I bought a product before this and I was getting awful internet speeds for my Desktop that I just got. After reading some of the reviews on here I decided to get this product, I am SO happy I did. I went from having an internet connection of 3 MBPS, to 45 MBPS on Speedtest.net! I am in a completely different room than my router/internet connection and this picks up the signal with NO problem. The softwear is very easy to set up. Everything is super easy straight out of the box. Probably one of the best products for the pricing.

Perfect basic adapter for a non-wireless machine

This adapter is perfect for getting a non-wireless computer or other device up and running. I have an old Windows XP desktop (was originally SP2, though I updated it to SP3 once I had this going), and my room isn't in a convenient place to run a wire to the router. As such, unsure if this would reach back to XP SP2, I tried this adapter out. To my surprise, it picked up the router signal before I even had a chance to run the setup disc, which may, in fact, not even have been at all necessary for the setup process (except for anyone who would prefer something to take their hand through the whole process step-by-step). It's been running great ever since then. HD streaming on YouTube has no issues, and neither does anything else. If you aren't looking to just go to town on big-screen, full 1080 streaming or high-def online gaming, this adapter should do the trick.

Price was reasonable in my opinion. I am not a "techie" and this product was easy to set up. The desktop that this is installed on is in another room down a long hallway and it still works great.

This has been, hands down, one of the easiest installs of a wireless NIC device I've ever experienced. Truly this was plug and play; you press the button on the USB NIC card, hit the button on your router and you're connected. It's that easy. The software set up easily and the device works flawlessly. I have great reception (full four bars at all times) at my desktop and our router is in the next room over. The internet's never dropped nor has it ever noticeably decreased in speed. The software is easy to use, too. Finally, I like the stand that came with the device and the device itself is a nice mirror piano coating. All in all, I would buy this again in a heart beat.

During a home visit from the cable company, I shared with the rep that I was in the process of a 30 day move out from a LAN line office environment to a home office. I was now bringing home an office computer with no wireless card and was intimidated at what I thought would be a daunting task setting up a home network with shared drives. The cable company was offering the Netgear N300 at no cost to new subscribers. He had a spare in the truck and left it with me, then gave me his number and said that if I had any problems to call him. I read reviews of the N300 online and for the cost, I questioned its strength. Not only was it pretty much a plug and play setup, but it was able to travel through the concrete walls of my home and 100 feet down my driveway. I’m in the production industry and we do a lot of large media file transfers to ftp’s. The N300 had no problem handling an 88 file/16GB transfer. Only a few months after using the N300, it was crushed during a computer move. This is my 2nd N300 and is still an incredible bargain. There are a few things that could have been done better, but namely, the weight of all the components. The support stand is too light to balance if the cord has even the slightest tension on it. I have to prop it between 2 heavier objects to stabilize it. The other complaint is the durability, but that probably isn’t specific to this item. I can only compare it to a friend’s Verizon hotspot card that had been loaned to me during the interim. The unit was heavier and had a solid, dense plastic and case that protected the unit well. The N300 comes with no case. And holding it, you can tell that it needs to be handled with care. Finally, the mandatory product registration: not a fan. Maybe this is an FCC regulation. I don't think so, but you have to register the product before you can use it. The other unit was crushed on the day of a big job. On a limited time constraint, I was stuck registering a product, which held up production. Aside from the expletives flying through my mind as I trudged through registration, the new unit was up and running fairly quickly. For the price, and despite these few shortcomings, this is the best unit out there.

I needed to get a Wi-Fi connection to the old computer I have in my office. I put our modem in a central location in our large home, so my office is not close enough to run an ethernet cable from the modem to the PC. I just needed something that would allow our child to get on the internet and be able to do homework. This was the perfect solution. It's very affordable and extremely easy to setup. Just follow the prompts and plug it into your USB port and it's done. Never loses the signal and it's plenty fast for surfing the web and emailing.

Love this item!! I have a Dell XP that I did not realize it had no wireless card installed. Moved it to a room with no internet cable and needed access. Bought this on recommendation of Best Buy sales person. It looks like a pony stick however this unit actually has a base that allows you to place it out of the way!! So flexible. Easy to set up and use. However you do need a CD rom player hooked to computer or installed to get this set up. Very resonable in price.

Thanks to Windows 10 being a pain with laptops like mine, my wifi card failed (thanks Microsoft). I went to Best Buy and the Geek Squad worked to solve the problem for an hour. Finally they said I can just buy the Netgear USB adapter for $30 instead of buying a new laptop. They really saved me because I do not know anything about computers and would have just bought a new one if recommended. It works perfectly now.

This adapter did everything I needed it to and only for 20 bucks. It is compatible with Windows 8.1 which is the main reason I chose it, because my other usb adapter would not work on my newly built computer. The range is outstanding as I am over 50 feet and 3 rooms away from my router and I always have a great signal. I keep mine tucked away behind my monitor on the docking station which is angled which prevents it from easily tipping over. I would recommend this product.

I got this for my dad when his laptops wireless card went out. I asked him to email me his experience as a 70-something tech-lost man of mystery. "I was able to plug the USB drive in and download the software with no issues. I was able to identify the wireless network and sign right on the first time. The signal was strong and it was very easy to use." I highly recommend this adapter for anyone that has minimum tech skills and needs to hook up a computer to a wireless router.

Needed a WiFi card for my mother's desktop. To be honest, I only got this because it was the cheapest thing at the nearest Best Buy location. Still, I was pleasantly surprised how fast it was. Beats the reception on the old PCI card we had before, and this even comes with a little extension cord + cradle so that you can put the actual received further away from the PC and closer to the router. All in all pretty happy.

The N300 is perfect for desktop systems that don't have built in wireless. Just pop it in. It easily detected our wireless network, and I was able to log in without a problem. The performance is more than adequate for playing online games and streaming video. I have had zero issues with the device since installing it. In terms of bang for the buck, you can't go wrong with the N300.

This item is easily installed and works fine. My Netgear N900 adapter had failed after three years and this N300 was the only product available in store. I was initially concerned about the speed difference but after five weeks I have found no difference in service at all. This unit works great!

First, I thought I would have to buy a new computer since mine wasn't equipped with WIFI. Second, I thought I would be stuck with an expensive satellite connection. My purchase of the NETGEAR N300 USB wireless adapter has given me the tools I needed and it saves me money. Getting online is so much easier. Thank you NETGEAR.

Bought this for my mother, as the cheap Rosewill adapter I bought her a couple years ago finally died. Might be able to save a couple bucks going somewhere else, but since I was already at Best Buy, I just thought it would be easier to buy it, rather than shop around. Anyway, the CD drive in my mom's PC doesn't work, and without an internet connection, I was forced to download the drivers on my phone, transfer them via USB, install them, and then plug in the wireless USB adapter. Kind of a bad workaround, but not the fault of the manufacturer. Anyway, once I got the driver installed and plugged in the adapter, everything worked quickly and seems to hold a pretty good connection. No complaints, and now Mom is happy that she doesn't have to use her Kindle for everything, haha. Setup was simple, works pretty well, and not stupidly expensive. Would recommend for basic internet and wi-fi. For faster speeds w/a better router, maybe the dual-band or better speeds would work better, but this is basic internet with a somewhat old router. No need for anything fancy.

I recently moved and need to set up my desk top computer. I did want it where the phone jack was located. I didn't want to pay $85. to add a jack. I used the wireless adapter and now I can put it where I want, as long as it can reach the electrical plug. It's worked great. It only took a few minutes to set it up.

Easy to understand, easy to use. This little NIC does just fine, and offers any computer without built-in Wi-Fi a convenient method of connecting to your network! Signal strength isn't exemplary, but it is still very solid for such a small unit!

I purchased this item because we only have one connection in our house to connect a wireless router, and it's not in our office. We have a computer that's over 4 years old and it didn't come with a wireless card. I purchased this product since it looked like it would have a good connection speed and hoping that it would fit in the small area that we store our home computer in our office. It did in fact fit in the area and even came with an "extension cord" of sorts to connect the wireless device to the computer without having to have it directly taking up the space needed on the computer. It looks like a regular USB, so that should give you the general size parameters. Either way, it works really well with my computer and was really easy to set up. No complaints yet:)
