I needed a replacement for an older Netgear Cable Modem that was getting a little intermittent after several years of 24/7 use. This unit is solid, the installation was well documented, and the Best Buy personnel gave me a few hints to make sure I got the cable company to sync with the new box. Basically this is a commodity item, with no big discounts available, so I got it quickly and at a fair price at my local Best Buy, and I was glad to speak to the very knowledgeable people there who left me with no surprises during the installation (I had no problem doing it myself, since the Geek Squad is obeying COVID-19 rules).

It has better speed . For those who don't understand what modem they are gonna choose. I highly suggest this one . It has 16 downstream better then the standard 8 streams you get on other products . For those who don't understand this it's like a highway, you have 8 streams and sometimes it was have traffic, this modem has 16 lanes so traffic won't stop it will just keep going, it's a bigger highway with more lanes for passing. This is will prevent lag and produce faster internet speeds. Highly recommend this for gaming and video streaming. Also highly suggest it gets paired with the nighthawk ac1900wifi router.

Avoid the “equipment rental fee” from your ISP!

I bought this as I was moving into a new home and the cable provider I contacted had a “self-install” option where you can hook up your cable on your own. They recommended purchasing your own cable modem to avoid “renting” the equipment from them. I was shocked at how easy the entire process was, but was exceptionally pleased with the performance of the modem. Easy, fast, and intuitive to set up. Performance is off the charts! I will always use my own modem from now on.

I've owned this modem just over a month and is working as advertised and expected. Originally, I purchased the Netgear CM400 because it was cheaper, but realized after the fact that it only supports download speeds up to 100 Mbps with TWC. Since I subscribe to 200 Mbps, I needed to buy this model which supports up to 300 Mbps on TWC. Make sure you check into the modem models and speeds your ISP provider supports before making your purchase. I paired this modem with the Netgear R6400 router and it works great. I got this modem a little cheaper since Best Buy price matches to items sold and shipped by Amazon.

Works great and was easy to install! I even had to upgrade my internet for streaming on multiple devices and it was fast enough to work for that too. No outages or buffering or any problems yet (owned for 1 month).

Purchased this to use with XFINITY 150 Mbps internet service so I wouldn't have to pay for equipment rental. I had no issues installing it and it works great, plus it is nice and small.

This modem works as it should. Good price (was on sale). I already have a router. Time Warner now charges $10/month to lease their modem. This will pay for itself in well under a year. It was fairly simple to set up.

For some reason I still like to get the modem and wifi routers separately. I guess I figure that separate units are more affordable when one of them quits. And, let's face it, they *can* clunk out on you.
Setting up my son's first apartment from three days drive away, so I needed to pick gifts - a router and a modem...and a vacuum cleaner - that were reliable, reasonably priced, and had the necessary features. I checked with his net provider and this had the Docsis 3.0 and speed ratings that they recommended. Found a few reliable tech review sites that had reviews of lower-priced products as well as the latest/greatest stuff. This one featured on several lists.
Bought it. Son picked it up in-store out West. Tech people installed it. Son is pleased with it. Thanks for making me the hero, BestBuy.

I wanted to save some money by not having to rent a modem from my provider (Time Warner). I purchased the CM500 since this was an approved modem from Time Warner and I have always had good luck with Netgear products. It was a breeze to set up with just one call to my provider to activate it and I was up and running with the same thru-put as I had been getting (237/23MB) with the modem that my provider had supplied. And the good news is I will break even in costs in under 1 year of ownership. I have had the modem for almost a month now and have not experienced any issues.

Fast and Reliable Internet

Had a little trouble connecting for the first day. I would have internet for five minutes then it would drop out while I was still fully connected to my router; I just didn’t have internet. I probably had to reboot it ten times the first day to get anything out of it. Time seemed to heal this as by the next day it didn’t have any issues, kept a steady connection and has been flawless for 4 months.
The modem is far faster than the internet that I pay for and the router I use, so it’s hard for me to say what it’s limits are as I’ll never reach them. In that respect, should be good for future proofing.
The last good thing I’ll mention is the status lights are visible on the front but very small. This is awesome as some companies install night lights on these things that are all far too bright when the router is placed on an entertainment stand. I used to have to place tape over the lights on my last one to not have the lights strobing in my living room. I wish more products had lights like this.
Only downside is the feet are not removable and the product must stand vertical. This cannot be set down flat.

I decided to purchase this one over the Motorola one because of the better price and I do not regret it at all. I got it for about $80 after CA taxes and it has been phenomenal. I was getting great speeds on my time warner 300/20 plan with my old dual band n router but once I upgraded it to an ac1900 I hit ~240 Mbps download constantly and over 20 Mbps upload. Hard wired to a computer also gives you these speeds. Great value for the money

Not much to say on this one. Great price and set up was a cinch. I have Comcast and can only speak towards that experience. After plugging it all in, I followed the directions on how to set it up on the Comcast site. I honestly had it up and running in like 15 min after unboxing. I get the full speeds promised by Comcast too. I see zero difference between this and the box I was renting from Comcast. That’s all I wanted. Same performance and no monthly fee.

Works With Spectrum High Speed Internet

Works great with Spectrum internet service. Easy to set up and configure. I was up and running in about 20 minutes, after registering the MAC address with Spectrum. Does not need to be reset often, but maybe that is more of a Comcast anomaly that doesn't happen with Spectrum.

My cable is Spectrum. Instructions on Spectrum's website said I can install my own modem by myself, but it needed to be manually configured on Spectrum's end so Spectrum helped me out on the phone. At the time I bought the CM500, it wasn't in Spectrum's list of authorized modems. So I was looking to buy the more expensive CM600. However, the associate at BestBuy pointed out the CM500 was compatible and has more speed than Spectrum offered so I went for it and saved quite a bit of change. I'm happy with the CM500 and saved myself the monthly rental fee.
