-Feature: This is one of those movies where you find yourself glued to the screen not wanting to miss a second & never pay attention to the time asking yourself “when will this be over.” It’s a keepsake & worth buying to watch over again! One of the best Biopic titles out there. Pros: -Picture; Dolby Vision never disappoints. -Slipcover; No but it was a steelcase. -Digital Copy; Yes, full version w/ Atmos & Vision. Dented Steelbook. Everything else was okay other than a big dent in the corner of my Steelbook copy I ordered for Store Pickup. A little upset that they grabbed a dented copy off the shelf.

Truly AMAZING film, befitting of the one and only, Elton John. Taron Egerton’s performance was fantastic.

This bio-pic of rock 'n roll icon Elton John is this year's "Bohemian Rhapsody." The Freddie Mercury story made a small fortune at the box office and walked away with a handful of Oscars, including one for Rami Malek as Best Actor. Maybe lightning will strike twice because "Rocketman" deserves the same respect. In fact, in terms of production numbers and pacing, it is better than "Rhapsody," which suffered from a sluggish middle act before delivering the goods in its rousing finale. "The Kingsman" star Taron Egerton seems an unlikely choice for the role of Sir Elton, but he plays the part so convincingly you quickly forget that this is the kid who set the movie world on fire spoofing James Bond. The soundtrack covers most of Elton's greatest hits, presented in zippy bits of staging that approximate the thrill of John in concert. If you've never seen the man live because you can't afford the steep ticket prices, pick up this film for a fraction of the cost and turn the lights down and volume up. It's two hours of rock 'n roll bliss.

I absolutely love this film. Using Elton's music as the soundtrack to his life story is brilliant!!! I cannot say enough about this movie. From the opening scene, in his Bob Mackie outfit to the closing credits, this is a cinematic wonder. Impressively beautiful. Visually it is spectacular. As vibrant and alive as Elton himself is. Taron Egerton and Jamie Bell have a transcendent chemistry. They show the true love and friendship the two men have for one another, co-writing music together for over 50 years, writing some of the most beloved songs of all time. The entire cast was amazing. Bryce Dallas Howard as Elton's cold and distant mother. Richard Madden as John Reid, Elton's cruel lover/manager. Gemma Jones as his supportive, loving grandmother. All of them did such a great job with their characters. Although I have owned the discs for such a short time, I have watched the film half a dozen times already, and that number will continue to increase over time. This is a must see movie.

Beautifully shot, extremely well acted and yet somehow the music takes a back seat IMHO. There are some chill bump moments of Elton and Bernie's first collaborations but, while I was told this was more like a musical it really isn't. I appreciate the departure from Bohemian Rhapsody but, in the end both suffer from spending too much time in the fallow years (they just aren't that interesting musically or story wise) and not enough in the alchemic launching pad days which is where the excitement and pathos really is. Yes Elton lost himself but, all we really see are sketches. All that said, it's a ride worth taking but, just be prepared for a lot of melancholia. Picture is A- in 4K maybe just slightly flat but, still with good detail. Sound is tight and compact, at good levels between all the going back and forth between music and dialog.

Some of our friends are put off by musicals and fantasies. If so avoid this film. However if you like your characters breaking out in dance and music for no apparent reason while floating above the ground this movie is for you. Expectation were high after Bohemian Rhapsody and this does not reach that emotional connection. But it has many wonderful moments. The depiction of the young Elton John is excellent. I hope they do a sequel since he accomplished as much in music and deeds in the second half of his story.

Actor Taron Egerton pulls it off! He walks into the Thespian's Den of portraying a Giant like Daniel -- sticks his head into the LION's mouth and emerges as a LION KING to nail this ambitious project that brings us a raw look at the iconic ELTON JOHN! Thru the songs he's given us, we'll see the birth & origin of a child prodigy; how he got his "stage name," what drives him & how Reggie Dwight went from backup musician to the stratosphere of greatness that only the LEGENDS CAN ACHIEVE! This is not an actor's imitation! It's a musical filled with drama. Egerton shows us; "THE Bit<H IS BACK!"

A semi biographical film about Elton John. I say semi biographical because there are some fantasy elements involved. This film has an outstanding cast headed by Aaron Egerton, Jamie Bell, and Bryce Dallas Howard - and many others Dexter Fletcher directed this film from a script by Lee Hall. I won't go into a dedicated scene-by-scene breakdown, but I will say that there are some memorable music scenes that make this film a genuine musical! A must watch!

If you're a fan of Elton John's music, you gotta see this. This is another Black Friday sale that I bought someplace else thinking I got it for a steal until I looked at Best Buy prices. I returned what I bought from the other store and bought this one. Lesson learned: wait for Best Buy's Black Friday blu-ray sales b4 buying someplace else. Chances are, they'll have the item you're looking (newer movies) for and it will be on sale.

I don't usually like this type of movie, but Taron Egerton does a tremendous job duplicating Elton John's wild and adventurous life and career. Taron scarily looks a lot like Elton and had his mannerisms down to a T. His voice was also good for most songs. There is a short sex scene, but it's not as scandalous as I've heard it made out to be, and certainly not as bad as some of the other movies out there showing other sex scenes.

First, this steelbook looks nice and is a worthy addition to a collection. Second, the movie was good but not quite what I wanted or expected. Be prepared for a musical, with scenes linking performances of songs from Elton John's greatest hits. It is not a straightforward music biopic like Bohemian Rhapsody, Walk the Line, Ray, etc., though it does offer a similar chronological narrative. If planning to watch with kids, be aware it has a lot of focus on Elton's drug and alcohol problems. There's some sexual content as well.

It was solid entertainment with some of Elton John's best tunes and terrific performances. It's not my favorite movie of the year, but it's good enough at what it does that I wouldn't dissuade anyone from watching it. Especially if you're an Elton fan - you'll want to check this out. Paramount Pictures delivers Rocketman to 4K UHD Blu-ray with a great Dolby Vision presentation and a solid Atmos mix. Toss in some worthwhile bonus features and you have yourself a disc worth adding to the collection. Recommended.

I was not expecting it to be a musical format but the dance routines were spectacular. Impressed with the acting and also that the music was recorded and produced by George Martins son(The Beatles producer). Also loved the extras. Loved that Elton John was open to the slightly different arrangements the songs had. Enjoyable and entertaining. I don’t give 5 stars very often.

Absolutely fabulous movie! Loved the music and the honestly that Elton John uses to tell his story. If your an Elton John fan it is a must see film, if not I'm not sure how you couldn't be after seeing it. I could feel the pain that he felt at different times in his life and it brought tears to my eyes. I also could feel the triumph that he felt by the end of the movie.

If you love Elton John and Moulan Rouge then you will definitely love this movie. While the story of his life is not always easy to watch there are plenty of fun musical numbers throughout that keep it going strong! It's an interesting and very entertaining look at Elton John's life and this collection of it looks great, sounds great with some nice extras on the blu ray!
