Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Obviously a cheap and flimsy build right out of the box. Parts are plastic and fit is poor. I realize ice makers are notoriously noisy, especially in a residential application, but this one is up there. Made ice fine for about a year then started getting inconsistent with cube size and quantity. Did recommended maintenance (cleaning) but to no avail. Put up with it for another year when the compressor failed. Appliance repairman said it was not worth the cost to fix. Only reason I chose this one is because the cabinet opening was for an 18" unit and KitchenAid seems to be the only mtg'r. out there making this size. My new ice maker will be a Scotsman commercial grade unit. Since everyone is making a 15" model, I'll gladly install fillers on each side for the new fit.
