Bought this drive to replace an older HDD in a 5 year old Dell. Drive is in perfect condition with only 4 power ons and 2 hours of use. Windows 8.1 installed in less than 15 from a USB drive. Easy set up and blazing fast. Brought new life to my 5 year old machine.

I bought this to save a few bucks off of a New in Box SSD. The SSD arrived at my home earlier than the original stated time. The SSD did not arrive in original manufacturers box nor with any paperwork. I believe the original manufacturer's 5 year warranty is still in place but not totally sure on this. The SSD was safely packed and in excellent like new condition. My goal was to upgrade one of my existing Samsung 850 250GB drives to a newer Samsung 860 500GB SSD. I was expecting this to be very easy as I had installed two 850s in two computers previously without incident. I found this not to be the case for this upgrade as Samsung's Data Migration software was displaying an error code. This left me wondering if the problem with either the new 860 SSD or the Samsung Data Migration software. After some troubleshooting I determined the problem to be Samsung's Data Migration software. It appears this migration software can be "finicky". You can be lucky and it will work great or its totally useless giving you a useless error code & no clues as to why the data migration process is failing. Nothing. Zero. PDF instructions and one line help are of no value. After some troubleshooting I determined I needed to purchase new cloning software to clone my existing SSD to the new 860 SSD. This was not Best Buy's fault as I would have had to do this even if I bought a New in Box product. I purchased the lifetime update version of the AOMEI BackUpper software. The AOMEI software allowed me to properly clone my existing drive to my new 860 drive without incident. I installed my new 860 drive and bingo, the beast booted up first time just fine and has been working fine for a few days. I scanned the new drive using the Samsung Magician Diagnostic Scan and it passed with flying colors. FYI, you'll get about a 10% improvement in performance. Samsung makes great SSDs along with their related Samsung Magician software (yes, Rapid Mode does gives you a boost) but....their Data Migration Software is not up to the same standard of quality. Be prepared that you "might" need to buy cloning software in addition to the Geek Squad Certified Refurbished SSD. Other than this glitch, I'm a happy customer. Hopefully I have provided some helpful feedback for some upgraders out there.

Good product. The speed is normal, with 30 hours use and 715GB write. The warranty on Samsung website is May 31, 2025.

Samsung certified refurbished SSD is not restore to original manufacturer's specification. CrystalDiskMark speed is half of the new SSD speed. You pay 10% discounted price for 50% speed reduction. Not happy at all.

Over the last few months I have purchased three of these 500gb refurbished SSD's from Best Buy to upgrade several computers. All drives were well packed and arrived on schedule, and all are working perfectly. Since the Samsungs are among the highest rated SSD's, the refurbished approach gives you a more economical way to upgrade to SSD, which provides a noticeable improvement of performance for older computers. Most recently, I have upgraded my old dual core HP DC5700 desktop which still has a meaningful role in the array of computers. I also upgraded a 10 year old Samsung NC10 netbook which is now a full time, 15 hour per day, living room slideshow computer. Transitions between slides are smoother now with a refurbished 860 EVO 500gb drive installed. Cloning the drives with the Samsung migration software did not work for me when cloning an 860 EVO SSD for a laptop, as it did not result in a bootable drive. I therefore have used the free version of MiniTool Partition Wizard for cloning, installed in each of the computers to be upgraded, with the SSD connected via USB. This cloning utility also preserved the EasyBCD settings, as the DC5700 is a dual boot computer. Just make sure that you uncheck any bloatware before installing MiniTool Partition Wizard. After cloning, you can create an extra partition before installing the SSD. Also remember to turn off automatic defragmentation, as SSD's do not require this, and is reportedly counterproductive. While you can certainly purchase a new Samsung EVO 860, there seem to be no problems with purchasing one of these refurbished SSD's. I can therefore highly recommend these refurbished Samsung EVO 860 SSD's from Best Buy.

Love this hard drive. Super fast ans easy install. Rejuvenated the laptop and kept me from buying a new one. And they sent a 1TB instead of 500GB, so double win.

This drive just works. FWIW I always use vertically integrated suppliers. That means that one supplier makes the flash, controller and software. I've never had a problem with Samsung or other manufacturer's products. I now stay away from 3rd party integrators. In my experience flash drives fail catastrophically , that is , they completely fail without warning. I got somewhat of a better price by going refurbished and it is working fine. The drive that I received was completely blank and you would have to run a format program like diskmgmt.msc for Windows or diskutility for Mac to use the drive.

I found myself running short on storage drives for various projects and purchased a few of these to install in my daughter's laptop and my laptop. I always go with Samsung for SSD storage and the 860 EVO is nearly as good as it gets for 2.5" SATA operations. These are so fast, I usually install these instead of NVMe in laptops to minimize heat and for most day to day use, the difference is negligible outside of users stuck on benchmarks or deep sequential rw. I used to have a 970 Evo Plus in my laptop, but the perceptive speed gains were intangible, these were much more inexpensive and I didn't develop a hot spot on my keyboard after heavy use. I paid ~$52.99/ea and I'm very pleased with Best Buy's service and delivery of the drives.

The Samsung Magician app shows that this refurbished SSD has around 688GB written already, which is honestly not bad at all. After doing multiple benchmarks, the speed is as advertised and there's no error or loss in writing files. Highly recommend it for the price.

Just received my and install the SSD with clean Windows 10 Installation. As soon as i ran the Samsung Magician program, it told me it only has been written for .8 TBW and warranty is for 5 years or 300 TBW, which ever comes first. Great Value for price, just beware it's just SSD, no cables, no softwares or anything. FYI, SATA SSD only can go max 600 mbs. If you want anything faster, NVME SSD or M.2 can go faster up to 3200 mbs.

The absolute best ssd on the market! All of my high end computers have one installed, and they are lightning fast! Boot time and audio recording were intended for this type of drive! I love it!

This seems like a great deal for a 500GB Samsung 860 EVO for about $60.00. Once I checked it in the Samsung Magician software, it appears that the drive was powered on for 4 hours or so and had roughly 600GB of data written to it. I registered it with Samsung and the warranty shows good until November 20th of 2023. Time will tell if this is really a good deal. So far, it is very speedy and no issues other than I could not get it to initialize in the OS on a mechanical drive under drive management. I used a free partition software to create a partition and it showed right up with no issues. Then I installed the latest version of my OS (1809) on this SSD and have been up and running since. Very pleased with my purchase.

Got this for a new build of a gaming machine, and the install was as simple as possible. Performance was fantastic, best value ever -- couldn't be happier.

Was worried about Certified Refurbished that maybe it wouldn't work or have issues. So I bought a 2 year warranty. To be honest, I doubt I'll need it. This SSD is BLAZING FAST!! Compared to the fastest hard drive, this is many times faster. Windows loads into desktop in less than 20 seconds (with all apps ready to go) compared to just under 2mins on Hard drive for desktop and apps/files to fully load. Fast, reliable and at the price of cheaper, slower 250GBs SSD's.

I've upgraded my laptop from a sluggish 5,400rpm hard drive to this. The benefits are substantial: a 1 min. boot now takes 10 sec.; a full restart that usually took 1:30 is now achieved in 15 sec.! Launching apps are snappy and the palm rest doesn't heat up as it used to. Aside from the tiny cooling fan that makes a subtle hum, it runs quieter too. I highly recommend this product.

I bought two of these Samsung Refurbished Drives to upgrade both my desktop and laptop computers. The drives are worth all the money spent buying them. On my desktop computer the boot time increased to about 30 seconds from a boot time of 3 minutes. On my laptop, the boot time went from 4 minutes to 30 seconds. Also, the overall performance of each computer dramatically improved. This is the technology you have been waiting for. These Samsung SSD Drives can make your computer faster than when it was new.

Inserted this into a relatively old Windows laptop; installation was super straightforward and the Samsung Software (mentioned in the instruction manual) did a great job cloning my previous drive. Laptop is immediately 10x faster. I'm sure the drive is limited by the SATA connection, but for folks like me without the PCI connection this is the best we can get and it's a worthwhile upgrade.

This was my first SSD and I decided to pay extra for a trusted name. I feel it was worth it just for Samsung's migration software, which made the whole process of copying my old drive to the SSD a breeze. I was amazed at how much faster my old laptop was with the new drive. Windows loaded in 1/4th the time and Photoshop loads and runs much faster. I'm going to buy another one of these for my wife's laptop.

I have installed several other SSDs in my family laptops and desktops but they were cheaper in price and quality. These were not that much more considering that it's a top tier product with reduced price because it was refurbished. Checked its status with Samsung Magician software and it shows that it was barely used! I noticed the performance increase when replacing my other SSDs (DRAM-less). Will buying these instead from now on.

I have bought these multiple times and never had a problem yet. I think these are just returns/open box items that are scrubbed clean of any data. Not warranteed like new, but 1/2 the price when on a daily deal. I will be buying more as needed. Supports Samsung free utilities to upgrade to SSD. Highly recommended. Makes an old laptop or desktop run much faster.
