When you want to install a network printer or add another wired device, this switch makes it super fast and easy.

It's a consumer grade unmanaged switch, however it's a solid performer and have used it in light duty corporate applications.

I was truly impressed with this simple but very effective switch. I plugged it in and worked right away no problems at all.

Needed to split a cat 5 going to the basement for DIRECTV, Xbox and computer. Plugged it in ran the cat 5 and have had zero issues.

I have several of the NETGEAR - 5-Port Gigabit Ethernet Switch devices. These compact devices provide excellent throughput while performing silently. Many of my LAN-based devices are clustered together, such as a media location with a TV, Receiver, Blu-Ray DVD, Media Player, and other devices. Other locations include a PC, network printer and VOIP box. The 5-port switch is ideal to extend "wired" LAN connectivity to these types of clusters. They work in concert with a NETGEAR Router and 8-port Gigabit switch located next to the cable modem.

I bought 4 of these for my office. About once a week I have to power cycle one of the units to get the internet working again. Aside from that, they work exactly the way they are supposed to. Just make sure that you put it in an easy to reach location.
