Great timing with the sale right now. Easy to install, 4TBs of storage, and very fast. I've used 980 Pros for a couple of years, but the 1TB was getting low on space. This 4TB drive is perfect for my needs as I video edit and create motion graphics. I love it!

“I’m currently using the Samsung SSD, and it’s been a game-changer in simplifying my workflow. The fast read and write speeds make file transfers quick and efficient, which is a huge time-saver for tasks like backing up data or working with large files. It’s compact, durable, and easy to use, whether I’m connecting it to my laptop or desktop. With reliable performance and plenty of storage space, it’s made my life so much easier and is ideal for anyone looking for a dependable, high-speed storage solution.”

This drive is fast in benchmarking and some types of file transfers, but if you expect a boost in general things, you might be in for a disappointment.
Buy this drive if you want one of the fastest drives (right now), but do it with the expectation of... Diminishing returns.
Pros:
4TB lots of storage
Was on sale.
Cons:
Didn't feel any quicker than my 3rd gen NVME, felt like it was a waste of money.
Other thoughts:
Am waiting for reasonably priced 8TB NVME drives, under $500.00

The Samsung 990 PRO 4TB is the ultimate drive for enthusiasts who refuse to compromise. It combines class-leading speed, a massive capacity, and top-tier build quality into a single, no-excuses package.
if you are building a high-end gaming PC, a powerful workstation for video editing/3D rendering, and you demand the absolute fastest load times and data transfer speeds available on the PCIe 4.0 standard. For everyone else, a more affordable drive will be a much better value.

Needed a fast and large storage to run well with a 4090, 14900k, and 128g ddr5 ram at 7800ms and this competes with speed, performance, write and download all in one. 100% would recommend even for lower end builds

This one seems to run pretty cool and has ultra high performance. Some programs load nearly instantly. I recently transferred some large media files across from one nvme drive to another, and walked away, came back, and everything was already done, so I'm definitely a fan of this format.

Quite impressive just how large 4th of storage can be.. im using a smaller boot drive to keep windows separate and this 4tb version of Samsungs flagship 990 Pro to store games and all my Cad files on. Impressive data transfer between this and my Nas made me truly appreciate the speed of this nvme setup. Price per gig this made the most sense to me. Seams steep in cost until you factor youd need 4 1 tb to match its capacity and would easily be $100 more. This was the best match between performance, quality, and price

This thing is incredibly fast, I used it as a memory upgrade for my gaming laptop and my system recognized it right away. Getting around 7800Mbps read/write speeds during full load. Its pricey but has proven to be worth it. I'd highly recommend getting Samsung Magician as it monitors the health of the SSD and provides driver updates, its not just wasted space.

Overall a good buy.
I've used many generations of Samsung NVME and they haven't really ever let me down.
I have some issues with their warranty disclaimer that the cards can't be used in adapter cards or an external Thunderbolt chassis or in a Mac Pro (TIP: enable trim or warranty service is out of the question). If the card was used in the aforementioned configurations you'll have to test the card on a machine with an NVME slot on the motherboard before they will honor the warranty.
Otherwise they've been reliable and as always blazing fast.

I needed to expand the storage on my Zephyrus G14. I had read that there were minimal real-world performance gains upgrading SSD to SSD, so I was planning to purchase a more mid-level 4 TB drove. I bought the 990 Pro when it went on sale and was pleasantly surprised. There is a small but noticeable bump in booting and in loading times. The Samsung management software is easy to use and robust. The drive itself is solid and looks well built. Only tiny concern I have is it runs a little hotter than the 512GB WD Black that shipped with the laptop. (It’s not a problem sitting on my desk).

I have two of these, and they are blistering fast, even though they are not Gen 5.
Interesting story: I got two of these and installed them in a new system for W11, without even looking at them carefully. When I got to the BIOS I noticed that they were 2TB instead of 4TB, and one of them was a 980 insteaed of a 990.
The boxes were correct, though of course the serial numbers on the box and the boards did not match up. I had not noticed it when I first opened them.
I was fearful that the Best Buy on the West side of Madison, WI might not be able honor a return, but they did, without any major hassle. The return did, understandably, require a manager's approval.
They fortunately did have 2 others in stock, which I opened before leaving the store to make sure that things matched up properly, which they did.

I think I own three of these at this point, basically just always go for this M.2 when building new PC’s and always works great and just as intended. Haven’t had any die yet. Also I don’t think any M.2 is ever going to be noticeably different than any others, buy whatever you like, they’ll all perform roughly the same. I have made so many reviews and never won the dang $400 gift card, is it fake, a myth, a nonexistent goal like me losing 20 pounds??? wish me luck!
