I’m very happy with my new 50” Samsung TV. Has a great picture and good sound - I bought it because it came with an attractive pedestal stand, not those George Jetson antenna style legs. Set up was a breeze with The Geek Squad! Thanks Best Buy!

If you are buying this 50 inch Q80A for VRR ie 4k 120hz for your new Xbox X or PS5 buyer beware. Even through its advertised on Samsungs website as having VRR 120hz it does not. I found out the hard way after puchaaing here on the website. According to the Samsung rep that haunts the Best Buy website the 55 inch models do but not this one. Sad for me that I am stuck with this TV that does less than model that I attended to replace it with. Thats a Vizio that has 60fps , HDR10 and Dolby for gaming which this one does not. I bought this one for the supposed VRR 120hz which in my attached screenshot I show it being advertised as such on Samsungs website. Sad that my research before buying was futile. Just be cautious buyer, of your buying for why I did you wont be happy.

Going from my not-so-smart TV to the Q80A boosted my TV viewing time tenfold. It came with the stand that I needed (avoiding having to hang the TV from a wall that I didn't have available). It also comes with numerous Samsung channels (at no charge). After getting over the fright from the newer remote-control style, I found toggling to different viewing options quite easy and much faster than the gymnastics previously needed to get to my desired TV platforms.

I got this to replace an older Samsung from about seven years ago and the picture is even better (not surprising given time and tech advances). I had some issues setting it up (got stuck at step three after I signed in to my Samsung account) and I'm not sure I need to be able to control my TV with my phone? I get that if I lose the remote I'm screwed as there are no physical controls on the TV like they used to have. I do wish I could connect some 'legacy' inputs (there's only HDMI and coax for an antenna input) but I also get that time marches on and there are adapters to be able to connect my laserdisc player to the new TV. I installed this in my living room, which does get a fair amount of ambient light through windows and the picture is vibrant enough I can watch shows that a re pretty dark and still have definition. Yes - there a cheaper sets on the market (I paid ~$800 or so?) but I do feel that compared to the lower priced models out there the picture quality is noticeably better.

The TV has a grate picture and was easy to set up! The remote control is not that user friendly, maybe I need another STEM degree to figure it out! For example I can only change my volume via the smart things app or with the 50s sound bar manual!

Excellent tv. Picture is great. People sometimes give the operating system a hard time but I think it has been really great and easy to use. Speakers are decent, a lot better sounding than an older Samsung that we have, but eventually we will get a soundbar. The only thing that wasn’t good was Alexa. Just could not get it to work right, but maybe that is the operator.

Set up was a breeze. No problems so far with quality or connectivity. Color and brightness settings are lackluster. The built in speakers are standard quality and super loud.

      hngdmn,

Thank you for sharing your thoughts on the picture quality of your new Q80A QLED TV. If the picture you are seeing out-of-the-box is not to your liking, there are several picture settings you may want to try adjusting.

You can select the Picture Mode that provides the best viewing experience. Go to Home > Settings > Picture > Picture Mode
      1) Standard: Is the default mode suitable for general viewing environments.
      2) Natural: Reduces eye strain for a comfortable viewing experience.
      3) Movie: Is suitable for watching TV or movies in a dark room.
      4) Dynamic: Makes the picture brighter and clearer in bright viewing environments.
      5) Filmmaker Mode: You can watch the source content (e.g., movie) as it is. If the image is defined as Filmmaker Mode, it will automatically switch to Filmmaker Mode while watching.

You can also go to: Settings > Picture > Expert Settings > to manually fine tune your image.

Intelligent Mode also enables the TV to recognize and analyze the surroundings, noise, content, and your usage patterns to provide the best viewing experience. You can enable Intelligent Mode by going to Home > Settings > General > Intelligent Mode Settings. Adaptive Picture, which is among the options, optimizes brightness and provides the best picture quality in real time, based on the lighting condition and the content you're viewing.

For further assistance with settings adjustments, please contact Samsung Customer Support at 1-800-SAMSUNG (ask for TVs), available 8AM - 12AM EST, 7 days a week.

3-8-22-Bought this tv during black friday looing for a 50” w. VRR. and motion Xcellerator, * like other gamer reviews* you will have to go w. 55” to get VRR and Free Sync motion xcellerator w. XBOX SERIES X and PS5, I was lucky to go back and sales team xchanged and upgraded to 55” to get what i wanted, even though in Samsung site and tech support say 50” has Motion Xcelletator , it does NOT, othe than that it is still a Very clean , smooth tv . But the 55 “ does have wifi issues so hopefully Samsung fixes with a FW update.

This TV is great! Clear, sharp, lovely! Superb. Glad I made the upgrade to a 50" 4K. After a few tweeks to the settings I couldn't be happier. The viewing from an angle isn't the greatest however, it suits my needs.

This tv was just as expected in clarity & performance after less than 30 days of usage since delivery & install on Nov 23rd. The original scheduled date was cancelled; and it took over 8 calls & 10 hours of my time on the phone with receptive agents that tried to be helpful; but could NOT complete a reschedule and did NOT return any calls although promising to do so ..... very frustrating after paying for 'Total Tech' to make this happen. It was finally resolved by my visit to the purchasing store and I connected with the right individual that after his efforts of 20 minutes on the phone did get a New schedule date; and that was completed to my satisfaction. What an ordeal for 4 days.... all the while being told it was NOT a tv availability issue. Bottomline is that I am now happy with the product.... and have a paid for 2 year warranty, at my cost. The ability of Best Buy call centers that tried to help me was certainly lacking in how they were able to access re-scheduling and give me confidence on when & if my tv was going to be installed. The tech that made the delivery & install was 'wonderful' ..... Thank you !!!!!

We are happy with the new Samsung QLED Model#QN50Q80AAFXZA model. Our previous Smart TV was also a Samsung and we were happy to purchase another at Best Buy. The higher resolutions and clarity of colors is sharp. It is a 50" TV and upgrade from the 42" we had for the area in the living room. We had good service from the staff and answered our questions.

An excellent tv, but setup is not easy. I would recommend downloading & reading the manual from Samsung before initial setup. Best viewing is directly in front of the tv, as you get to side viewing angles it gets less contrast. Initial setup requires an internet connection to setup a Samsung account. If you’re streaming tv be sure to adjust your app quality settings so you don’t go over your isp data allowance.
