Very happy with this laptop purchased on sale for one hundred dollars off list price over a month ago. Used part of that savings to purchase another 8 GB of DRAM. Hynix 8GB DDR4 PC4-25600 3200MHz 260-pin SO-DIMM matched what was installed and was easy to install for 16 GB of RAM. The SSD drive is NVME and reasonably fast (see attached). The keyboard is backlit with 3 levels. The keyboard is pure chick-let: all flat wide keys. The top row is nice and provides features you'd normally have to use the function key to access, like screen brightness. They track-pad is works well, which is a nice change from previous low-to-mid range laptops I've owned. That said, there are no left or right click buttons: it's all tapping with one and two fingers. Again, this works well, but something I miss when wanting to be 100% sure of a click. The screen is good. It has poor reviews, but it works well for indoor browsing and office work. There is very little bloatware installed. I actually like the Creator Center as it is unobtrusive and provides quick control over the power profile from the tray. Fan is annoying you? Select Silent mode and the fan spins down. Battery life is good, too. Stay in silent mode with the screen brightness down and the keyboard back-lighting off and the thing will run for 6 or so hours. It is thin and light and quite stylish, but does pick up finger prints. Overall, very happy with this lower mid-range laptop. Oh, did have a problem getting the camera to work. The fix for me was to reset the computer (small hole on the bottom) which reset the BIOS. Sounds worse than it is, but it did take a while to find that resolution.

NOTE: This is an immediate review after receipt and Windows now set up how I like. This is a FANTASTIC machine. The screen is crisp and bright. The build is sleek and solid. Ultra-thin with almost non-existentent screen bezel. I absolutely love the keyboard. It's quiet with large keys and no numeric keypad (I don't want for laptop). The backlighting is amazing...it is only exposed on key edges so it doesn't blind you (no direct light). The finish is clean and sharp. Very light. Bigger SSD than many priced at this point. I'm upgrading a 6 year old Dell XPS and couldn't be happier. Has a bit of bloat but nothing crazy. Can always do a fresh Windows install is needed. Didn't have to install drivers (some have said that's necessary). Very fast. Quick boots and snappy. I'm so glad I skipped on many other deals and took the plunge on my first MSI. Went on sale a couple times (BF2020 and two weeks later). Paid $499.99 + tax.

Compared to the price, it is the best deal. I got it at a discount and cost 550$. Previously I used HP and Lenevo and from my experience in this price range, this laptop is far better than others. It has a decent look, very lightweight, less bezel, handy keyboard with backlight, great battery backup and very good cooling system. I run Comsol Multiphysics software most of the time and there is no heating and no lagging while browsing chrome or using other software. I must recommend it if you buy any laptop in this price range.

I need an inexpensive laptop for flights and when mobile for my creative needs. Upgraded ram to 32gig and added another NVMe SSD. This laptop handles Ableton Live 11 very well. Also does well with Photoshop, Illustrator and Premiere. Overall, I'm impressed with the quality and value.

The hinges are breaking apart. The mousepad does not perform the hold/drag function. 5 of the keys on the keyboard have stopped working including ENTER key. Extremely cheap components. Only pro is that it can handle over 100 tabs on chrome without lagging which is nice. I regret this purchase and will never purchase another MSI product again.

Performance - 4/5 The Intel Core i5 processor and 8GB of memory are doing a solid job of keeping up with my multitasking needs. From work tasks to streaming and light photo editing, it handles everything without breaking a sweat. While it's not a powerhouse for heavy-duty tasks, it's definitely got the performance for everyday use. Storage - 5/5 The 512GB SSD is a game-changer. Not only does it give me ample space for my files and apps, but it also boots up the laptop in a flash. No more waiting around – it's ready to go almost instantly. Design - 5/5 I'm a sucker for sleek and minimalistic designs, and the Modern 15 delivers. The black finish is classy, and the laptop is incredibly thin and lightweight. It's a breeze to carry around, and it looks great on any desk. Display - 4/5 The 15.6" display is crisp and vibrant, perfect for work and entertainment. While the Full HD resolution is great, I might have appreciated a bit more screen real estate for enhanced productivity. Battery Life - 4/5 The battery life is decent. I'm getting around 6-7 hours of use with mixed tasks, which is good enough for a day on the go. However, if you're planning for longer trips, having a charger handy might be a good idea. Keyboard and Touchpad - 4/5 The keyboard is comfortable to type on, and the keys have a nice tactile feel. The touchpad is responsive, though it could be a bit larger for more precise navigation. Connectivity - 4/5 The range of ports is pretty decent. It's got USB-A and USB-C, an HDMI port, and a microSD card slot. While it covers most of my needs, an extra USB-C port would have been a nice addition. Value - 4/5 Considering the performance, storage, and design, this laptop offers solid value for the price. It's not the cheapest option out there, but you're getting a reliable and stylish machine. Overall - 4.5/5 To sum it up, the MSI Modern 15 A10M-455 laptop in black is hitting the mark for me. It strikes a balance between performance, design, and portability, making it a great choice for students, professionals, and casual users. If you're in need of a laptop that combines style and functionality without breaking the bank, this one is definitely worth a closer look. It's become my trusty companion for both work and play!

I'll start by saying, this is not a $2000 laptop, so you have to manage expectations. That said, it is an EXCELLENT machine. I got it for $550, and I can't imagine a better value at this price point. In terms of looks/feels: great looking machine, pretty black brushed metal look, and feels like a solid and well built machine. The backlit keyboard is bright and nice. In terms of performance: The 10th gen i-5 processor provides ample power for typical school/office applications. If you need to run CAD, compile massive code, or heavy graphics work, this is not the machine. The 8gb of RAM is a bit limited for 2021, but for $50 you can buy an additional 8gb and its a 5 minute upgrade with instructions on YouTube. The SSD is fast and large. The keyboard has nice travel and accuracy and is pleasant to type on. I will say, there is an ever so slight rattle at times when typing, but not enough to bother me. Trackpad is a bit small, but accurate and responsive. Overall: I think you will be hard pressed to find a better value at $550 and is a solid contender for average school/office use. It's not a gaming PC, or a creative machine, but it's a very viable everyday workhorse for your typical home/office/school workflow. I'm very happy with it.

I purchased this when it was on sale for $549.99. I couldn't pass up the deal because it's an MSI laptop. It has a Intel i5 10th Gen, 8GB Ram DDR4, and 512GB Storage. For the price it is a great value in a nice package. It's definitely not perfect and has some issues from what I've observed using for over Pros -Nice 1080p with good colors -Upgradability (Upgraded to 32GB DDR4 2600) -Plenty of storage space -Backlit Keyboard -Battery Life (I get around 9-10hrs) -Price Cons -Not so quiet (CPU and GPU fans are always constant spinning at 3000 RPM). MSI Control Center fan control doesn't work. -Not meant for gaming -Barrel plug charger (Wish they used USB C) -Screen could be brighter -Fingerprint magnet -Integrated graphics

I really like this computer. It's beautiful, and it's fast. I'm able to run multiple apps on it no problem, while also running multiple tabs in my browser (I use Opera GX). The backlit keyboard is great too because I'm able to work in the dark. The charging cord is a good length, around 6ft, and it's got a good amount of USB ports. One thing I really like in particular is the Creator Center, which allows you to change the type of performance your computer has. There's a button for it on the keyboard (f7) which allows you to easily switch through the presets (high performance, balanced, silent, and super battery). I also play many games on this computer so I'm able to talk about how they run. Minecraft runs great, as well as Sims 4, Hue, Jackbox Party Pack, Among Us, and The Stanley Parable. If you wanted to play higher quality games, like Fortnite, get a gaming computer. I was able to play Fortnite, but on very low quality. Something like Darwin Project runs a bit better, but it's still laggy. Overall though, this is a great computer, and I love it. It definitely feels more expensive than the price.

Not bad. I had an MSI long time ago and now I got this one. I bought it for the price. Was kind of good and I am really not disappointed. The computer itself is perfect. Perfect hardware in and out. Keyboard is nice and the screen is sharp. Not big fan of touchscreen on laptops. Battery doesn't last as claimed. But 4 horus was possible. Very good for daily tasks and some gaming. Not on the heavy side but on the nice shape side. I'd recommend it if you are looking for a laptop to use every day. Win10 can be problematic but with patience you can get there. It will take some times to install all the updates and stuff..

Without a doubt the strength of this laptop is it's appearance. This even goes to the packaging (double-boxed and wrapped up in better quality than Lenovo/Dell/HP Peers for example). And then the machine itself with it's dragon logo and black metal construction looks like it could have cost 2x as much! Then for the actual quality and features, it's solid overall with a few minor shortcomings. Pros - Light weight for 15-inch (3.5lbs) - Quality look and feel - Decent screen - Excellent backlit keyboard W/O number pad (a plus for me, maybe not for you, but the big keys are good for extensive typing). - Very easy to upgrade (all the components easily accessible, except for the stupid seal!) - Dual-channel ram -512GB ssd is 2x the usual at this price point. Cons - 10th gen processor - 'Factory seal' trying to scare you from upgrading - Lack of number pad (if that bothers you) Overall absolutely worth it at under $700 or less.

I got this computer for my daughter (18, in her last year of high school, planning to take this computer to college) and she loves it! It's super fast, the 512GB of storage space is extremely useful, and it is very easy to use. She was using a Mac before, and a big issue she had was the storage, and now, she has nearly five times what she had on her MacBook. Even though this isn't a gaming computer, all of her games still run very well, but she only plays simple games like the Sims, nothing too complex. The backlit keyboard is also a great plus. Overall, we are very happy with this product. The only thing is that she prefers to use a Bluetooth mouse because the trackpad is a little difficult to use, but nothing too bad.

(So far 4 stars as have only owned it a few weeks. Will try to update this in time if this outperforms.) For the money, lap is a good deal. It was on sale for $499 a bit ago though the price seems to change frequently. 512GB harddrive is nice and was a big selling point, though when I look at the memory it states I have 343GB free of 458? am unsure where the 458 is from? I am sure Windows takes up memory, but only 20GB or so, so the SSD is partitioned oddly? Though for my usage 343GB is more than enough. This DOES have a backlit keyboard which is a huge deal to me. once you have it, you'll never go back. We no longer only use laptops at a work desk with overhead lights, so backlit is a must. Its standard backlight (white) and touching the button you can change it between 3 levels of brightness (nice) Keys are larger then my other laptops keyboard, I think this is due to there not being a separate numeric keypad on the right side like some laptops have. My old laptop has that and I never used it so the larger keys are a HUGE plus. In the future I will look for this in a purchase. Keys type well too....they feel good. Laptop feels a bit flexy when carrying w/ one hand (when its open and booted up), so its not something that will take abuse IMO. Has multiple USB ports which is nice. 3 total I believe. Also an HDMI port. It does NOT have an ethernet port though it does come w/ an ethernet dongle you plug into a USB port. This did work when I plugged the laptop into my router so it appears the drivers for the USB ethernet dongle are already on the laptop (read something different elsewhere). Ethernet (hardwire) access is important as to program a router you need to plug it into a laptop (well mine does anyway). So a big deal. Registering the laptop w/ MSI was a bit quirky - it pops up a box when the laptop is booted up but I had to go do it online as that popup box did not work. I would encourage you to go that route. It could use a little more RAM but if you're not gaming and the like it doesn't matter. I would not buy a laptop w/ 8GB of RAM if I were huge into gaming. Screen is nice and bright and views well. I state this as I picked up a HP first (returned it) and the screen was really washed out and hard to see. Unclear how they design theirs but it affirmed I would not buy a HP again (at least not a low end model) Pretty sure this does not support WIFI6, though neither does my router so that wasnt a big deal to me. Am sure in 5+ years it'll be more standard and most laptops will use it and come w/ it. No CD or DVD drive on the unit, though many new laptops dont seem to have them due to the Cloud. Make sure you disable all of Win 10s data collection if you buy this - its really invasive (g*ogle it).

Great laptop. I bought this for school, I have some other MSI products in my gaming pc. Their quality certainly shows. Good metallic feeling laptop with some weight to it, doesn't feel cheap. Quick to boot, the i5 and 8gb ram is great for having 30 tabs going at one time. Great for every day use, battery lasts a good while too. It came preinstalled with norton antivirus, which I had to remove immediately, otherwise no complaints.

I love my new laptop. It is small and light weight. I love the keys being lit up. It is fast. The only thing I miss is the side numbers. I'm used to the numbers on the side from work. It is a minor change though. It's just getting used to typing the numbers in at the top, which I first learned on a regular type writer. That tells you how old I am. I would definitely suggest this to my friends. It's a great price for a fast computer and light weight. It's perfect for all my needs.

I got this on sale for about $530. I immediately ordered another 8GB of RAM, and added a 970 to use as the system drive instead of the stock drive, which is now storage. The system is much more responsive with those additions. I found the stock drive to be much slower than expected for m.2, and 8GB of RAM is not enough anymore. For the price I paid, I am very happy with the speed of the system, the design is very sleek and service friendly, all around a professional looking unit. I like the metal body, plastic shells are not attractive to me. The screen is also very nice. Not so much for games, but it does great for video or general tasks. The panel never looks washed out and it is easy to watch a movie with other people. Some of my games looked blurry when a lot of motion was going on, so I would not recommend the screen for FPS games or other titles where that would be a problem. All in all, I am really happy with this computer.
