This is my first combo dash cam and gps. First: The dash cam is excellent with very clear video. It watermarks each video frame with the date, time, speed and GPS coordinates. The downside is that the manual states it will use up to a 64 GB card, not mine. I inserted a 64 into the unit, would not recognize it. I repeated about 3 times, no luck. Put the card in another camera and it worked great. Tried the Magellan again, this time it recognized the unit BUT once it started recording, could not shut it off by pressing the off icon. I had to turn the unit off. It will work great with 32 GB cards. I give the GPS a B+. This is an upgrade from a C-. 1st problem: street names were about half right, this finally corrected it self. 2nd problem: Streets were showing on the opposite side of there actual location. This too corrected itself during the drive after about 15 minutes. 3rd problem: The map updates need updating. My older Magellan unit has more accurate information than the unit being reviewed. And yes I have ran two updates on this unit. Finally, setting the lane drift and collision avoidance functions has been an exercise in futility! One more thing; don't speed it will nag you to death if you go more than 2 mph above the speed limit! Still I like the unit, especially the dashcam. I do recommend the unit, but if you can, go with a higher model.

This Magellan GPS is much better than the previous one I had. Bought it for the dash cam, does good, but the factory mounting options is limited. Hard to set the dash cam settings up but works good. Much improved over the previous Magellan GPS I had

I have been looking for a reliable dash cam, but no one at BestBuy could really give me much detailed information. Finally, a girl was kind to recommend that I might buy one and try it out. When it was delivered, I only tried twice. The GPS should be good, but that was not the main reason I purchased it----I need a dash cam. Unfortunately, this product did not really perform well as a dash cam. It recorded almost nothing during night---yet one manager at BestBuy told me "you cannot expect 100% clear..." The problem was that one could barely consider it 10% clear. Stupid I am, for assuming BestBuy will take good care of it customers about the problem. The customer office didn't care. One manager came, did not care at all. Finally, there was another manager who helped get the product returned, even if it's “store credit”, at least helped me change my decision "never coming back to BestBuy again". Thank you very much to the 2nd manager! Sorry, I did not copy down your name. If someone is looking for a good GPS, with some dash cam function to record the scenery with day light while driving, this could be a good choice for you. If someone is looking for a good dash cam with some GPS function, you probably don't want to try this one. If you still want to try, be extremely careful: read your receipt line by line, the return time is only 2 weeks.

I was looking for something totally different from this camera and not planning on spending any where near what I did on this dashcam. But after reading all of the features it has I purchased it and have not regretted it even once. It has great video and sound quality; and has worked flawlessly since day one. I am so impressed with it that I am planning on buying another one for the wife's car. Now days with all of the crazy drivers on the road anyone would be a fool not to be recording what is happening in front of them for proof in court after accidents. 6 months ago I was T boned by a semi while on my motorcycle. The next day and ever since I have been filming all the time I am driving both on my bike and in my truck. I definitely recommend this product to anyone looking for a high quality dash cam. 5 STARS

I had to return my original purchase because the unit decided it was JUNE and not January. Magellan support tried to figure out the problem and gave up. The tech told me to return it for another unit. I was an idiot and did. Bestbuy promptly and courteously exchanged it. I got home, set up the unit, took several pictures and video while driving. Yep, same problem, the date is still showing the month of June! Everything else (right now) is working. I may just keep it and turn off the date watermark. However, this will be my LAST Magellan purchase. I have purchased Magellan GPS units in the past with complete satisfaction with their performance, sadly not this time.

This product keeps me focused. Because it tells me if I'm too close to the car in front or on side of me. It reminds to take a break if I've been driving too long without stopping. I like it. However, if your calibration is off or the the GPS moves from original placement, the continuous verbal comments are nerve wracking.

BECAUSE IT WORKS I LIKE IT ,IT CHARGES VERY VERY QUICKLY,ITS VERY CLEAR PICTURE IS A PLUS.

Cameras great, gps could be better, would be nice if street options came up as you typed it in.

It's a nice gps unit, but does not tell you anywhere on the box or in store that this unit will connect to wifi. Well it does and I have not had a single problem with it. Used it to travel from OH to NC.

I bought this GPS because it had a camera. My newly minted 16 yr old driver was staying home for Spring Break. The idea of letting him loose in the car kept me up all night the first night. Sleep deprived I went to Best Buy and the only in stock choice below $300 bucks was this unit, Not only does it record video, and give directions, it warns of red light cameras, monitors the speed limit with audible warnings if exceeded, this unit also records sound! Once active it has auto shutdown, crash save, and auto start if the car is disturbed. Did not know any of this when I bought it. Use the downloadable app, remove the memory card and trace the route history with video playback. Awesome. The unit is worth it's weight in gold. On day two, my son's quick trip to a friends house stretched to 5 hours. A review of the data showed 10 trips, a carload of friends, and the audio.....even though he shut off the unit off each time he climbed in the car. The proverbial tip of the iceberg, the hole at the bottom of the dam..... Get a onboard camera for your teenager's car folks! Better to catch bad driving behavior NOW, than get a phone call after..... And so much more..... TOTAL GAME CHANGER!!!!!!! If there is an accident, the video will serve as evidence. Its okay, I don't think I would buy another Magellan GPS. I've already bought it so I'll keep it. I got it because it is a GPS and video cam combo. I had to take the first one back because it constantly said to close to vehicle in front of you and there was no one in front me.Got the 2nd one it's a lot better. Kimberly Hagins

The quality & price of the Magellan Roadmate is excellent. Works perfectly as both dash cam & GPS. We are not able to reset the date but have been told when there are updates that will happen. The fact that there are lifetime map updates was probably the selling feature for us since our last GPS unit (not Magellan) ran out of space so we could no longer update maps.

In reference to comparable products from other companies, this product has great features, especially the integrated dash cam, for the price. Easy to learn features and operated great on our first trip...and ever since.

Gets me where I need to go. I work all over the country, and a gps is a must!

This GPS has a lot of great features, which includes a built in camera. I had the opportunity to use it the other day. It told me I was driving too close to the car in front of me! Back Seat driver!!
