Amazing tracking & comfort beyond my expectations!
||Posted . Owned for 5 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been wanting a VR headset ever since they were in development. After a few years went by, I saw the Oculus at best buy for a steal of a deal; comparing it to its original price. I also like that best buy offers a 2 year warranty, allowing me to have fun & share with friends without any worries about damage. I was extremely impressed by the tracking with just 2 sensors. (You can buy a third tracker but no rush, you can get it anytime you're ready.) This headset is also very comfortable and still fits nice & snug. You could play for hours without any discomfort. The setup is really simple. It walks you through the entire process and even makes it fun. This headset turns any simple room into a vast world to explore and discover anew realities you've never experienced.

Best choice for PC-based VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you're interested in experiencing PC games in VR, there are basically two choices: Oculus Rift Touch and HTC Vive. Rift Touch is cheaper than Vive, has glass lenses instead of fresnel lenses (sharper image), includes earphones in the headset, and is easier to set up (sensors can be placed on desktop and only require USB ports), and has far far superior controllers. Rift disadvantages compared to Vive: while you get room scale VR out of the box, when you're facing away from the two sensors, your body can obscure the controllers. For Vive-equivalent room scale, you need to buy a third sensor ($59) and place it behind you facing one of the front sensors. There's no breakout box to connect the headset to, which means the HDMI and USB cable connections coming from the headset have to be connected directly to the back of your PC. The headset and the two sensors require a total of three USB 3.0 ports. If you buy a third sensor, that needs a USB 2.0 or 3.0 port, so make sure you have four ports available. Oculus has its own game store, and it has games that are exclusive that are not available on Steam. I'm not interested in being locked into a specific VR platform when things will likely change in the future. As to the quality of the VR experience using Oculus, it is the best you can get for 2017, barring the new Samsung Windows Mixed Reality headset. I've had no trouble with the headset and software, and the tracking works well if you are careful to stay in the play area you have defined. I'm using a Ryzen 5 1600, 16 GB of RAM, and a GTX 1070 and can run all games at max settings so far. Highly recommended!

Best entertainment investment!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Even the packaging is beautiful. The level of attention to detail Oculus shows at all levels is excellent. Everything from the cords to the device itself are high quality. Setup is easy. Even the sensor setup is easy once you follow the visual directions. The graphics are stunning, and the experience is unparalleled - enhanced most of all by the Touch controllers. Whether flying in zero-gravity or waging magical duels you will lose yourself in the game and the experience. 100% recommend for all gamers both serious and casual. Recommend: You can play in a 5x5 space, but I recommend minimum 8x8 area in your home, preferably with a high enough ceiling you can't reach it while standing. Invest in a 6x6 padded foam mat so you can stand for a couple hours without shoes.

I am really enjoying these
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I went to an arcade that had a VR headset coupled with a motion platform that simulated a roller coaster ride. We enjoyed it so much that we stopped at the local Best Buy afterward and checked out the Oculus. There happened to be an Oculus rep there who demoed them for us and since the price for the complete package was reasonable at $350 we (well, more I) decided to buy a pair right then. I had been wanting them for a while so the time was finally right. Have to say I'm really enjoying them. The experience is really quite impressive, especially coupled with the right games. I bought MOSS first and had a blast playing the game. It was so immersive that sometimes you have to lift your headset up just to remember the world you're seeing isn't real. I'm playing Lone Echo now which I highly recommend. You really get the feeling of space and all its vastness. Just be careful and give yourself plenty of room. I don't know how many times I thought I was facing forward and when I took the headset off I was backward. You totally lose touch with the real world and occasionally I'll smack into something if I'm not careful. Also recommend you download the free Google Earth VR some time and travel around the world in 3D. It's quite an enjoyable experience to see the world presented in VR. Anyway, I primarily bought the Oculus because of it's great support in games, and because I'm into flight simulation and wanted to see what they would be like in that world. Wow, it is a totally different experience. It's hard to go back to a flat screen now after flying around in VR. Unfortunately manipulating the virtual controls still isn't easy but it seems to be getting better all the time. Once they nail that down I can't see ever going back to a flat screen to fly again. The sense of presence is truly remarkable. The headset itself is generally comfortable to wear. It's not overbearing, just every now and again a little too much weight will press on the bridge of my nose and get a little uncomfortable. Readjustment usually takes care of that. The lenses seem to need to be cleaned regularly or smudges start to form and the images get blurry. The headset sound is great and games that support spatial sound really pull you in with sound seeming to come from every direction. The controllers are comfortable and pretty intuitive for the most part. Setup was simple and Oculus supports several games I already have so it's great to now experience them in VR without having to buy them again. The image quality isn't as sharp as I would like, which I knew going in. To my eyes, I can see the pixels which takes away from some of the sharpness and fine details. However, after a while you get used to it and it doesn't really bother me much unless I'm trying to read some fine print on something. Gameplay is very smooth on my GTX 1080Ti and i7-7700K machine. Overall, I highly recommend these, especially at the sub $350 price. I really believe much much more is going to go to VR in the future so I think it's well worth to own a pair at this price point and point in time.

Great for VR newbies, lacking if you want the best
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I currently own the HTC Vive and Playstation VR. I decided to buy the Oculus Rift for a second time because I wanted to try out the touch controller to see how much it added to the VR experience. Although it certainly was a step up over the Move and Vive controllers, the poor lenses in the Rift cause things to look darker and give off lens flares when white text is on the screen. I also prefered the tracking fidelity I got from my Vive way more as I felt it was much more accurate and my VR hands didnt get lost. Pros: Comfy headset Light Easy to set up Best exclusives and no workaround needed to play any VR game touch controls feel more natural than VR wands Cons: Headset made me nauseous while the Vive never has lens flare inaccurate tracking unless you buy 3rd sensor If you are new to VR and want a solid performer and dont want to spend 599- get the Rift. However, if you are willing to spend a bit more I would say go with the Vive and wait for the new controllers that are similar to the touch to come out. Thats what I will be doing.

Too much fun
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was skeptical about VR. I bought the rift on sale but would have paid full price. It doesn’t need as much room as the Vive which was perfect for me. It was super simple to get up and running. The games that came with it are fun. However after seeing how much fun they were I got to where I wanted to try more. The Oculus just happened to have bundle game deals so I bough several games. I will say the Rift is also great for other apps. They just released rift 2.0 and it’s great. From the virtual desktop to watching movies to drawing in 3D. I will say I had to limit my time to get my senses used to VR. I am glad I finally stepped into VR!

Best VR Experience Available
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Earlier this year I purchased an HTC Vive....pain to setup, the Fresnel Lenses made it where only the center was in focus plus the Vive gave me horrible vertigo. Decided to try the Oculus Rift....EASY Setup....EASY Interface to work with. The head set fits well and is lightweight while still very sturdy. Field of view is VERY clear all the way around. Lots of free games that are really good. MUCH BETTER VR Experience! If you want to use a flight simulator, get FLYINSIDE FX plug in....makes flight sim very very life like.

The one to buy
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was wondering why this one is the most popular one, and after using it for a week, it makes sense. The setup, the applications, and the audio visual quality is amazing. You just need to make sure your system can handle the unit and sensors. 3 USB 3.0 and a CPU/GPU combo that can drive the visuals. Played Start Trek Bridge Crew and a Horror game and wow. It's so emersive!

The future is here..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I've had my eye on the oculus for a free years now. I was waiting for the price to come down, and I was able to pick one up for 350. The setup wasn't too bad. Once I downloaded and installed a few things to try... I was blown away, so cool. You really feel like you are inside the game. Worth the wait!

One of the Best Ways to Use VR
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Oculus rift has been out for awhile now. I managed to purchase this right before the Rift S and the Oculus Quest were announced. As a result I have to say, I'm glad I got it when I did. Info hear great things about the new Rift model, and not having sensors would be great. But overall my experience with the original consumer Rift has been awesome. I only have two sensors set up diagonally from one another. One sensor is higher than the other in my room. As a result I am able to get I'd say 98% perfect tracking. There are some hiccups here and there but that's a small price to pay for only using the two sensors out if the box. That being said setup was easy, I did use a USB extension cord for my one sensor for it to reach the other side of the room. But other than that it was plug and play after installing the Oculus software. As for the experience. I have tried the original HTC Vive, the Lenovo Windows Mixed Reality headset, and finally the Rift. Out of all the devices I do truly enjoy the rift the most. The Vive wands feel great and sturdy and was my entry to VR from a friend. However I didn't have the money at the time and went for the Lenovo WMR headset. It was great, it had both a trackpad and thumbstick. I could map the controls with steam as needed, and play the VR games I wanted. But the issue there was the tracking. The WMR headsets lose tracking when the controllers are too close to your face or away from the cameras. That brings me to the rift. This headset was on sale for $350 and I knew it was time to jump on it. And boy was I glad that I did. The headset felt super comfortable when I put it on, and the screen felt on par with the Vive. The touch controllers were amazing to my hands. They have their pros and cons when compared to the Vive wands, but that can be said for the Vive wands as well. Overall playing some fast games like Beat Saber, or Gorn. The controllers keep up greatly. Games like Pavlov and H3VR are super easy to use with the Oculus. If you're willing to do a little tinkering for setup and a little research on how to do it properly. Out of the box setup for 360 degree tracking should work with the two sensors no problem. I recommend a program from the Oculus store called "Sensor Bounds" it allows you to see where your sensors are located and where their field of view is. It is a super helpful tool for fine tuning your setup. Overall I'm really happy with my purchase, and maybe someday I'll pickup the Rift S. But as it stands, my original rift is just what I wanted and needed in VR b

Must Buy for Gamers
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely worth the cost. This headset takes you to a whole new world. The setup was easy and short. It was on sale at the time of purchase. The next day was even cheaper so I went back to the store for a price adjustment. Best Buy has the best Customer Service.

A great deal for the price!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought the Oculus Rift + Touch Virtual Reality Headset Bundle, and it was a great deal for the price. I looked into the HTC Vive, but it was $100 dollars more. You can't even get the HTC Vive at Best Buy anymore. I bought it because my friends and I are planning on doing some VR gaming. It was very easy to setup and the VR experience is amazing. The touch controllers are so much better than the larger controllers for the HTC Vive.

Greatest VR Headset on the Market
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am impress with the quality and the reality of playing with this headset. I bought both HTC Vive and Oculus Rift; and I admit that Oculus Rift would be the best as it offer more better title of games; and also it is the easiest to setup. For HTC Vive, I admit that it is the most difficult device to setup as I am considered myself as a tech expert. Therefore, I recommend Oculus Rift as it is cheaper, more games, and easier to setup.

Exceeded my expectations...
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Definitely would recommend this to anybody interested in VR. I have not tried any of the other options out there but nothing about this system makes me want to try them. It is comfortable and is not extremely difficult to set up. I already had a VR capable computer so it was hassle-free. For the money, and the options available as far as programs and games, I think the Oculus is the best bang for your buck.

Wow, so this is VR
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off I purchased this system when it was on sale for $399.00. Second I had no intention of purchasing a VR system, but the price was to good to miss. The setup is easy. Two sensors are not enought whill in environments that require movement. Best VR game so far, IMO, is "Echo One". If you are prone to vertigo ad I am it will take a week or so to get to decent play time. It's really hard to go back to a 2D computer environment after VR. Wow, try it now,

I absolutely love this thing.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. For those trying to choose between this and the HTC Vive, here is what I have learned from using the Oculus. There are a few games that are Vive only, but only a few. The Oculus is fairly easy to set up and can be set up to be played in a fairly large room. The biggest drawback I have found with the Oculus is that the sensors have to be in front of you, facing you, no more than 6 feet apart. For most situations this is not an issue unless you have to turn around, then the sensors loose tracking on the handsets. The biggest advantage over Vive? Half the price. P.S. There are a LOT of free games on both the Oculus store and Steam.

360deg Immersive Fun!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this for one purpose: automotive racing games (Project Cars2, Forza 7, AC, rFactor2). It is absolutely breathtaking. All VR products are in their infancy, but if this is early tech, sign me up for more! Pro - all above - setup and navigation are a breeze. Tutorials can help you understand movements. Con - chances are your existing 4gen and 6gen Intel processors won't do it. Chances are you old GTX 2xx-9xx will not give you a decent VR experience (if at all). Chance are you'll have to get to a minimum Intel i5 7xxx (or AMD equiv) and a Nvidia GTX 1050Ti or better.
