First time home security user overall it's decent

I am new to home camera systems as I've never had one before but recently with package delivery problems plus wanting to know who is at the front door when knocking before I answer along with some street facing security, I figured it was time to give it a try. This review is from the perspective of not only a RING newbie but someone new to home surveillance.
Arriving in a small, compact box inside you will find the Ring pan and tilt camera, a decently length power cord and a wall adapter. Also included is a snap on stabilizing mount and a wall mount with screws so basically you're good to go however you want to use/mount it. You get a few small pamphlets but really all setup is via a QC code.
I decided I wanted the "full" Amazon experience (since they own RING) and opted to update and use my Fire HD 10 tablet which is a ~3yr old 11th generation model as my primary monitoring device. Once updated, downloading the Ring app was easy and as soon as you create an account which is mandatory, you can set up your camera via the QC code which was the first problem as my Fire HD tab could not focus on the incredibly small QC code. I tried from many angles. I even took a picture of it and enlarged it with my phone to try and capture it that way to no avail. I ended up just having to manually punch in the number which in hindsight was much easier than scanning the code.
Once punched in, you make sure your Ring camera is near your router and setup is a breeze. It finds and links to it automatically with the tablet Bluetooth and will sync it to the network you're using. Be warned, these are only 2.4ghz devices and do not support 5.0ghz so make sure you're either using an older router or have dual band set up. Once synced and setup, you can adjust the various settings you want (home / away modes, live vs delayed feed, pan/tilt settings, etc...).
I set it up in its dedicated location and since it is wall powered, it can be left unattended. I really like the fact it uses a USB-C to USB-A cable and standard USB-A power adapter as this gives you plenty of flexibility not only in cable run length but if you want to power it off a USB hub.
Once I placed it where I needed it, I was able to immediately pull up my feed and see my front door, driveway and a bit more. The camera has a very wide angle.
The app is more than quick enough even on my 11th gen Fire HD tablet. I suspect it would be much quicker on an Apple or faster Android device but for my needs it works fine.
As always, nothing is perfect.
I do wish it was in color, but the 1080p picture was good enough.
I like that I can monitor it via the tablet and my PC. My main issue is there is no PC or Mac native program and everything has to be done via the Ring website which makes it a bit cumbersome and obtuse. If there is an app for mobile devices, there should be a stand alone application for PCs and Macs.
I'm not a huge fan of a lack of direct local streaming mode. Everything has to funnel through the cloud back to Ring and then to you. There needs to be a direct Wi-Fi/LAN only mode to conserve uplink bandwidth and more important localize your privacy options if all you want to do is monitor the cameras and that's it.
You do get a free month of Ring Protect that allows you to save and review videos along with other features but if you opt not to pay monthly, you only have real time/delayed video and it still has to be uploaded/streamed to Ring and then re-sent to your various devices (in my case, Fire HD and PC).
If the Ring camera was in color, had a native PC or Mac program and a way to select localized streaming only, this would be near perfect. Alas, it lacks these three things but overall I'm generally content with this first step into home security and most likely after my trial period is over I will just use it for real time streaming of my front door/area and that's it.

The Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam offers 1080 HD Video in color. It sounds like you are experiencing an issue with the video showing in black and white instead of color. Please ensure that you have the proper settings enabled on your mobile device, tablet, or PC for optimal video quality. You can also enable Color Night Vision under the Device Settings tab in the Ring app. Please follow these steps to enable Color Night Vision: Open the Ring app. Tap the menu (☰). Tap "Devices." Select the Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Cam that you want to adjust. Select "Device Settings." Select "Video Settings." Toggle on the switch for "Color Night Vision."

In my pursuit of a discreet yet effective indoor security solution, the Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Security Cam has proven to be a commendable choice. Its sleek black design integrates seamlessly into various interior aesthetics, offering both form and function.
The camera’s 360° horizontal pan and 169° vertical tilt capabilities provide comprehensive coverage, ensuring that no corner is left unmonitored. The 1080p HD video quality delivers clear and detailed footage, while the color night vision enhances visibility in low-light conditions .
The two-way talk feature facilitates real-time communication, adding an extra layer of interaction and security. Additionally, the customizable motion detection zones allow for tailored monitoring, reducing unnecessary alerts .
While certain advanced features, such as 24/7 recording and person detection, require a Ring Protect subscription, the core functionalities of the camera remain robust and reliable . The setup process was straightforward, and the integration with the Ring app offers intuitive control over the device.
In summary, the Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Security Cam delivers a balanced blend of design, functionality, and performance. It serves as a dependable component of a comprehensive home security system, providing peace of mind with its thoughtful features and user-friendly interface.

These are very easy to install. Just plug into an outlet (10 ft cord) and connect to the Ring app by scanning the device QR code. If you already have a Ring device, you just add a device in the app. It can be free standing or mounted. I suggest trying the device free standing until you decide on the best viewing angle. This is an indoor camera.
Ring offers Basic (one device), Plus and Pro plans which store data in the cloud for 180 days. Without a plan subscription you will only see live view events and won’t have a video recording.
NOTE: Ring says this connects to a 2.4GHz network but wit works fine on 5GHz for me.
In the Ring app you can adjust settings for this device. One of the settings is for colored night vision. It really doesn’t add much, if any, color. Ring needs to work on this feature. Clarity is great in light, but the night vision clarity is so-so.
Another setting is to capture people only and we also set that feature.
The motorized pan-tilt and 360-degree coverage is a great feature if it actually tracked. It reminds me of BB-8. It whirls around but doesn’t track a person.
We put our cam in the garage for now. The two-way radio with noise cancelling is handy. Sound quality is very good.
The cam also works with Alexa if you wish to setup that feature.
We have several Ring devices and they all do their job of watching our property. This device needs to track people and have better night vision. Then it would be truly great.

I absolutely love my Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Camera! The 360-degree coverage gives me complete peace of mind, and the video quality is fantastic, even in low light. The app is super easy to use, and I can quickly check in on my home from anywhere. The motion detection and two-way audio features are spot on, making it perfect for monitoring my space. Highly recommend!

I picked up the Ring Pan-Tilt Indoor Security Cam on sale, and it was a fantastic deal. Setup was super easy, and I love that I can move the camera around the house as needed. The 360° pan and tilt control gives full-room coverage, which is great for checking in on pets while I’m away. The video quality is clear, and the two-way talk feature works really well—being able to hear and speak through the camera adds a lot of value, especially if you already use other Ring devices. Overall, highly recommend this as a flexible, affordable addition to any Ring setup.

I have about 40 Ring cameras/products/models purchased over the years. I generally sacrifice picture quality for ease of use with Amazon/Ring Security/ and other IFTTT links. However, the picture quality of this product is far superior to any of Ring's previous efforts. The colors are more vivid and the viewable field is definitely larger when the camera is at rest. The pan and tilt is a game changer. I dont think the camera is 360, probably about 340, but that is being nitpicky!. The pan-tilt is a little sluggish from the app, but I believe that is just latency with Wifi. Otherwise, as a Ring person, I have been waiting for this product and it delivers.
The next product I have been anxiously awaiting is their announced indoor drone product. Looking forward to the functionality it will hopefully provide!

Over the past few years I've been through every iteration of home automation , video doorbells, and stick-up cameras.
I eventually landed on the Ring range, because of their variety of camera options - plug-in , hard-wired and battery means I can place a camera on demand pretty much anywhere I need one around the perimeter and interior of my property.
One primary need is to keep an eye on our dog while we are out of the house - of course I could cover every possible angle with multiple cameras in the main rooms, but its much more flexible (and cost effective) to have a single camera that you can move around remotely Enter the Ring pan and tilt camera.
One thing to state up front - this is not technically a new camera. It's the exact sane camera as the existing Ring plug-in indoor camera (the new one with the sliding privacy cover) , and the pan+tily feature comes from the mount. The mount is a plug-in only for obvious power reasons, and slots into the existing battery slot in the back of the camera. So if you have cameras that you want to move about, you might want to consider just getting the mount and upgrading your existing cameras.
Beyond the hardware, the camera functions 90% the same as every other Ring camera - you access it through the Ring app, and can configure a wide area of motion detection features, alerts, sensitivity settings as well as being able to review the event timeline.
*Key Point Here*. If you are new to Ring, please be aware that Ring does not offer a continuous 24x7 record option on ANY of their product. They are all motion / event driven, with a subsequent recording clip that you can adjust the duration up to 2 mins in length
When you power on the camera, it swivels around its full range of motion to make sure it's placed correctly and then lands back at its home-position. When accessing the camera through the app, you get the regular Ring camera live-view, but with some extra navigation options to pan the camera up/down/left right. This part works pretty well, and allows me to full scan the entire length of the house from a central point, and a single camera.
My only minor complaint is probably more about the software features than the camera itself - although you can manually pan the camera , there is no automation or 'sweep' - so if you want a different view you have to manually move it. Same for the zoom , if you want to change the view you have to move the camera to where you want and then pinch-zoom-the screen. Maybe this is just muscle memory because every articulated camera I have ever used has always been PTZ (Pan, Tilt, ZOOM) in the controls - so just be aware that the controls are PT and you have to Z with a different gesture / control.
All in all this camera does the job for me - I'd like some more options to do with simplifying the controls, or automating the view, and of course an option for 24x7 recording - but as it is its a welcome addition to my Ring setup, and does the job of multiple cameras in a single unit.

Had this wring camera for almost year now and I have not had any major issues, easy to install with clear directions to connect to it, if the internet went out it's easy for it to reconnect.

I love that I can pan and tilt the camera as needed. It works wonderful! We bought it so we can be sure our elderly mother is ok. However, it can only pan and tilt during a live recording and not a video so be sure you have the camera set up to the exact area where you want it. And if you adjust the camera manually, be sure to edit the zones if you set them up or they'll be off.

The Ring Pan-Tilt indoor security cam is amazing! Video quality is clear, crisp, and satisfactory for indoor monitoring at any time. It delivers smooth footage with great detail. We have the camera in the front of our house and it handles movement well, with minimal lag during live viewing. Must Have!!
