. It’s Worth it.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve named it “Happy”. Oh my god! She is wonderful. She’s been cleaning every part of my house 2nd and 3rd floors so clean. I was hesitated to buy Robot vacuum cleaners based on reviews. So I’ve decided to buy the most expensive one to try. I am happy so much right now. I want to give her more than five stars.

I’m on my 3rd replacement Vacuum
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.iRobot will be sending me by 3rd replacement in less than 1 month. I bought my product over the BF weekend sale, took it home, let it charge and right off the gate I was hit with an Error 14 message -bin not closing- even though it was closed. Long story short (part 1) after waiting on hold for 20mins, the rep believed it was the lid that need to be replaced. 5-7 days later I received the lid, and guess what? The screws wouldn’t fit into the new lid because the lid didn’t fit flushed into that clear compartment area. Long story short (part 2) they sent me a new robot. But told me to remove the battery from the old robot and put into the new robot, no biggie. When I received the robot #2, i played around & changed the bin of robot #1 (which was the original issue I had) with robot #2’s bin and guess what? It worked!! The problem all along was the bin and not the lid. But I digress. So now I’m using robot #2, so far so good. I’ve used it maybe 3/4x, so it finally learned my apt layout; I got hit with an Error 31 message - Internal communication error. Long story short (part 3) I contacted customer care and after waiting on hold for 30ish minutes, they agreed to send me ANOTHER ROBOT, this will be robot #3. Ladies and gentlemen this was sometime last week, I’ve been receiving what I presume to be out of stock s9+ emails. So when will robot #3 arrive? Who knows. Maybe your experience will be different than mine (I sure hope so) but one thing I’ve learned is, they know there are lots of defects with their s9+. They were too quick to send me replacements without hesitation. I won’t be surprised if they end up recalling it. If robot #3 even stutters once or looks at me the wrong way, I’m asking for a full refund and I’ll just vacuum my apt myself.

Save your money
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The roomba cleans well, but I hate how much it needs my help. I got it about 4 months ago and I don’t think there was once time that it didn’t have some type of an error. It’s nice that it takes away the vacuuming from me, but I wanted it to do it when I wasn’t home. It does vacuum well, but there’s no way I can run it and expect it to clean everything while I’m away. Not worth the money in my opinion

Disappointed
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Too loud. Takes too long. Not worth the money at all. Has yet to make it around my first floor completely and makes the carpet look terrible with deep track marks. Doesn’t matter that it empties its self when there’s nothing to empty..

Piece of garbage.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve never thrown free money before, not even on strippers until now. Purchasing this was the biggest disappointment of 2020 even with everything going on in the world. Within first week of getting it, it kept saying close the lid when it was closed. You gotta literally hold it down just to start it. Now it gets stuck on a wall and says it’s stuck on a cliff? It aso moves forward 10 steps and bam,”please move location drop off detected.” Also gets stuck trying to get off its charger.Literally a piece of garbage. And don’t even get me started on that crappy Mop. Was returned within the first 4 hours lol.

S9+ is a defective product - don't buy it
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The S9+ is garbage. It constantly throws errors, for me it's error 31 and 21, and won't finish jobs. Worst robot vacuum I've ever used. Really buggy software and internal communication / compute hardware on the market. iRobot has already sent one replacement, and within a month or two it has all the same issues with error 31 and 21 as the one it replaced. The S9+ is a defective product. The Brava m6 is great, but I advise you to stay away from the S9+ unless you want a really expensive piece of junk.
