Very good for the money. Good quality picture both front and rear. I used Best Buy's Geek Squad for the install and they did a nice job hiding all the wires and getting power to the camera cleanly. Glad the SD card was included.

Finally an easy rear camera to mount

First impressions - very well packed. Box was tight with everything inside, no wasted space. Plenty of cable. And even an extra mounting pad for the main dash cam - I really liked that touch. I was going to detract a star because they're using an ancient USB mini plug on the dashcam. And I immediately take away a star for anything at the end of 2025 that uses anything other than USB C. But there are just so many other good points with this kit I noted right out of the box, before I even started getting things hooked up to test, that I decided I'd let this one slide. I've had dashcams for years. Many types, but the only ones I stuck with were my Cobra radar detector that included a dash cam, and what replaced it, an Escort MAXcam 360c radar detector with an integrated dashcam. I liked the simplicity of radar plus dash cam in one. But I've always wanted one for the rear. And the problem with rear mounting is the lines on the window for the rear defroster. That leaves it impossible to use suction cup type mounts, and I wouldn't use a two way adhesive type thing over those since it could damage them especially during removal. This has an absolutely perfect rear mount design. It's a narrow oval with an adhesive base that fits easily BETWEEN the defroster lines, so you don't have to worry about anything. And the magnetic connection of the camera ball to that oval mounting point means it's easy to position the spherical rear camera just how you need it. Brilliant. I saw in some reviews for this that one guy took it to Best Buy to install. I wouldn't get a system that can only be installed by a pro. But a little search, and I found my new vehicle that I got this year has a nice 10 pin power plug for the rearview mirror behind a simple little pop out panel. Found the adapter online that is that 10 pin cable male and female to go in between, with a USB power out plug that can be tucked behind the mirror. Perfect for this since it comes with a short USB cable that will let this give me the cleanest install. Only downside now is the cable for the rear camera. I don't mind it on the floor in back and on the seat, my kid graduated and moved out three and a half years ago, so I have nothing to deal with in back seats anymore. If I had this mounted low on the dash, I could just tuck it between the dash and window around the sides and down to the floor and under the seats and such. But if I mount it up high by the mirror now with this adapter, I'm going to have to do a better job of hiding the cable to the rear... Oh well... Playing with it powered off of my computer, it asked me to format the SD card after the initial insertion. Then when I pulled it out of my Surface Pro's USB port to let it be powered somewhere else, it did a little shutdown like everything does. But immediately said the SD card is bad and required it to be reformatted. Since this is the exact same thing it will experience when I turn off the car (power loss) this was a bit concerning. So I did it again. And this time I had no issue. And the multiple times afterwards it had no issues. And after three or four weeks of driving, no issues. I love the muted little tone for powering on and off. My Escort has a loud, "Camera ON" and "Camera OFF" when the car starts and turns off. But you can also completely mute the sounds from here in the menus, which is what I opted for. This is a pretty basic system, no bells and whistles. It's only 1080, but still is enough for what you need it for. No wireless to pull videos off, you have to yank the card. But in a way that's also one of its strengths. I've had the complex ones, and they were usually more hassle and trouble than they were worth. But having the rear camera plugged in, I can never get it "seen" by the main camera, so I only have the single front cam going. Working through the menu options I see nothing else. Had no need to update the firmware, what was on their website showed the same version. But their website was flaky the night I was looking, lots of page not found errors there, so they may have been dealing with some server side issues. Looking the next day I didn't experience those problems. And absolutely nothing still is getting me the rear camera. I've got it plugged in fully (since on the barrel cable part of the short cable from the rear camera, there's actually indents on the ends that have to mesh to fully insert it. Otherwise it seems like it's connected but it isn't. Even verifying that, this system will NOT see my rear camera at all. It took me about 10 or 15 minutes of unplugging, replugging, unplugging, replugging, before it finally recognized there was a rear camera connected. And yes, I was powering off the dash cam every time since it warns you to only disconnect or reconnect the rear camera when the main unit is powered off. The following day my little rearview mirror power adapter cable arrived, so I got that installed, tested with the dash cam, and it powered it just fine. So about 10 minutes worth of mounting and I was up and running, including the rear camera. I cheated for now, have the cable along the roof using the spring loaded hand holds on both driver and rear left passenger door to run the cable out of the way for testing, and then used a Velcro strap to hold the majority of it coiled up behind the rear seat where the cargo cover goes. Ultimately if I keep this active in here I'll get it ran better. But for testing, this worked well. The rear cam was as expected a piece of cake to mount. Took it for the first spin at night. Front cam worked well at night. I have a 2025 Hyundai Kona Limited with excellent lighting at night. So the view was good, and the camera had a clear view. The rear cam, however, really suffers at night. The picture has a TON of noise - I've posted photos showing just how much noise is scattered through the image. And if you're like me with a center mounted rear brake light that has been mandated for decades, when you hit the brake, the rear cam becomes basically useless. But during my night drive test, when I was in a place with more light (such as a corner by a stoplight with lots of streetlights around) then it wasn't as bad. Next day during daylight, all looks better, even the rear, but the rear still has issues. I don't know if it is from the sensitivity they set it for to try to see things better at night, but the front camera is obviously right against the front windshield, but even with sun glare, it's not bad and not getting reflections of light off of the windshield. The rear still gets totally washed out sometimes on one side or the other depending on where the sun is positioned in relation to my vehicle. When there aren't issues like that, the rear camera is at least OK. Not as good as the front, but better than nothing. Interestingly enough, if you wear polarized glasses, the screen will be not visible during the day - looks like it is turned off, unless you lean to the center and get right behind it, then you can kind of see it again. So this is a really mixed bag. I love having a rear camera, but it's uninspiring at best, useless at worst. Love the fact that they had such a great way to mount it and position it, but the picture quality just suffers so much in dark light. But it's at least better during the day, when the sun isn't glaring at the rear of the vehicle. I've kept it installed, and am happy for the video coverage of the rear of the car I never had before. I'd give it 3 stars normally, but finally having something to easily mount in the back between the defroster lines earns back one of those stars despite the lackluster video quality depending on the lighting. It's still better than having no rear cam at all like I've done for year.

      Hello,

Thank you for such a thoughtful and detailed review.

We’re truly glad the packaging, cable length, and extra mounting pad made a strong first impression, and especially happy that the rear camera mount design worked so well with your defroster lines, that’s exactly the use case it was engineered for.

We also appreciate your balanced perspective on simplicity versus added features, and we’re pleased the system has ultimately delivered the added rear coverage you were looking for.

Your real-world installation and usage insights are incredibly valuable, and we’re grateful you took the time to share them.

If you are looking for a no frills basic dash cam that does it all, the 320XR is it. Dash cams have come a long way and Nextbase makes this one easy. This one comes with everything you need to be up and running in under an hour in most cases. This package includes both the front and rear cameras. Whether you are a city driver looking to protect yourself or an everyday driver, drive with confidence knowing you are covered. It is awesome that this unit comes with a 32GB MicroSD card. You get both mounts and all cables needed. It is packaged well and all labeled well. After unpacking, make sure your dash cam has the latest firmware. They make it easy to do. Plus they include a Road Safety Club to let people know you are protected. The quick start guide is easy to follow. Thankfully it is in color and well written. There are bar codes you can scan to help with installation. Install took me about 90 minutes and I really took my time. That includes cleaning the windows well both inside and out. Make sure your inside windows are clean and dry for proper mount installation. Running the wires takes the longest. There is a pry tool that helps remove panels and/or push wires behind locations. Each vehicle is different and it depends on how well you want to hide the cables. Of course running the cable to the back is the trickiest. You get 26 feet of cable. Just map it out first before installation. Then take your time if you are going to remove panels to hide the cables for the neatest install. A wire hanger can come in handy here. If once installed, it is up and running almost right away. After using the camera for over a week, I am happy to report the unit works great. Recordings are easy to retrieve and the picture is bright and clear. Night time and dark scenes look decent and most things can be seen. The 2.5” display is easy to see and the colors look very good. The 1080P display is plenty clear to see the details in almost all pictures. The parking mode is handy and thankfully we haven’t been hit while using the unit. But we know we’d be covered. If you are looking for an easy to use dash cam with most of the bells and whistles that just works, then the 320XR is the go to unit. I would highly recommend it for almost any driver and any vehicle.

The Nextbase 320XR is a great, compact dash camera that also provides rear protection and coverage. the kit comes with a front and rear camera, as well as a 32GB SD card. You could put a larger one in if you want to have more videos saved before it rolls over and wipes old footage. Unfortunately, there is only a 12V power cable with the kit, so if you want to connect to the OBD2 or hardwire to the fuse box you'll need get an extra kit. The fuse box kit from Nextbase is about $30. Installation is pretty straight forward, stick the cameras to the glass and try to cleanly hide the cables. If you've got a large, long vehicle, great news is you'll have plenty of wire to run all the way to the back. If you've got a smaller, shorter car, you're going to have a lot of extra wire tucked up in your ceiling or however you decide to route it. being a more basic setup, there is no app connected to it to monitor from your phone, you can review through the screen. the camera is fairly small form factor that you can hide it behind the rearview mirror so its not in your eyeline while you drive. Rear camera is a little bulky so depending on your car, you'll definitely notice (see pictures) Resolution is pretty clear even in the evening. the night vision is quite clear as seen in the pictures. The screen is pretty bright, especially at night, but thankfully you can turn the screen off while driving. Its tricky to find, so read the manual haha Overall, its a pretty solid camera for the price,

Unboxing the Nextbase 320XR you’ll find the main front dash cam, the rear camera, the base mount for the main front dash cam with spare adhesive pads, a 13ft 12V accessory outlet (cigarette lighter) power cable, a 26ft video cable cable extension for the rear camera, a 32GB MicroSD card with an SD adapter, and some basic graphical installation instructions. The front camera is pretty small measuring approximately 3.2" x 1.8" x 1.8". The rear camera is even smaller, being a 1.8” sphere. The cables provided are generous in length and have a heavy, quality feel to them, without being so thick that they’re difficult to hide. The adhesive pads are good quality 3M pads and adhere very well. General installation, not taking into account your specific model vehicle, is pretty easy. Mount the base to the windshield, mount the smaller camera to the rear window, connect and run the video extension cable (ensure the teeth on the connector are properly engaged), run the power cable to a power source, then install the MicroSD card. After that, just configure the camera for date and time and your preferences (mic enabled/disabled, video clip length, etc), and you’re good to go. I did my own install in my Ram pickup, using the Nextbase hardwire kit that includes fuse taps, and was done in 10-15 minutes, having a super clean, unobtrusive install. Overall I have been very happy with the performance of the dashcam. The onboard screen is plenty bright, even in full daylight. The menu options are easy to understand and navigate. The camera has reliably booted up and started recording for me with each start of the car. And, reviewing the video files on my computer, the image quality has been satisfactory for what I need it for. Overall, this is a great dash cam package that should provide you additional assurance when driving for years to come.

I was looking to install front and rear dash cam and got the Nextbase 320XR Front & Rear Dash Cam which has been a solid upgrade for my car. The installation took less than 30 mins, and both cameras captures very clear Full HD footage. The rear camera adds an extra layer of security that single-camera systems do not provide, making me feel much safer on the road.  The video quality is impressive for the price, with good clarity during daytime driving and surprisingly decent night recording. It comes with a 32GB SD card, so there is no need to buy extra accessories separately. The GPS tracking is accurate and useful for reviewing routes and speed data, especially if footage ever needs to be shared.  The Wi-Fi and Bluetooth features work smoothly with the mobile app, making it easy to download clips without removing the memory card. Installation was simple, and the dash cam itself is compact and unobtrusive on the windshield. The loop recording and automatic incident detection features are working as expected, giving confidence that important moments are always saved. Additionally, the build quality of the dash cam feels sturdy and durable, ensuring it will last for a long time.  Overall, the Nextbase 320XR delivers dependable performance, helpful smart features, and great value. It is a smart choice for drivers who want front and rear coverage without spending a lot of money. I am very satisfied with my purchase and would recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable dash cam system.

The Nextbase 320 XR Rear Cam Bundle is a nice, basic dash camera with rear view capability. The kit comes with a generous eight meter long cable to connect the front and rear cameras. The kit also includes a 32 gb SD card. The front camera is powered by the 4m power cable and the rear one is powered by the cable connected to the front camera. One of my initial concerns was that the rear camera would reflect from the glass at night but the camera is very clear. The front camera controls are physical buttons. You have a few customization options of what you want to see on the screen. For example, the location of the picture-in-picture of the rear camera, or if you want to see just the front or rear cams. In my experience, Nextbase also has very good glass adhesive and the camera sticks extremely well. For installation, the kit comes with a small, plastic trim remover tool. This tool made it easy for me to run my cable from the front to the rear camera. Installation took me about 30 minutes, and i was ready to go. Overall, I am pleased that the bunfle came with everything needed to install and record (tool and SD card).

Reliable basic dash cam with decent video captures

The NextBase 320XT front and rear dash camera is what you'd want if you go for a basic yet reliable dash cam that can take decent videos. But it is not a good fit if, for instance, remote access is a must for you. The best side of this camera is how good the video captures are, under different circumstances. I have no complaints whatsoever in that department; however, I still believe this camera would be better off if it allowed remote control from your phone; at the very least, allow access to the files captured for a fast review of the videos, instead of having to rely on a PC or laptop to do so. I understand that if you are the kind of person that doesn’t like your camera to be accessed remotely (security reasons I'd assume), then this would be a perfect fit for you, but personally I think I wouldn't recommend this dash cam in general. >> Installation Although I already had experience with installing this kind of device, in fact this camera replaced another dash cam that stopped working, there is a Quick Start Guide that came in the package that helped in the installation process, and I recommend looking at it. Some observations: - Attaching the front camera base (mount) to the windshield was very easy, the only difficult part was to find the correct spot to place it. I chose the right passenger side for the front camera, and after using the camera for a while, I think I made a mistake, I should have placed it on the driver's side. I was hoping on using it to help in backing up my car, but, in that setup, the Rear camera video feed is so tiny from the driver's perspective that it is almost an impossible task to distinguish what is happening in the rear. - The camera is easy to place and extract from its base, it relies on a somehow powerful magnet to keep it place. - I can tilt the camera for better view. - Cables are long enough for my SUV or even a bigger vehicle. - It comes with an SD card, so you don't need to buy one. This is a small detail, but worth mentioning. >> Video I have the device configured to capture 1 min videos (the default setting) which produces around 66MB size rear and front videos. I think having 66MB size files seems good enough for sharing your videos if you'd want. The main camera is the front one, so it is expected that when recording, its input covers most of the display, with the rear camera occupying a smaller area of the screen. That is fine in most cases, but it is frequently the case that I'd want to only see the Rear view; for example, when backing up the car. I cannot do that, or at least I couldn’t find an option to do that, and it is one point against this device. I have no complaints about the quality of the video, and for what is offered and advertised, they abide by that. No matter the weather and light conditions, this thing captures very good videos. It could be sunny, cloudy, day, night, the videos come out decent enough. >> MyNextbase App compatibility I had to go to the device's website to make sure this one couldn't be controlled by my phone, which is a BIG bummer to an otherwise decent device. The only way to access the videos and photos is to connect the NextBase 320XT to your laptop. So, you'd need to look elsewhere if you want to remote control your device, or have access to your files, or if you want to get live videos. The latter would seem like advanced features, but it's expected that modern cameras carry some or all those features.

I’m thoroughly impressed with this base model dash cam! Despite being a budget-friendly option, it delivers everything I need for daily driving peace of mind. The dual cameras (front and rear) provide clear, wide-angle footage that captures both road activity and what's happening behind the vehicle. The audio recording is a great bonus, picking up conversations and ambient sounds, which could be crucial in case of an incident. One of my favorite features is the built-in screen—it is helpful for verifying that both cameras are capturing properly. Setup was straightforward, and the interface is easy enough to figure out . Overall, this dash cam punches above its weight. If you're looking for a dependable, no-frills camera that covers the essentials with solid performance, this is the one to get!

Fairly basic as far as dashcams go (e.g., 1k vs. 4k) but straightforward and easily useable.

So far works great, no issues. Took a minute to figure out how to get the videos pulled up on the computer, but once I did was smooth sailing. Only complaint is I wish this one was app compatible as well.

I purchased the Nextbase 320XR Front & Rear Dash Cam with 32GB SD card directly from the store. It comes with both the mini SD card and SD card adapter. With the Christmas Holidays I have not had a chance to install it yet but it's well reviewed and seems like a solid dash cam at a very reasonable price! Looking forward to seeing it in action! Tailgaters *beware*! Now I have will have proof if an accident.

I bought this item because of its affordability. The more you pay the more you get. This satisfies a person not particular about video quality or ease of installation. Video seems to be in a sort of fish eye lens for wide viewing. When reviewing video you can see everything you will need to see.

If you know how to have simple cable management this is a great choice. However I did experience a problem with mine, when I first set it up it never turned off so it ran my battery out. The quality of picture is great for the price point. It comes with everything you need just make sure you have a plan when it comes to cable management.
