I caught this tv on a great promotion in January. I'm using it in my media room as a computer monitor/media tv. I LOVE it! I didn't realize 4K was that awesome. It has the built in smart tv which offers Netflix in 4k as well as some other apps. Lg smart tv is limited, but its quick and relatively intuitive to use.
Picture and sound are both great from this tv.
The one complaint i have is the remote. Holy cow. It's bad. Like really bad. In reference to how many keys there are and they are almost all the same shape. You almost have to look at this remote to tell what key you are pressing. I won't be using it much, as i will be adding steaming box soon, but it does stink.
The rest of the tv is awesome. For a 4k 50in lg set, you can't beat this tv. Note, it is a 60hz set, which is fine for most viewing. The only time it may be noticeable is when watching sports.
Go ahead and pick this one up if you are looking for a great deal on a 4k set.

I bought this TV on Black Friday of 2016 and as of a week and a half after the one-year warranty the TV doesn't work at all I turned it off in the morning and came back in the afternoon and it will not turn back on, the red button blinks and then just goes out and stays out but no picture no sound just black screen the TV was great when it worked, it had a beautiful picture was much easier to connect devices to them the other two Smart TVs in the house but no TV should stop working after one year.

Connected to a Nvidia 950gx with a single HDMI cable it does 4:4:4 chroma and has such good color that it actually makes my ACER touch screen monitor look washed-out in comparison. It may actually be a little bit too big to act as a monitor, probably a 40" would by better if you are doing close work.
It retains its settings as a monitor when through a power-off cycle, and hooks up easily directly to the Internet in case you want to watch movies occasionally. Sounds is good and loud, but if you want to add external sound it has to be through TOSLINK (optical) or HDMI.
Doesn't do the confusing external control box setup that Samsung does. That's a big plus in my view.

Solid TV and great budget 4K option. Have it paired with an XBOX One S. It has an HDR option (has to be turned on per input, i.e. You turn the option on for each HDMI port) and quick and responsive Smart TV functions. Netflix, Hulu, Amazon, etc all work well. Overall a good upgrade at a very good price, if you're not ready to go for the higher end 4K options.
Tip: the 'soap opera effect'/TruMotion function on this TV is under the Picture Options menu in Picture Mode.

The quality picture of this 50 inch LG is pixel resolution intense. Comes with: Netfix, internet source, youtube and many more applications. It could connect tablets and phones; you could use them as remotes or enhance the device screen. The audio is great for living room and bedrooms. To add dynamic a LG soundbar from Best Buy would make your entertainment out of this world.

This is an incredible budget TV. My 5 star rating is based on its price - it's certainly no $3000 OLED, but it's frequently on sale for around $450. Got mine open box for $390 and couldn't be happier for the price. Bright, good colors, decent built-in sound, and the availability of apps is excellent. Navigating the apps sometimes feels extremely smooth, but sometimes goofy (I would press what seemed like the logical button on the remote to go back one step, and it would exit the app and go to TV mode). I've seen some people knocking it for the 60 Hz refresh rate - I'm very picky about motion blur, and this is honestly fine for casual use. Sure, if you want an incredible home theater or a top of the line gaming screen, look at something twice the price. But I hardly ever saw blur or ghosting.
Overall, excellent TV.

Where to begin with this TV? It really delivers where image quality and colors are important to you. The image quality is superb in any resolution mode the image is shown (720p, 1080p, 2160p), Ita 4K resolution gets you to another level for watching a TV or working with your computer, or playing games in your console. It has 3 HDMI ports (maybe 2 more would be better), but you can connect your cable TV, your Apple TV, and your computer, your PS4 to component, and all set. It comes with WebOS, and has Hulu, Netflix and Amazon Video (as long as YouTube) preinstalled. It's easy to setup, and you can connect it via wire (Ethernet connection) or WiFi (to get the best of the installed apps, it's better the wired connection). In summary it's a great television for the price

We ordered this TV for my mom since her Vizio was finally starting to give out after a few years. She was looking for a new smart TV with 4k capability. After spending a few days researching TV's this one went on sale.
The setup was very easy and the WebOS hasn't caused any issues yet. The apps are simple to use and the picture quality is great.
The auto updates can be inconvenient. If you don't want to have to worry about interrupted or delayed watching ensure that you turn off auto-updates and just check for them frequently.
This has been a great TV so far. It's mainly used to watch Netflix with the built in app and Cable TV.
The only Con is that this TV doesn't have Chromecast built in which so many do.

I was looking for a 4K LED TV that had a solid picture, good features and a slim design - for a competitive price. Researched several TVs that fit the criteria both on cNET and rTings, and when I missed the main one I was looking for - Black Friday doorbuster - at Target, I searched Best Buy and found the LG UH5500 for a comparable price.
Love the chrome feet (vs. the former black base on my Vizio), the Smart features, and ease of setup/callibration.
Does the job for sports (hockey), Netflix streaming, and occasional gaming.

Great TV if the signal is HD or 1080i or 4K

Mine arrived yesterday. This is a great TV as long you are feeding it good signals (1080i OTA or HD digital stuff looks awesome). Go into Youtube to watch the 4K videos and It Is A-W-E-S-O-M-E. I tweeked the settings a bit to improve the picture and reduce the washed out look that came with the factory setting in some of the pic modes. BTW, the remote is horrible - the guy who designed it must have fallen asleep during usability class. The tiny keys and little spacing caused me to keep hitting the wrong button while adjusting the setting which kicked me out completely and caused me to start all over - many many many many many times (you get the idea). Talk about frustration. Luckily I don't expect to have to tweek the setting much once it's done in the beginning. There are a lot of useless buttons - if they only got rid of these and make some of the commonly used buttons bigger, the whole thing would be much more user friendly. Oh, and let us do some common commands with just 1 button push, rather than having to go 2 or 3 deep into the menu - like switching inputs, getting to the channel list, etc. I read a tip on another review about downloading LG Remote apps - that's a great suggestion!
Watch out is that if your signal is 720p or lower, the picture looks horrible no matter at what setting you try (and there are lots of pic modes to choose from). Even some Roku shows (PBS, etc.) that used to look kind of nice on my old HDTV now looks really bad. I suspect that's why some people gave bad reviews.

This LG 4k TV is a great intro product in the 4k arena. The refresh rate isn't great but the picture looks very clean and doesn't have noticeable artifacts. We purchased this as a bedroom TV and it fits the bill perfectly. Great size, very good picture, and great price made this TV a solid decision. We even purchased a second one to give as a Christmas gift.

This is a very good and decent budget 4k tv. I use mine primarily for gaming and will admit it took a little bit to adjust to the colors and setting up the colors. But a quick search on the Internet found my results for the setup quickly. Decent sound quality and worth the price. Recommend for people on a budget to look at this TV
