Expensive Paperweight After A Year

I ended up getting it cheaper, but it worked great on Xfinity for about a year. The app and software left a lot to be desired, but I was getting the speeds that were advertised. I started having issues with the Wi-Fi as it would drop off randomly. After a series of factory resets, it's gotten to the point where it's just barely working. The ethernet ports still carry a consistent connection, but the WAN side just crapped out. I can't even log into the modem without running into trouble if getting in at all. Motorola does make good products, more specifically their phones, but I no longer trust their networking products. Would not recommend especially for the price they are asking for it. Disappointing.

Has worked perfectly since it was installed, no connection drops or issues. Speed is good, and stays connected to my 2.5ghz Ethernet port which other routers would not. WiFi signal is not great sat on my porch which my old router had no issues with but it's strong enough to work reliably. Cheaper and more reliable than the Netgear equivalent

Super expensive, but the only option available when I purchased it for the internet speed with telephone. Have had it for almost 2 years, and we lose internet connectivity multiple times per day for all that time. Xfinity says it is not them (though I'm not necessarily in agreement) and blames the issue on the "privately owned" modem. It does work well when the internet is working, It also didn't serve my home, despite what the data says. I ended up shutting down the router on this unit and buying a mesh system, which has been great.

The modem/router is outstanding. Flawless. The only issue is that I can't use it with my Comcast internet (Xfinity), and I will explain why. After changing my failing modem/router provided by Xfinity, I received a usage notification about 3 weeks later that I had reached my data limit with them. As a business customer, I was confused by the message, believing I had unlimited internet usage on my plan. They explained to me that unlimited data and internet is only a part of my internet plan if I use their modem/router as a rental. While this will be an outstanding backup if my rented modem/router fails in the future, it is going to be a pretty paperweight until that time. No fault of Motorola, rather Comcast.
Separately, I will say that this was extremely easy to set up and use, for the 3 weeks that I used it.

It’s just not providing the performance I was expecting and Motorola does not have customer service available in the way they promised. This was the recommended modem by Xfinity to replace theirs. Boo hiss on Motorola. I feel like Motorola and Xfinity are in cahoots. As a result, I also bought a Netgear WiFi extender. Still don’t feel like everything is optimized in my 1750 square foot condo. Granted, there are concrete outer walls. On the other hand, the floor sales people at my Best Buy have been helpful!!!

I bought this product to replace an older Arris Surfboard. It was reviewed well. From the first day, it started dropping signals out. I worked with Motorola support and trouble shot for days. After many back and forth by email they finally admitted it was defective and replaced it with another one. Well, that one worked fine for about 2 weeks, but started doing the same thing with less frequency than the original one. Now, my phone won't have internet if I move upstairs of a very small house. Every morning internet is out on my laptop and phone. I have to reboot it every mornng. I contacted support again, they opened a case number, mentioned their systems were down and never got back to me!! I have never had any such consistently dysfunctional experience with any other modem/router. And I have used many because my work needs it. DON'T BUY MOTOROLA - MT 8733 DOCSIS 3.1 MODEM/ROUTER!! TOO EXPENSIVE TO BE SUCH A FAILURE.

I would give it a 1 star, but the setup was very easy with this modem. Customer support is bad and couldn't get a hold of anyone. The wifi shows bad on the app everywhere i have my phone even standing next to modem. I tried new cable wires, didn't work any better. It arrived quickly when ordered from best though, props to best buy.

It’s ok , I just had to replace my old modem and this one’s much better . I can’t complain. You get what you pay for and this one is good at the price point

Perfect replacement for Xfi by Xfinity in Frederick, MD. The setup was a breeze and 5G connection is amazing. I have checked upload and download speeds in a 4 story townhouse and the lowest it gets in 105mbps download and 15mbps uploads in the upper and lower corner(s). I was able to replace my Xfinity modem/router and an Xfi pod along the way.
HOWEVER, I have a similar issue as what others have reported... My 2.5G drops way too often. It drains the batteries of some of my devices trying to reconnect and also makes wifi printing and other devices inoperable all together. I am pondering a return of this as I still have time, I don't want too, but I can't have the continued drops.

I really did want to love this one. I purchased it and had everything setup fast. Then the next day and everyday after for a week it would kick off everything on the 2.4GHZ band. 5GHZ stayed consistent. It wasn’t distance that was the problem or the fault. I also reset the modem/ router once per day and that would work for an hour or two and then it would drop everything on the 2.4 band. Which subsequently was my home alarm system, and my kids Owlet. Two things we simply aren’t living without. I called my provider (Comcast) and they sent refresh signals and we had a tech change the line. Ended up have to go with a different brand and haven’t had a single issue since… very disappointed this one wouldn’t work.

Works with Comcast/Xfinity (Chicago)

I upgraded my ISP plan from 105 mbps to Xfinity's 1.2 gbps plan, this time I decided to buy my own modem instead of renting from Xfinity. I can confirm that this modem works perfectly fine with Xfinity (at least here in Chicago).
Set up was a breeze, I was able to set up the modem without having to have an installer come out by using Xfinity app and and activating the modem. It was actually a lot easier than I had expected, I was glad I was able to do it through the app and not having to call customer support.
The unit only has 1x 2.5gpbs ports which l was able to get +1.4 gbps speeds directly to my pc when hard wired directly to that port. You may need to upgrade your network card and/or your ethernet cable to achieve speeds >1.0 gbps.
Wifi works, but I have a home with multiple floors so there is a drop off in performance as you get further away from the modem. Right next the the modem, my phone was getting +550 mbps speeds. As I reached the farthest corner of my house, the speeds dropped to +150 mbps. So depending on the layout and construction of your house the wifi may be great or you may need other methods for wifi.
The telephone works as expected, but honestly I haven't had to use it much.
The modem has a nice matte finish and a relatively medium foot print. It's LED's are bright and informative. The web interface is pretty standard, with descriptions for each option of you hover your mouse over the question mark.
The Moto Sync app is a pretty decent app and relatively user friendly. You can set parental controls, block (or allow) websites, set schedules and even turn on or off wifi to specific devices on the fly.

Expensive for what it is.
Plus: if you need voice, one of the few that Comcast can actually make to work with they’re crummy, not backwards compatible upgrades.
Minus: Wi-fi range/performance is really poor.
Would recommend only if you need Phone support with Comcast.

This is the worse modem and the most expensive one I’ve had with Xfinity. It kept shutting down. The distance is shortened, needed a WIFI extender, and would not reconnect to my garage door opener.

Started out fine, but after a few weeks the internet connection now goes out constantly. We have to reset the modem at least once a day now. Motorola tech support is nearly non-existent. They havent responded to my ticket in weeks. They gave me an admin login to check my logs but the password doesnt work. Huge let down for the price. This brand isn’t what it used to be.

Works well, once you get Xfinity technicians to reset your service configuration and fully update configuration for the new gateway (modem + router).
It took me 3 or 4 calls and multiple hours to work with Xfinity support and advanced technicians before all services were correctly restored once I first alerted Xfinity that I wanted to change my owned modem/routed.
