Great laptop but price increase drops a star

Id give 5 stars if it weren't for the price increase. After having this laptop for 3 months, I think it is now a good time to make a good and honest review. Again, This laptop would be 5 stars if they didnt hike up the price by $200 since I bought it 3 months ago. Cannot review battery as i never had it unplugged. But, onto the Pro and Cons of this laptop.
Pros-
Screen and Refresh rate are top notch for 1080p and no problems reaching over 100fps in a lot of games.
CPU is one of most powerful in a laptop and great for gaming but best for video editing.
GPU is great enough to play most games in 1440p when connected to another monitor or TV.
Memory and RAM upgradability are great and laptop is easy to take apart.
Has some great cooling when on a flat service. Highest temps is seen were 80-85c which is ice cold compared to other gaming laptops I used.
The best pro (For me as I use it connected to my TV) is the fact that when connected to a TV, I have every option available in NVIDIA Control Panel to change resolution, colors, size, etc.
Cons-
Not the BEST GPU to use for 1440p but perfect for 1080p gaming. Do not even try 4K.
RGB isnt too customizable. but a pro for some is that you can turn it off. lol.
Overall, this laptop is great still but you can find RTX 3070 Laptops (or AMD equivalent GPU's) for about $300 more that will give you way better performance. Worst thing about that though is availability. So, if availability is an issue, this is still a great laptop to buy if you can justify the $200 price increase from what it was 3 months ago.

I caught this gem while looking at gaming laptops and decided to take a closer look at it. I am glad I did. The Lenovo Legion 5 2021 model certainly does not disappoint. The overall design has slimmed down a bit from last years model. This year its outfitted with the new AMD Ryzen 7 5800H powerhouse CPU with 8 cores and 16 threads of processing power. Teamed up with 8GB of DDR4 3200mhz ram you are sure to crunch through the workloads easily. Add another 8GB and you are set! The laptop also has the new Nvidia RTX 3050TI Graphics card that provides excellent gaming, The GPU is teamed up with 4GB of GDDR6 Samsung memory for blistering gaming sessions. Round this all out with a gorgeous 165hz 100% SRGB IPS Panel; you are sure to enjoy many hours of gameplay with vibrant colors and silky smooth action. The surprise in all of this is the 512GB NVMe SSD that Lenovo installed in this laptop. The SK Hynix 512GB NVMe SSD is insanely fast. It provides up to 3600 / 3000 mbps R / W speeds. Typically this is one area the manufactures skimp out on and install slow drives to save on costs. Rest assured, Lenovo has your back on this one. I am super thrilled with this laptop and look forward to all the gaming ahead.
The laptop has a mux switch included with essentially turns off the internal Radeon Vega graphics and sets the RTX 3050TI dedicated state. This gives you full GPU power. The GPU is rated at max 95w TDP. Definitely not a Max Q variant.
*** Bonus - Lenovo provides factory overclocking in the bios for the RTX 3050TI which further boosts performance!
Don't let the 4GB of GDDR6 video memory deter you from picking up this silent sleeper of gaming goodness. It has plenty of power and finesse to keep you gaming for hours on end!

I absolutely love this laptop. I use it for both gaming and work.
It's currently docked and connected to an ASUS monitor and works great. I also use it along with a Logitech MX Keys keyboard and a wireless Razer Deathadder wireless mouse. I wasn't wanting to spend a whole lot so I bought this on sale during tax free weekend and I couldn't be more pleased. I wanted something that worked as well a desktop but had the portability of a laptop to replace my gaming desktop and give me more space. I read some complaints about the RTX 3050ti but I can say that I haven't experienced any issues myself.
I did add an additional 1TB SSD drive in the empty slot and upgraded the RAM to 16GB almost immediately as most people suggested. Even before the upgrades, it ran flawlessly. I have only good things to say so far. I haven't really tested the battery life extensively as it is docked 95% of the time. Overall I would highly recommend this laptop.

Beyond its gaming prowess, the Lenovo Legion 5 proves to be an unexpected gem for photo editing. Fueled by the AMD Ryzen 7 5800H and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti, it effortlessly handles graphics-intensive tasks. The vivid 15" display showcases colors with precision, while the 8GB memory and 512GB SSD ensure seamless photo editing experiences. The Phantom Blue design adds a touch of elegance to its powerhouse performance, making the Legion 5 an excellent choice for creative tasks. Whether you're gaming or perfecting your photos, this laptop is a versatile and stylish companion. Highly recommended for photographers and creatives alike!

This laptop will run most games at 60fps+, although don’t expect to run AAA games like cyberpunk at high fps. The only limiting aspect of this laptop is the ram. 8gb of ram is not enough to play most games stably, I recommend 16gb to even 32 gb of ram.
Though not the best performing laptop, for the price it’s a good mid-tier laptop.

Amazing laptop for the price. The only inconvenience is that it doesn't come with the cable that goes from the wall plug to the brick (it's a regular cable that desktop PCs use). It should have included it, but other than that, excellent laptop.
I went for this model instead of the 16GB one because it was about $200 cheaper, and with less than $200 I can upgrade it to 32GB.
100% Recommended!

I got this laptop for gaming and it is a pretty good budget laptop. It does the job but it does get hot which is fixable with a cooling pad under the laptop which I recommend getting with this laptop if you are going to have it on your lap

I was looking for an affordable gaming laptop for Xbox game pass since I’m a casual gamer and this delivered. This Lenovo Legion came with AMD Ryzen 7 5800 H and is a surprisingly powerhouse of a gaming laptop. With Nvidia RTX 3050 Ti graphics cards provides excellent gaming. I’ve played Halo Infinite and it’s looks amazing!

Laptop is fried after 1 year 4 months.
Motherboard is fried. Charger works, battery works. Computer isn't charging. Ran many test and everything points to the MB being fried. The laptop wasn't even used much at all. Very light use for only using office, excel, etc. No gaming. Just work. When the laptop worked though. It was fast and responsive. Very good performing laptop. But the quality in the hardware is poor.

Great laptop for the price. The screen is bright and colorful. The laptop works fast if you update all the drivers before using it. I don't give it 5 stars because the back cover is too weak and hard to open.

It’s you’re someone who likes opening up your laptop then this is great (actually what I wanted) but if you don’t then I’d look at other models. First, out of box pros:
-screen is great, lots of color and games look awesome
-the laptop itself looks great with a dark blue finish with black trim
-rgb in the keyboard has 4 presets and can be customized with iQue program. Also keyboard has a great feel
-the 3050ti is great for my purposes, i played destiny 2 and battlefield 5 so far and enjoyed the experience. The 4gb of vramm though can hinder some new games from running on ultra settings so if you want that you have move up to a laptop with 3070/3080.
Cons (that are fixable)
- so the 8 gb of ram is one module instead of two with 1rx16, so if you want 16 on a budget you just need to buy 1 8gb stick 1rx16. But I would recommend 1rx8 sticks as they perform better. You can tell if the stick has 8 chips (1rx8) or 4 chips (1rx16)
- battery isn’t great but can be upgraded to the 80wh which is around $100 online.
Other upgradable
-WiFi card can be upgraded to WiFi 6e in the future which helps with longevity.
-it has a second m.2 ssd slot so you can add a lot of storage! (Could also do a 2.5in ssd but you’re stuck with the 60wh battery if you do that so you’re call)
-Also for Linux users, WiFi card and screen brightness does not work out of the box, there are fixes for this though. WiFi works for me now but the brightness isn’t even tho it works with other people so might need the newest kernel.
Over all a great laptop for the price if you’re willing to open her up which honest you should learn if you can. If you’re on a budget this is great fo upgradability if you’re someone who can’t buy a new laptop every few years.

Bought this for school, design work, and occasional gaming.
Performance: Great! I'm not much of PC guy so I can't give an in-depth opinion, but all applications run super smoothly, I can play games at high settings with almost no problems (I recommend upgrading the ram though), and the 144hz refresh rate is sweet! Battery on the low side.
Portability: Both the charger and the laptop are heavier than average, but that's what you pay in exchange for the performance.
Design: Probably my favorite part of the device! It isn't flashy like your usual gaming laptops, instead it goes for a more minimalistic and work-centric design which is one of the reasons I picked this up.
Downsides: Not much, but I do feel the need to say the first one I bought came with pressure mark defect which kinda sucked. Got it refunded and bought it again and the second time I had no problems, so make sure to quality check while you're still in the refund period.
Overall I definitely recommend the Lenovo Legion 5!

This Laptop is GREAT! Especially if you already have a more powerful Desktop! Link below for Benchmark in Warzone! The 4GB may limit you for Ultra Textures in future games, for sure, but you can bet yourself high fps using medium/High settings, also this has DLSS! I have tested DLSS in RDR2 (AVG 80 Fps with High/Mix settings), and Warzone (AVG 120 FPS). It also has a MUX switch, you need to turn off Hybrid Mode in Lenovo Vantage, or you can also cannot Laptop to Display Port. Temps are the coolest I have seen in any gaming laptop, and the fans are not so loud either! I highly recommend this budget laptop for college students. I use Visual Studio code! Also: UPGRADE the RAM to 32GB (2x16GB) using crucial 3200 ram. You can run a crucial application (google it) to find exact ram. RAM can be upgraded (2 slots). You can add an additional m.2 SSD (has 2x M.2 SSD slots). Legit Laptop! Again, perfect for college students, and perfect for those who already have a powerful desktop, and just need some mild horsepower on the GO.

Waited a few months before writing this. I have to say I am not disappointed. I can play some really decent games like FFXIV and GTA 5 on it. Its also great with multitasking. The GeForce makes it easy to switch settings to better performance on the laptop. I do recommend, reloading Windows without bloatware on this and you'll save on disk, trust me! Feels good not having all the Bloat. The SSD is not bad but luckily the RAM and SSD i now can be upgraded so that makes it even better than most laptops out there. The RGB keyboard is nice for late night gaming. Decent sized screen as well. It is a bit heavy, but not too chunky so can be carried almost comfortably in a laptop bag or by hand. All the ports still work, as I constantly been keeping anything plugged in to it to test those out.

Better than HP Pavillion Gaming

I originally purchased the HP Pavillion gaming laptop awhile back that BestBuy sells, but had to return it due to manufacturing issues. I was going to repurchase it and it ended up being sold out and this Lenovo Legion was on sale for the same price. I saw that it had a better graphics card and I did a detailed compared and decided to buy it. I will say I think I like it a lot more because of a few things. The battery does not last too long off the charger, but with battery saver mode and low settings it manages for a good amount of time. I keep mine plugged in when gaming all the time just because it runs optimally that way, and I can have my graphics settings turned on high with no lag. Compared to the HP Pavillion, the keyboard and software is so much better, you can customize colors and effects on the backlit keyboard, unlike HP Pavillion. And there is also a built in equalizer/sound software that come with the Lenovo Vantage control panel for the laptop. Overall this laptop is great for multitasking for school and work, and runs great for games (Splitgate for reference ran great on High setting while plugged in). One of the best features in my opinion are additional fans on the sides of the laptop , as well as manyyyy ports, I believe 4 USB ports, 2 ports that you can plug a fast IPhone charger into which I absolutely love, HDMI and ethernet ports which many are in the back of the laptop which I really like so they do not get in the way. Overall, great purchase!
