It Won't Connect...Both units

Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this unit, but can't seem to connect to my pc with USB 3.1. Does it have to be 3.0? I returned the first one as it didn't work either. It doesn't show up in Windows Explorer, but when disconnecting the USB, there is a reference to "SABRENT" without the drive letter. For sure, it doesn't even show up when connected to USB 2.0. I'm running Windows 10 with intel i7. I believe this is a pnp, so there is nothing to it as far as setup goes. The drive I inserted is a brand new WD Red 4TB 3.5" both times. The first time, I also returned the drive, since I didn't know which one was "bad." It also showed up in Task Manager, but again, without the drive letter. I disconnected another 4TB external drive that was connected, but it didn't make a difference.

Simple but ineffective

Item shipped with outdated firmware which prevents it from working with drives over 3TB. After updating it worked with one of my drives but not the other. After digging around others have had similar issues and even had it stop working months after no issues.

Best Buy Tech help not needed.

Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.this item was not the item needed. i needed the item for (IEC) (?) ten year old hard drive plug- ins. the geek squad ddid not help. i did find an item to plug in my old hard drive on line; in fact it hands both old and new hard drives. That's one problem that i solved myself and there were three others . so... i cancelled my subscription ($199 fee) to the geek squad tech help since i could do it myself without help. it just takes a mountain of time.
