Hi,
I purchased this model after weighing the pros and cons of the Arlo & Nest wireless cameras. I am so happy I bought the Lorex wired cameras. Yes, they are pricey, but, they don't require charging & ridiculous monthly fees. The apps and ability to control the cameras remotely are a major plus. Not to mention, the two way talk feature. I live in a community so I haven't tried all of the features, but as a person w/ a disability, it gives my family comfort to have the ability to check on me whenever or have the sense of security down the road. It'a great for the smallest of things, i.e. of we forgot where we put something, or if one of my dogs ate the others food, we have the evidence. :) I can't recommend this system enough. We've had it for almost 4 months now and love it.

The Lorex 4K NVR Surveillance System is an excellent system. The cameras have a clear detailed picture and the active deterrence system with motion activated lights, alarm and 2 way talk work perfectly. We are very happy with our purchase.

Cameras arrived on time. Seemed to be of quality. Too bad the installers didn't show up to keep appointment set weeks in advance

The CAMERAS are great. SOFTWARE is HORRENDOUS!!!

The CAMERAS themselves lived up to expectations - very solid build (heavy, no loose parts, nothing shaking or rattling inside). We used them at night time and day time in late fall, Michigan weather (~32'), no problem.
Picture Clarity was great (night time and day), frame rate was great (I think we bumped it up manually in the settings; default might've been kinda low, if I recall).
Audio - Pretty Good (Not crystal clear when multiple sources are present such as music and people's voices at the same time, but clear enough, yes).
The spotlight - Very Bright, awesome.
The siren - very loud, awesome (and we Love that Each Unit has it's own separate siren, unlike some cheaper, even popular and otherwise quality-rated camera/alarm setups where the multiple cameras just utilize a base station siren stored somewhere in your house).
THE PROBLEM:
HUUUUUUGE PROBLEM. Biiiig time no-no, enough that we returned it for full refund, within the 15-day time period.
The SOFTWARE is Horrrrrible. First but Not foremost, the interface is just Archaic looking -straight out of the early 90's or something; It truly looks less visibly-palatable than Windows '95. But whatever...that's just a superficial complaint; as long as all the features work good, I could get passed that...Unfortunately, they suck too...
Intuitiveness [or lack-thereof]...Navigation of the menus themselves is Horrible - NOT intuitive At All. Took a lot of time to figure out where certain settings were, and how they applied to each/all of the cameras. The manual for the system - WHICH IS ONLY AVAILABLE ONLINE, DID NOT COME WITH THE UNIT - does NOT actually explain what each of the settings DO; they just tell you which settings are on which menus; For a novice home security buyer - that's practically useless. Created a TON of guess-and-check work for us, to get things running optimally.
OK, but now for the biggest problems with the software...
The software had MAJOR PROBLEMS with our Arris SURFboard SBG6900-AC built-in-firewall. This is an expensive, quality unit that hasn't caused issues with other appliances we've used on our home's wireless network. But this caused a Ton of communication problems with the Lorex System --- though we wouldn't have known it if we didn't call tech support, since the interface really doesn't tell you of any communication errors! It just...doesn't work how it's supposed to work. Hours of frustration and trial and error-after-error!
The biggest problem we had as a result? We could not get the system to Save Custom Clips from Past Recordings--- via the app on our cell phones (*Think, if you're away on vacation [or perhaps it's a vacation home you're checking on], and you notice someone had broke in and stole something. You're hundreds of miles away, will still be gone for quite some time, but need to ensure the footage doesn't get recorded-over once the limited hard drive space gets full and it starts recording over the old footage*). Actually, similar issues were present when doing this from a laptop (separate program to use). The only time we could get it to work, was when attempting to save the clips directly from the NVR itself (not an option, when you're away from the system for any length of time). What's odd, is that it *Sometimes* worked [via phone, laptop]. Sometimes. Literally, when tech support manually logged in and tried it themselves to debug the issue, they got it to work properly ONE-out-of-ELEVEN tries. The first time. Couldn't duplicate it afterwards, in 10 more tries. lol. Again, this may have been caused by problems with compatibility issues with our Arris wifi hardware, But nevertheless, error messages should've popped up with directions of how to resolve the issue or what wasn't working properly. But no such error messages populated through their interface. The feature just...didn't work; nothing happened when you pressed the button to save clips. Though multiple calls were made to remedy the problem with tech support [lasting literally over 4 hours, between 3 calls from myself and my wife] the issue was never resolved while we owned it for 15 days. Funny thing is - literally a full week After we had called and reported the issue over-the-phone, and days after we already packed-up and returned the unit to the store, we got a follow-up email from their super-tech-support folk, asking for details, and assuring us they'd look into the matter further. ...*sigh...
Another HUGE SLAP-IN-THE-FACE to buyers of this product, is that the features on this unit are insultingly primitive compared to other Lorex systems that are Years older, and Hundreds of Dollars Cheaper!!! This unit DOES NOT have SMARTZONE technology (an Awesome system offered in many Lorex products, chalk-full of fine-tuning settings and monitoring capabilities, to enhance custom alerts and filter out nuisance alerts). This unit does Not let you setup multiple zones with different sensitivity settings (think, a camera on your Porch, Facing the Road, Sidewalk, Front Door, Sitting Bench, Tall Bushes [that wave in the wind] and Driveway in view...you'll want different sensitivity settings for each of those areas). On this unit, the screen is divided into ~200?~ squares, and you either highlight or don't highlight the squares; whichever you choose are monitored, and whichever you don't, are not. No fine-tuning each area to your particular preferences, unique from the other areas. That's Insulting, as this capability was on a years-old 1080 unit from Lorex that was about Half the price! Likewise, many other unique software/monitoring fine-tune settings were all missing: *search "SmartZone" - it's impressive stuff... BUT NOT ON THIS UNIT, DESPITE WHAT THE SALESPEOPLE OF LOREX ASSURE YOU OVER THE PHONE!
-----------------
Summary: The cameras themselves are wonderful. Very optimistic that they would live up to their specs' expectations. Solidly-built, great quality video/spotlight/2-way-audio/alarm. Audio recording was as-expected (not stellar, but solid-enough for a surveillance system). Software is Terrrrrible - substandard features/technology that is inferior to years-old units offered by the same company. Interface is archaic-looking, hard-on-the-eyes (least of complaints, but worth noting). And apparently their system is Not Fully Compatible with certain home wifi units.
And their tech support was horrrrible - extremely long wait to talk to them in the first place, very slow and laughably-methodological debugging methods, and horrrrrribly-slow follow-up communications to fully resolve any issues.
Run Far Away from this unit, unless you're looking for a 4K, 2-way-audio, lights and sirens unit...with software that just disappointing and doesn't work.
I REALLY wanted this unit to work. But it didn't. :(
