Good hardware, software still needs refinement
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great Fast response Quickly adjusts IR to prevent blowout Simple install Can describe events AI descriptions allow to search for specific events Loud microphone Very clear speech if there is not noise pollution No ghosting even when poorly lit Includes a wedge in the box Simple install Doorbell rings can now be like phone calls Doesn’t have the cooldown time between events like previous models Not so great Birds eye view not working Doorbell screw locations changed from previous generations Audio muffled with certain background noises Chime mini sounds distorted AI event description delays previews Announcements on Echo devices inconsistent Viewing angle reduced from 150 to 140 degrees Limited functionality without a subscription Fully dependent on internet No local storage or AI capability No Alexa Greetings capability Installation mounting position is different than previous generations The design is more rounded than previous generations. Ring has also redesigned the IR ring. Instead of a ring that appears to be a single light, the new version you can see distinct LED strips arrange to be somewhat circular. This latest doorbell no longer works with existing hardwired chimes. Instead, it includes a Chime Mini in the box. Consistent with their product lineup, the Wired Doorbell Plus has no local storage and AI processing is done via the cloud. Functionality is limited without a paid subscription. While it can answer with certain predefined responses, Alexa Greetings capability is limited to the Pro doorbell Installation 7/10 Installation is easy if you are mechanically inclined. It is very similar to previous generations of Ring doorbells. Strangely, like the past 3 Ring doorbells our family has had the mounting screw locations have been moved again. After years of owning ring doorbells our brick now has multiple holes drilled in it. It would be nice if Ring standardized the mounting holes between doorbell design changes. The most significant difference is when you install the Chime Mini you bypass your existing doorbell chime. It has double sided tape so you can stick it inside your existing chime to take its place. It sounds horrible and distorted but does offer one benefit. The doorbell no longer uses just phantom power from your chime which creates limitations in performance. Instead, the doorbell gets full power at all times. Video 8/10 The latest version of the doorbell does have some better specs, but some have been downgraded. The resolution has been increased to 2K but the viewing angle has been reduced from 150 in previous generations to 140 degrees. It is not very noticeable but it is unusual to see a previous version having better specifications. Video quality has been improved where faces are sharper. There are signs of compression but Ring has done a respectable job minimizing the effects. With it fully hardwired it means preroll is full quality and the entire video is clear with no ghosting. No more viewing blurry or pixelated preroll. However, dynamic range seems to have decreased. Faces during the daytime are often dark and not very clear even if there is a modest amount of daylight in the area. Night vision is the opposite. Ring really seems to have improved IR exposure. Faces typically blown out by IR up close are not an issue. Even if their face starts out overexposed the camera quickly adjusts. Audio 7/10 The speaker on the doorbell is certainly loud enough. In fact, on full volume your neighbors across the street could easily hear talking. However, understanding is a whole different story. When listening through the app and there is any noise such as traffic, speech sounds blown out. It is like the microphone sensitivity is turned up too high. However, during normal sounds of nature it does a much better job of picking up speech clearly. In fact, during this scenario the audio quality is possibly the best Ring has ever done and conversations feel more natural. Performance 8/10 With the fully hardwired setup, response time is greatly improved. No more waiting for the camera to wake from low power mode. Events are quickly announced on any Amazon Echos you have around your house. However, every once in a while, it seemed to stop announcing and showing events. After the doorbell had been installed for a few days it seems to have improved. With updates being automatic it could be that this improved after an overnight update. What will slow things down consistently is turning on AI recognition. When the AI recognition is turned on there is a long delay from when an event happens and when it shows up on the timeline for viewing. App Notifications and Answering 5/10 It seems like Ring is trying out some new features that haven’t been fully optimized yet. Notifications are usually pretty fast to Echo devices in the house and only delayed by a second or two, but the app is less consistent. Initially it seemed to be due to a new feature where you can receive a call when someone rings the doorbell. When our family tried to use it the phone and app would ring and when you answered it would just spin. We turned that feature off thinking it would help, but currently the phone only rings half of the time when someone presses the button. This is when using the latest app on an iPhone 17 Pro Max with the app set to allow critical alerts. Two different phones had the same experience. When the app did notify of a doorbell press, answering was much quicker than previous Ring doorbells. Final Thoughts The Wired Doorbell Plus is a solid product from a hardware perspective disregarding the Chime Mini. However, the software feels like Ring needs time to optimize. For those of you who have had Ring products in the past, this should not be a surprise. If their track record continues, this doorbell will likely improve over time and maybe add a new feature or two. For those unsure, you may want to wait a little bit for Ring to iron things out a bit. For those familiar with the way Ring handles new products and are confident the software will continue to improve, this new fully hardwired version eliminates the compromises of the previous generations.

Lots of improvements and high rez 2K video
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We’ve been using Ring products for several years now, including Ring video doorbells, several outdoor cameras, some with solar panels, and a wired floodlight. All were purchased from Best Buy and all have been 100% reliable. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus in this review is a second-generation product, with overall improvements not only in resolution, but also in several aspects related to video quality…hence the 2K Retinal in the name. Given the opportunity to upgrade, I chose this to replace my Ring Doorbell Pro, whose video recording was full HD as opposed to the higher 2K resolution of the Plus. I immediately noticed improved sharpness, clarity and color, even in low light and backlit situations. Ring has also made improvements in subject recognition with help from AI. I haven’t had a chance to see those kinds of improvements, but even the older version seemed to do a good job, noticing things like packages left at the door, etc. I see Ring now offers a 3rd generation 4K doorbell, but 2K seems more than adequate when viewing on a smartphone or tablet. In my case, installation basically involved replacing the older doorbell. As is often the case these days, detailed installation instructions required scanning a QR code with my smartphone. The first thing I noticed when removing everything from the box was the doorbell’s physical size…it’s noticeably larger than the Pro, not that it really matters much. I used the corner mount to angle the camera slightly, and it did require drilling one new tiny screw hole as they didn’t line up exactly with the old mount. Otherwise, everything went as expected, simply swapping out the wires from old unit to the new one anchoring it with a single screw to the wall plate, and reattaching the cover by snapping it on. Ring has changed how the cover attaches. Instead of using a torx head screw as in their earlier models, the new one uses a recessed plastic clip, which to me seems a little less secure. A little tool to poke the clip open to remove the cover is included, but it seems a simple small flat blade screwdriver could probably accomplish the same thing. At least now I don’t have to worry about losing the orange screwdriver that came with the older units. Adding the device in the Ring app was quick and easy. The other aspect of installation (which should be done first) has to do with the existing mechanical doorbell chime in your house, usually near the entry somewhere. The Wired Doorbell Plus will not work with these chimes, so it will require a little effort to completely disconnect the two wires attached to the chime and connecting them together with an included wire nut. Since I already had a previous Ring doorbell, I needed to remove a small power adapter device from the earlier installation. Ring does include a “Chime Kit Mini” which can be attached to those same two wires instead, and I did go ahead and do this. However, I personally found it to be a little harsh sounding and loud (I couldn’t figure out how to control the volume) and with smartphones and Amazon Alexa devices throughout the house, I didn’t really need to install it in the first place. At least it’s included if you need it. If necessary, I would recommend spending a little more and purchasing the separate Ring Chime or Chime Pro. They are quite affordable and highly configurable. I ended up disconnecting the mini chime. Ring requires a free smartphone app (excellent 4.7 star-rating) to use the doorbell’s video capabilities, but a paid subscription is necessary (and recommended) to access many of its desirable features like video storage, subject recognition, and various alert options. With several Ring devices in our home, we went with the Standard Ring Plan, and I find it works well and is worth the additional expense. I am quite satisfied with the new Ring Doorbell Plus and highly recommend it for anyone looking for a high quality and reliable video doorbell.

Adequate Video with Faster Response times
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had Ring Doorbells through multiple generations and this one responds faster at a higher resolution so it was a worthwhile upgrade. The app is mostly intuitive and easy to manage especially if you just want the basics. Ring has added several new options including Ai interpretation of the motion but all that comes at an additional cost and subscription. The integration with Alexa allows us to check the door using our Echo Show without having to open the door. The video quality is a slight improvement over my older camera but its still not clear enough to recognize facial features at night or if the individual is moving quickly. It is good enough however to see if it’s a delivery person carrying a package or if someone is on the porch fairly close to the camera. Overall I think the 2k video quality is adequate, it’s the app and the features available that make this Ring Doorbell a better option than most out there today. Pros: - Established brand and mature app - Much faster response time than older Ring Doorbell - Lots of options in the Ring App for customization - Remote Chime devices available – I have one on each floor of the house - Easy linked with Alexa for notifications and video display Cons: - Physical install can be problematic – see below - Customization options can get overwhelming - Subscription cost can be expensive - Fairly large for a video doorbell - Included Chime Kit mini has poor sound at best Setup: Once I had the unit installed it was quickly recognized by the Ring app and after adding my wireless network it was ready to use. I personally like the Ring dashboard but there are so many options it takes some time to work your way through all of them to make sure you have exactly what you want. The app supports Modes (Disarmed, Home, Away), GeoFencing and Alexa Routines. You have to link your Amazon account with the Ring App to get the Alexa Routines but once you do notifications and video can be sent to your Alexa devices. Now the kids use the Alexa show to see who is at the door without having to open it. The app has quick control buttons for Alerts, Motion detection and Motion alerts which is really nice when you want to shut down the notifications when they aren’t needed. Installation: I had an older Ring doorbell pro already installed so my installation should have been fairly easy but it wasn’t. The Ring app does a good job of walking you through each step of the installation in detail. It recognized that I already had a Ring doorbell installed and showed me how to deinstall the first one prior to installing the new one. My issue was that my doorbell wire had very little slack so I had to solder on the two wire extensions included with the new doorbell. This is something most people might not be able to do. Secondly, my surface mount is flat and the mounting bracket is nearly flush with the surface which doesn’t leave you any room to hide/store any excess wire. Connecting the actual doorbell to the mounting bracket was a pain because I had to keep tucking the excess wire under the doorbell while trying to tighten down the security screw. To resolve this I had to put small spacers/washers under the mounting bracket to give me enough room to store the wires without crimping them. If Ring would have used Wago style connectors instead of screws or included a slightly thicker bracket this would have been much easier.

Original Pro to 2K Plus: A Significant and Smooth
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Technology evolves quickly, even though the doorbell category moves a bit more slowly. I upgraded from the first-gen Ring Wired Doorbell Pro (5 years older) to the new Wired Doorbell Plus (2K). The main feature I felt I was missing was the full head-to-toe, square-format video. This model delivers that, along with double the resolution and several new improvements. After installing it, I say the upgrade is absolutely worth it. Yes, Ring also offers a 4K wired Pro model, but I think 2K is the ideal middle ground: noticeably clearer without generating massive uploads. (with Xfinity removing data caps in my area, that’s no longer a concern but may still be for many folks) I had my older Pro mounted with a corner kit, and I was able to reuse the same screw holes with the new kit that came with this doorbell. The corner kit has multiple mounting slots and using the top and bottom ones aligned perfectly. The rest of the installation was simple since I use the Ring plug-in adapter. Note that the adapter isn’t compatible with the included mini chime; but I don’t use chimes anyway since my Echo devices handle that. One important detail from the instructions: your old mechanical chime will NOT work with this model, most likely because of the higher power requirements; the same applies to the newer Pro versions. My original Ring plug-in adapter worked fine, though the doorbell recommends 30A output while the adapter is rated for 20A. I am guessing the additional amps will be required if a chime is also part of the circuit. Physically, this model is noticeably larger than the original Pro. Maybe I’ll get used to it, but the old Pro definitely looked sleeker and more premium on the door. This one stick out more and feels a bit bulky. Hopefully future versions slim down again. One upgrade over my older doorbell is the inclusion of 5GHz Wi-Fi, which has been available on newer models for a while. My notifications used to be delayed, so I eventually disabled them, but now they arrive within a couple of seconds; complete with descriptive, AI-generated text. It finally feels like a true next-generation experience. (AI alerts also started rolling out to my older doorbell recently, even though it’s five years old.) Video clarity is significantly better: brighter image, sharper resolution, noticeably improved contrast and focus, and a much wider dynamic range. The full head-to-toe view lets me see the entire front door area, and the wide-angle lens has minimal fisheye distortion. Low-light and night performance are also dramatically improved. Overall, kudos to Ring for designing an upgrade that integrates smoothly with installation hardware from a device five years older. Even though this isn’t a “Pro” model, it easily outperforms the original Pro. I can’t speak for the most recent generation that already offers 2K and 5GHz, but if you’re upgrading from a model that lacks those features, the difference is substantial—and absolutely worth the price.

This is security
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently had a bad experience with a different doorbell camera and now that I have had this one, I feel even more justified in the review I left for the other one. Since I have had various brands of doorbells over the years, this one has truly impressed me. So, let me get the few things I don’t like out of the way and then I’ll get into everything I enjoyed. One thing I don’t like about some security cameras is being forced into a subscription to be able to record video. Though, this one is like that, you can buy the Ring Alarm Pro base station and record to Micro-SD. However, many features still require a subscription. The other thing I did not like is the plastic angle piece for installation feels very flimsy. I feel like it could easily be ripped off my door frame. The main bracket is metal, but due to the position of my door, the angle is needed, so it now has the plastic behind it. Now, out of all the doorbell cameras I have had, this is the first one that did not need some external power source for the chime. I never did understand why I needed to provide an external USB charger for some of them, or have a whole device of its own plugged in. This one just connects right up to the wires inside my old box and is stuck to the wall. Just like the 2 wires used to connect the camera on the outside. Detection on this thing has been immaculate. I turned motion detection on to see if there is anything I might miss. Apparently I have various animals now visiting my front door. I don’t know if they have been doing that before and I just never caught it on camera or what. Because the viewing angle on this thing is huge, as I can see my whole door, or now that the door bell replies “You are being recorded” when it detects motion and the animals think someone is talking to them. Either way, I find it interesting that I can see so much at the same time and it detects it all. This includes package detection as I get recording of it being delivered and when I removed it. One thing I like about wired cameras is being able to record early and often. Some wired doorbell cameras still only recorded the moment they detected motion. This one seems to be recording all the time but only saving seconds before the motion/person/package are detected so you can see everything up to the actual event. When there isn’t anything detected, you get a snapshot every 1 minute, so you can see a timelapse of the day. When viewing live, I was surprised there was no record or snapshot feature. Come to find out, it records it automatically when you go live, so you can go back through it with other moments and grab what you need from there. Ring is also known for their neighborhood features. Like their own social posts for others to share incidents around your neighborhood, but they also have a built-in search party option that can help find lost pets and “Amazon Sidewalk” that allows other devices to share the network connection through your device. Personally, I find that a bit invasive and have disabled them myself, but they claim they are secure and it does help the community with trackers and such. Of course Ring is by Amazon, so you can easily connect this to your Amazon account and have it ring on other Alexa devices. If you have other Ring cameras, it can even send notifications through the cameras, in case you are out back when the doorbell is pressed for instance. You can also view your devices through their website and enable notifications with your browser, so they even show up on your computer. I could go on about every single little thing I like about this camera over the ones I had previously, but I feel I have rambled enough. Overall, this Ring wired doorbell camera has a huge field of view, crystal clear image, amazing detection and a load of other features. With the simple install and not needing an additional power source, it already impressed me before I really started using it.

The Guardian at Your Doorstep
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Home security has come a long way, and the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus 2nd Gen shows just how far. If you’ve been looking for a smarter, more reliable way to keep an eye on your home, this little device makes a strong case. It blends everyday convenience with advanced security features in a way that feels both practical and efficient. First Impressions Unboxing the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus, you immediately notice the thought that went into its design. Everything you need is right there in the box — even a clever angled wedge to help you get the perfect view. Better yet, installation is refreshingly simple. Most people will have it up and running in under 15 minutes, no toolbox heroics required. Easy Setup, No Battery Hassles Because it’s wired, you don’t have to worry about charging or swapping batteries. Just remember to flip off the power before you start - safety first. Once installed, the included chime makes sure you’ll hear visitors no matter where you are in the house, even if you’re wearing headphones. It’s a small touch, but one that makes everyday use feel effortless. Crystal-Clear Views, Day or Night This is where the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus really glows. Its Retinal 2K resolution delivers sharp, detailed video that makes faces and packages easy to see. Night vision is equally impressive, giving you peace of mind around the clock. And then there’s the 3D Motion Detection. Instead of bombarding you with alerts every time a car drives by, you can fine-tune the sensitivity so you only get notified when it really matters. It’s smart enough to learn and adapt, cutting down on false alarms while keeping you in the loop. Everyday Use The companion app ties everything together. It’s clean, intuitive, and makes it easy to check live footage, talk to visitors, or adjust settings from anywhere. Whether you’re at work, traveling, or just upstairs, you’re always connected. The build quality also inspires confidence. It feels sturdy and ready to handle whatever the weather throws at it — from blazing summers to icy winters. Style Notes If there’s one small quibble, it’s the finish. Depending on your door hardware, the color might not blend perfectly. It’s not a dealbreaker, but worth noting if you’re particular about aesthetics. Final Thoughts The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus 2nd Gen is more than just a gadget — it’s peace of mind in a sleek package. With easy installation, smart motion detection, crisp video, and a user-friendly app, it’s a solid investment for anyone serious about home security. It doesn’t just watch your doorstep. It helps you feel at home, knowing you’re protected. Recommended!

Everything you need!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have unboxed and installed this doorbell and have been loving it thus far for a few key reasons. The companion app and the install process. Smart or video doorbells have come a long was over the years and this model follows that trend. The hardware seems to be pretty straight forward but the install process was where I had typically got hung up. No in this case. Everything from the mount to the hardware all seems to be great quality material. Meaning, no cheap screws or mounting brackets to worry or mess with. The only small issue is that some chimes may not work with this model. So please keep that in mind before unboxing. From an app and performance standpoint, this doorbell can also stand its ground. The app has all of the zones and features you could imagine. You can set hot zones and schedules, the app picks up if a person is in frame vs something else. It literally has everything you need for a video doorbell. The lens has gotten foggy but easily wipes and cleans up. The frame of view is also excellent with nearly 180 degrees of visions (140 actually). The clarity is also better than what I had seen in past video doorbells of competitor brands. All in all, if you are looking for a solid (and easy to set up) smart doorbell then this should be a go-to for you. Its companion app is very intuitive and user friendly all while delivering quality video and sound!

Excellent clarity, existing chime doesn’t work
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had a Ring doorbell for probably well over five years now and it is has stood the test of time. I’m in Ohio where the winters can be pretty brutal and the snow falls can reach anywhere from 2-8 inches on a given night. I am replacing my Video Doorbell Pro with Ring’s new retina 2k device. If you’re replacing an existing device, make sure you measure the location. This misstep caused a delay in installing my doorbell. My doorbell is mounted just to the left of my storm door and with the new device being slightly wider, it wouldn’t fit and allow my door to close. That began my search for finding a way to mount it in the existing location, either with an extension mount or fabricating something to work. Ring doesn’t offer anything at the moment, probably because the device is pretty new, but I did find something online that I ordered but won’t be here for at least a week. In order to install this, I had some vinyl pieces from my deck laying in my shed and I cut them and drilled holes to make a temporary solution. It’s not my favorite setup, but it is temporary so I can live with it for now. Installation couldn’t be easier. They advise that you shut off the power to the doorbell when removing and installing the devices. You can mount the new bracket in the center where the wires come out of the door trim and attach the doorbell to that. Depending on which doorbell you had previously, you may not be able to use those same screw holes. Ring does sell a retrofit adapter that will allow you to use your existing holes. After installation, setup is completed in the Ring app and there you can choose your storage plan or if you have existing cameras in your account, you can simply add this doorbell. The quality of the device is very nice. It’s well made, has a decent weight to it and the new style is curved as opposed to the previous more boxy models. The picture quality is excellent, both day and at night. I seldom speak through the camera because if I wanted to talk to the person on the other end, I would just go open the door. Otherwise, I would rather they think that no one is home. My only complaints are really about how confusing the naming conventions are with their devices and the fact that I can no longer use my chime pro plug in doorbell with this new doorbell. I have it in my basement which is where I work because I can’t hear the chime on the main floor. I guess I will have to figure out how to use the Echo Dots to act as chimes. I also which they had different mounts for complex installations, but there is some limited third party options for that. Overall, great product and I hope I can get as many years out of this one as I did my last.

Upgraded from Gen 1 RingDoorbell
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring Wired Doorbell (2nd Gen) is probably my third or fourth Ring Doorbell camera. We currently have three floodlight cameras, one indoor camera and the doorbell camera. We also use two other brands at our other homes. I prefer the Ring brand over those other two brands for several reasons. This camera was an upgrade for us and I can notice some differences right away. The first thing I want to point out is that they moved the holes for the screws - so it did make it for a more difficult install than it should have been. I wish they would have kept the same configuration as previous versions. But other than that - installation was very easy to connect to our homes exisitng doorbell wiring. Some of the enhancements to the 2nd generation doorbell include Retinal 2K. The video is definitly more crisp than the previous version. I can't wait for a lizard or frog to crawl up near the camera (lol). The camera has 3D motion detection and Low-Light Sight which improves the picture at night or in low light situations. Ring does require a subscription to be able to link with your other devices, download and share videos. We had a bit of trouble getting the new camera visable on my husbands account after installation. I called Ring and was pleasantly surprised at the customer service received to make sure we were able to get the cameras up on my husbands phone. This is a good company that makes good products.

Nice upgrade
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from the 1st gen ring doorbell camera, this is a great upgrade. I have a ton of ring products and they never disappoint. The 1st gen was HD and this one is 2k resolution, and you can clearly tell the difference immediately. One downside was I had to add an external bell, it wouldn't wire to my doorbell like my old one did. But it came with the digital bell and was simple to install. I attached a picture to show how I installed it. We are remodeling our home so I think I will relocate it to behind a piece of furniture or something, and remove the old bell altogether. This seems to be the future anyway. Install was simple, holes for the new bracket didn't line up of course. Drilled out a new hole and bam, was done in a couple minutes. Set up in the app was simple, scan the QR code on the paper that came with your device and it opens up your account and knows which product it's installing, install the required update and set up to your liking. This camera is much clearer than my old one and has a greater wide angle lense so I didn't need to install the angled bracket. So far I'm happy, even though they now have 4k, I'll stick with the 2k, it's plenty clear enough.

Some Puzzling Design Choices
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been wanting to upgrade my existing Ring doorbell for a while. The old one had held up well over the years but I had noticed that newer models had some features that I liked so I was excited to upgrade. I had mixed results after doing so, however. Pros: - The in-app instructions were very helpful for set-up and they walk you through each step very carefully. It was easy to hook up to my Wi-Fi and get the doorbell up and running. - The video quality and field of vision is MUCH better with this new 2K model. I can see a decent portion of my welcome mat directly below and I also love how clear the image is in the dark. The night vision is excellent. - This model is very good at letting you know when it has identified a human within its range. I have neighborhood cats that frequent my porch and this Ring can tell the difference. Cons: - The installation mount, for some reason, was designed with screw openings that do not match my existing Ring mount. You would think that a new model Ring doorbell would not force you to drill brand new holes (and risk the integrity of your wood/brick) in order to mount your new doorbell. I thought this was a very poor design choice and I hope that they factor in this concern with future designs. - While my older Ring model functioned perfectly in partnership with my indoor chime, this new model is not compatible with it. While they include an alternative in the package that is fairly easy to connect to your indoor chime, it is very quiet and just sounds cheap. I'm not sure why they removed compatibility with indoor chimes, but I liked my traditional indoor ringing sound and am sad to see it go. While I love the overall functionality of the doorbell itself and the well-designed app, I regret my decision to upgrade to this model because of the drawbacks listed above.

Great Upgrade!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. We recently replaced our old, traditional doorbell with the Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) in silver — and honestly, it’s been such a worthwhile upgrade. My husband handled the installation (he’s pretty handy), and I couldn’t be happier with how it’s working out day to day. First off, the video quality is really sharp. The 2K resolution makes a huge difference — I can clearly see who’s at the door, even in lower light, which gives me real peace of mind when I’m home by myself. The low-light vision is impressive; even when it’s a bit cloudy or during dusk, I still get a clean image. One of my favorite things is the 3D motion detection. It doesn’t just ping me for everything that moves — I get more accurate alerts when someone actually approaches the door. That means fewer false notifications, which is a big win since I’m home a lot during the day and don’t want to be constantly distracted. Since I’m usually in the house, I love being able to screen whoever’s there before I get to the door. The live view is fast, and I can talk to people through the Ring app. Whether it’s a delivery person, a neighbor, or just someone dropping by, I don’t have to rush to open the door blindly. We also appreciate that because it’s wired, I don’t have to worry about recharging a battery. It’s more “set it and forget it,” which is exactly what we were hoping for. In short, if you’re looking to modernize your front door, this Ring Wired Doorbell Plus is a smart, reliable choice. It’s given me a lot more confidence and control, and I feel way safer knowing who’s at the door. Highly recommended.

Wired Doorbell with great picture!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) with Retinal 2K picture is a great new doorbell. This is my first video doorbell, so I did not have any previous models to compare to. I am truly impressed by the quality and all the features that come with the doorbell and Ring App, and I now wonder why I waited so long to get one! I got the wired doorbell, so I could use it to replace the old standard doorbell at my house and not have to worry about batteries. I think the wired version is much more convenient, after its been installed. Following are some features and my observations of this model: - Retinal 2K video - the picture is great! Much better than videos I've seen that people often post online from their doorbells. I get good color and a full view of my entryway and front yard. I normally keep my front lights on all night, so haven't had any problems seeing at night either. I tried it with the lights off and I still could see well. - I love the fact I can finally talk to and hear someone who is at the front door. I can finally talk to delivery people if I'm not home. - It is a DIY installation using the existing doorbell wiring. Now, I will say, it was a little more involved than I was expecting, but I am totally not a handy, do-it-yourself guy, so if I can do it, I think anyone can. You download the Ring App and scan a QR code and it really does walk you through every step you need to take, so if you can follow directions, you can get it done. I've just never dealt with wiring before, so I'm sure it took me longer than most. I'd say altogether it took me around an hour to install the doorbell and chime, and another half hour or so to play around with and figure out the App settings, so I spent about 1.5 hours getting everything working the way I wanted. If you were already set up with a Ring App or you are upgrading from an older model, I'm sure it would be much faster. - You get everything you need in the box to set it up, including a universal mounting plate, installation hardware, user manual, push pin, and plastic corner kit. The corner kit came in handy for me, as my doorbell is on the side of my door, so this gives a better video angle of my entryway. The Ring doorbell fit just fine over my old doorbell opening and was easy to attach to the door frame. - There is a small Chime unit that comes with the doorbell. This unit gets hard-wired to your old inside doorbell chime. I was a little surprised by this, as I thought once I hard-wired the doorbell, it would use my old chime. However, your old chimes no longer operate with the Ring Doorbell and you wire this new chime unit to the old one. Once wired up, it works just fine. - I was able to set it all up and connect it to the Ring App on my phone, but it also gives you an easy option to invite your spouse or others in the home to share the same doorbell on their phone apps also. - One of the great features in the App is you can set up the zone in which you want to get alerts of motion in the zone. On the live view, I can see my front yard and sidewalk and street. However, I don't want alerts of people walking on the sidewalks or cars driving by. You can customize the alert zone by dragging it in the picture so that it is inside the front yard and does not give you a motion alert for anyone on the street or sidewalk. So you can truly see just when someone is approaching or on your front yard. You can also choose to be alerted only by people, or if you want alerts for other motion in your yard. - There are countless other settings and features you can choose from that are built within the App, allowing you to customize alerts and sounds and types of motion and providing Smart responses, plus lots of other general settings. You can really set it up for what works best for you. Seems like they have thought of about everything. I'm excited to finally have a Ring Doorbell. If you have an old hard-wired doorbell on your home, this Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) model is a great choice to replace it and provide you with clear video doorbell features.

Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) Camera
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. So I just snagged this new Ring Wired Doorbell Plus camera a few days ago and has since installed in at the front door to my condo. We recently installed another Ring camera on the front door, so this is merely an upgrade. After having tried some of the other top leading brand names for video doorbell cameras and the like, we decided months ago to go with Ring, and I'm so happy we did. After using the other Ring camera for several months and absolutely loving it, we were stoked to be able to get the chance to test out this new Ring Wired Doorbell Plus camera. Unboxing Includes: * Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) * Chime Kit Mini * Corner Mount * Installation Toolkit * Window Decal Sticker * User Documentation To get started, you will need to download the Ring app from the App Store for iOS or Google Play Store for Android devices. Next you will need to create an account and follow along with the instructions. But the most important thing you will need to do is make sure your find the line that your front doorbell runs off of at the main breaker box and shut that line down. Unfortunately for me when I first installed other video doorbell cameras, I had to run up and down the stairs to figure out which line my front doorbell was on. Now I know its on my basement line, so after I disconnected that main power line, I started with my installation process. One thing I love about Ring is the installation process is so simple. If you just follow along with the app, you will have your doorbell camera setup in no time. Once I got everything installed and turned the power back on, I waited for the camera to properly boot up and got it connected to the home network. Now once it was added to my account I wanted to remove the old Ring camera from my account. This is where I think Ring needs to revamp their connection and disconnection. If and when you sign up for one of their accounts (which you need in order to save history), they need to make it easier for customers who are simply upgrading their cameras to remove a camera and add a new one. Simply adding a new camera to your account makes it to where you will be paying another $4.99 or more for each additional camera to your account. Instead it should be if you want to continue with he same subscription you have, you should be able to simply remove the old camera from your account and add the new camera to your account without having to discontinued the old subscription and start a new one. This is the one area i believe they need to fix and focus on and make it more user friendly for those of us that are simply just upgrading from older cameras to the newer ones. Aside from that, this doorbell camera has some amazing features, such as 3D Motion Detection, Retinal Vision 2K, Low Light Sight and more. 2 way audio works amazing, you can clearly hear those on the other side of your door no matter whether you're home or away from your home. That lets would-be intruders know that you are watching them. As far as video is concerned, I love the quality of the 2k as well as the field of view. Our older Ring camera video was crisp and clear and this new doorbell camera just took that to a whole 'nother level. All in all we're happy with our new Ring Wired Doorbell Plus (2nd Gen) camera and think you will enjoy it as well. Just another level peace of mind knowing your home is guarded no matter if you're home or not.

Can't go wrong with the Ring ecosystem!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am not new to Ring products, but I am new to Ring doorbell cameras, and after trying other brands, I decided to just go with Ring because I have heard good things and, realistically, they are the brand that pioneered doorbell cameras. From the beginning, everything was clear and simple, with instructions both online and in the box. My home was built in 1995, so the chime is old, but I was able to bypass the static sound by following the instructions. I installed the new bell near the old one, and my house is about 2000sqft, and I don’t have any trouble hearing the doorbell no matter where I am. Probably my favorite part about this doorbell camera is that it is wired, so I do not have to worry about the battery or missing a moment that should have been captured. My other Ring cameras are wireless, and I have to charge them occasionally after some time. The hard wire installation was also pretty straightforward and almost like plug and play. If you follow the instructions and practice patience, you will be able to do it with no problem. I am not sure why some people pay to get these installed. I did it in under 30 minutes, and I would not consider myself a handyman around the house. Video quality is great during the day. It is a little harder at night, but still very usable. All in all, I highly recommend this to anyone already in the Ring ecosystem, but even if you are not, you really cannot go wrong with a Ring doorbell compared with other brands. My only suggestion for the future would be to make the design a bit more modern. This model looks like the other Ring doorbell cameras I have seen from the beginning, so offering a few different color options might be nice for personal preference.

Another outstanding Ring product!e
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm planning a move into a new house that has one of those "other" brands of video doorbells and I've always been a fan of Ring products. I have their alarm system, sensors, cameras, and appreciate how easy it is to set up and use their products. The Ring Doorbell Plus is yet another example of their current product lineup. My previous doorbell was wireless but the new home provided the ability to hard-wire so this one was the way to go. Installation is simple - attach the mounting plate to the wall, scan the QR code to add the doorbell to your app, attach 2 wires, and click the doorbell into place. It connects easily to the app and wireless network and can be set up on either 2.4 or 5ghz. I was a little confused as to why the box included a mini chime kit, or why I needed one, but after a little online research I found that some ring doorbells don't work with mechanical chimes. This takes care of that issue by mounting the mini chime kit inside your existing chime housing, bypassing the mechanical chime, and using the Ring Chime instead....Genius! The Chime kit also helps optimize power delivery to your Ring doorbell. As anticipated, the second generation Ring Plus provides great video. It offers retinal 2k which provides great resolution, including low-light sight which provides color images in low-light conditions. It also uses 3D motion detection to provide accurate alerts which can be tailored to your view by mapping out those specific areas. The wired rind doorbell also works with Alexa Echo to provide a view of your front door! My doorbell came with the standard silver faceplate but additional faceplates are available and swapping them out is easy! Another great Ring product!

Affordable Doorbell with good video.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The unboxing was very easy and they included all the hardware in labeled pouches. The provided quick start guide started with me downloading the new Ring Aware app. Then I was prompted to create an account. Simple process. Then I scanned the QR code of the doorbell and it prompted me through the setup. It started with the type of wiring to the transformer needed. Then I connected the provided door chime. Finally, I installed the angled wall plate. Then the Doorbell connected. The final screw that locks the doorbell to the plate required some force when screwing to get it to tighten properly. Also, the angled bracket sits lower than the doorbell so doesn’t look as clean on the front of my house as the previous doorbell I had. Once powered on I was able to go in and set up the sensitivity to when it records and what it alerts me on. You are provided with vehicles, person, package and other. This allows me to get what notifications I want. Also, it allows you to enable AI to get a single clip. The doorbell placement does show more of my house than my previous doorbell but that is how it installs and the viewing angle of the camera. The quality is really good during the day and at night. I like it when you want to look at the clips they are user friendly, and you can download and share them easily. Also adding the family was simple. Finally, what makes this a really good option is the $60 year option which is affordable compared to others on the market.
