It is a great OLED monitor, it is also a smart monitor so you can use it for just youtube or some other apps without having to turn on your computer. The response time/ refresh rate is great as well with 120HZ being the refresh and I cannot speak to the response times all that much as I do not have the proper equipment to fully test that. A couple games that I have played more recently use the full advertised refresh rate of 175HZ, however do not buy this monitor based on the advertised refresh rate. Now getting to downsides the main one that I put in the title is the resolution of the display, it is a nice 3440x1440, which is not inherently bad but on a monitor this large I wish it was 4k instead. The brightness is phenomenal, I have the monitor set to somewhere around 60% brightness and it is plenty bright for me. Overall a great monitor with a couple downsides if you find it on sale definitely buy it.

Loved the monitor because of the OLED and high PPI giving it a great picture while gaming, however the color fringing was quite noticeable while working on things like word or reading twitter feeds. One thing I wish they would update to this model is make it 240hz like the 49” G9 OLED. Also I have no clue why they thought mini HDMI and mini display port was a good idea…

The Samsung Odyssey OLED G8 is a remarkable blend of style and substance, aimed primarily at gamers and multimedia enthusiasts. With its 34-inch Ultra-Wide OLED WQHD display, this monitor offers an immersive experience, particularly in gaming and media consumption. The curved design adds to the immersion, making it feel like you’re at the center of the action. Performance-wise, it excels with a refresh rate of 175 Hz and Adaptive-Sync technology, ensuring smooth gameplay even in the most intense scenarios. HDR support and a wide color gamut contribute to vibrant and lifelike visuals, a key aspect that gamers and content creators will appreciate. The build quality is another high point. The sleek, athletic design is backed by a solid metal rear panel, giving it a durable and luxurious feel. This is not just a monitor; it’s a statement piece for any setup. On the practical side, it’s loaded with features that cater to various needs. Whether you’re using it for gaming, office work, or content creation, the Odyssey OLED G8 provides a high level of performance and quality. Price-wise, at around $1,089, it’s an investment. However, for those seeking top-notch color and contrast in their gaming or creative endeavors, it’s a worthy choice. ⬤

This monitor has been great. I love the picture quality and Samsung privides advanced options to adjust the picture to my liking. This is my first ultra wide, I thought it would be too big for gaming, but its actually just right. For productivity tasks I prefer working on the ultrawide instead of my old dual monitor setup, it has a smaller footprint and requires fewer cables going to my pc. For the price an HDMI should have been included, but it was easy enough to pick one up on Amazon.

There are plenty of 5 star raving reviews of the monitor here and I am not going to repeat them hear. I do like to emphasize when turning on the HDR, the color is gets much brighter and crisp!!! I have tried the Dell AW 34 inch oled, even the 4k 34 inch Gigabyte and Asus 34 inch 4k with thier HDR turned on, the color gets washed out and I have to turned off the HDR making it uselessly. This is the only monitor when turning on the HDR., the color actually comes to astonishing clarity

I’ve been having such an amazing time gaming on this monitor! I love the deep and vibrant colors and the way it enhances the visual experience all at an incredibly smooth 175 hz. It has built in speakers that are better than most monitor speakers out there. It has a nice glossy finish that does a decent job at not reflecting too much light causing glares. Beautiful aesthetic without being too gamerish in my opinion. It’s definitely worth the price when it goes on sale, but DO NOT PAY FULL PRICE FOR THIS!! 1,200$ is much too steep for this monitor, but it does go down to 900$ during sales, so watch for that!

The monitor itself is great. However, in retrospect I would not have bought it if I knew more about it. First, it has a mini DVI port and a mini HDMI port. To make it work with my MAC, I had to buy adapter cables and it only worked well with MINI-HDMI to USB-C. Second and most importantly is that it comes with "features" to stream video services that I don't want. Okay, I can ignore that but to do so, it also has a remote control. That's a huge problem because I have a Samsung TV on the wall above the monitor.l The TV remote wants to turn off or change features on the computer monitor and the monitor remote wants to turn off or change settings on the TV and it can't be controlled. Only way to fix that is get another TV from a different manufacturer such as Sony, etc. Why does the monitor want to be so darned "smart". I would have preferred that my computer put the monitor to sleep when appropriate and just have a simple power button to turn the monitor on and off. If I had it to do over, I would have bought the 34" Alienware monitor. I've always trusted Samsung electronic products but they burned me on this one.

Really happy so far with this display. My PC games have never looked so vibrant and detailed, and the immersion offered by ultrawide is superb. I can never go back to an IPS or VA panel after being spoiled by the black levels and color accuracy of OLED. Purchased over the Alienware DWF due to the aesthetics and minimal depth, which frees up more desk space. The Alienware does have a much better warranty against burn-in, so time will tell what happens with this monitor. One minor gripe is that I have a Samsung TV located in the same room that this monitor and the remote to the TV or monitor inevitably turns the other device on or off. There is seemingly no way to re-program either remote, so beware if you have another Samsung TV nearby.

Honestly one of the better screens I’ve ever had. I actually came from a 4K monitor and I’m glad I transitioned into 2K Oled. This is probably the best screen I’ve ever had. Honestly it makes everything better. I will say tho, it’s not made for movies or shows. Although it’s not a big deal for me, because it still looks great, if you’re looking for a monitor for watching this isn’t it. Although I also have a Samsung 4K tv so I can’t be mad. WOULD BUY AGAIN

Could this be the best 34 QD-Oled monitor?

If you are looking into getting the G8 Oled, you probably by now may know a couple of complaints. 1) Having mini hdmi and dp connections. 2) not including a mini hdmi, and having a hard time finding that has good quality specs and longer than 3feet was a challenge. 3) dealing with random monitor going to sleep with DP connection. So if you are like me, and knew already what to expect. You to have to ask yourself, is it worth the headache? If you have an Nvidia card. Then Yes. If you can wait a little and find on sale like i did for 1k. Then Yes. If you are debating between the AW DWF34 and the G8 Oled and is thinking of going with the G8 Oled. DO IT! While very similar, the G8 Oled is a bit brighter specially after tweaking settings. Samsung has release resent firmware which has helped overall. At the 1k price range the best 34 QD-Oled considering some of the initial drawbacks, I believe is the G8 Oled. Hope this helps.

Overall this monitor is great if you can get it on sale. The panel itself has amazing color accuracy and is just about what you would expect from an OLED screen. It would be hard for me to go back to a different panel that is not OLED. The only issues I have with it are similar to what others have reported. If your PC goes to sleep and you are using a displayport cable, the monitor will not wake back up. Samsung has been aware of this issue for over a year and state they will fix it with firmware updates, but have yet to make good on this. The other issue seems to be with the recent batch of monitors. There are reports of coil whine on some recent units and mine so happened to be one of those. It has been two weeks and my unit has started to show the slightest signs of coil whine. We'll see if this continues to get worse or not. For now it is bearable but I can't say the experience will be the same with other units. Just something to keep in mind. This monitor is great at a discounted price if you can look past mini connections, bad smart tv software, sleep issues, and coil whine. I wouldn't be able to justify spending full price on this monitor. If these are things that would bug you as a consumer then I suggest looking into a different monitor.

The picture quality is what you’d expect of if a high end OLED monitor. Not a QD-OLED so there is still risk of burn in for static images, but I’m risking it because of how good the picture quality is. I work on a laptop and then swap to my own personal laptop after so I’m using the USB-C inputs, and it would have easily been a 5 star rating if there was hub support, so I could actually plug in multiple usb input devices in the back at USB 3 speeds, rather than the USB 2 speeds it currently maxes out at, as a hacky workaround.

Stellar display! The individual OLEDs tun off and on providing for true deep blacks for that near infinite contrast ratio. Its so true.... once you go OLED, you just cant go back. The display is both Freesync and GSync compatible, can run at 165hz for buttery smooth gaming. I love that it has built in speakers and the Samsung tizen app has some surprisingly good stuff, including Disney Plus , netflix and Amazon prime. Even Geforce Now works directly from the monitor which is great. Only things you should be aware of: first, i did not buy this monitor for static office work or using splitscreen. Burn-in is a real concern for me. Im only using it for media and videogames. Second, you need to purchase your own micro HDMI cable if using HDMI 2.1, which is a little annoying. Other than that, great monitor, one of the best. Better than the Alienware, as its really the same panel but looks so much nicer, with Samsung apps and speakers included.

Amazing Monitor !!!. I also own the Samsung Odysee G9 49inch Neo 4k as well, and I can honestly say that as far as picture quality goes I think that the G8 has a slightly better display. Another feature That i love about the G8 is the fact that it can also be used as a smart TV. And my favorite feature is because I am on the Samsung ecosystem I can with the click of a button cast any of my devices to the monitor wirelessly. Build quality is amazing, and if you want to game in 4k you can totally do that with a 175hz refresh rate which I also love about this monitor. I'm telling if you have the money to spend this is the monitor that you really need to consider pulling the trigger on. and yes it has freesynce and all the bells and whisles that you would want out of a high end gaming monitor.

Monitor is great. Color is a little on the warm side or I probably got used to cool monitors/TVs in the past. Color settings are hard to adjust/calibrate (I'm no expert and just use Spyderpro and Displaycal). Micro HDMi has EARC and works great if you have an Atmos Soundbar (PC cannot set Atmos in sound settings since it does not recognize the monitor as Atmos capable). Dolby Digital+ and CEC/ARC control work great/perfectly. Wish it had a USB hub and standard inputs (it has micro hdmi and mini DP). More Inputs would be great too. Tizen software was a little buggy and laggy. It was fixed after a firmware update though. HDR is bright but don't expect it to be as bright as IPS/VA panels. Everything works and the design is very simple but has great quality.

So I bought this opened box excellent for half off, paid for the geek squad replacement coverage just in case with getting an open box so out the door i was around $700 for a nice Oled UW montitor. I am okay with that as this thing is big, beautiful and wide. OL girl is a BBW fho sho. The RGB is pointless and not really bright in the back but the screen is gorgeous. If i get burn in or coil whine I will update accordingly but so far its great. I do wish it had a regular HDMI and display port sizes instead of a mini, not really sure what the point of that is when the screen is massive compared to anything made in the past twenty years minus the relatively new 49,57, and 55 inchers.

It’s a great monitor. The big thing I like is the instant response times. I came down to the 175 refresh from 240 and it seems fast because of the response times. Something to note is there are more pixels on this monitor so even though the refresh is lower it won’t run as high on some graphics cards (I have 4090 and 13900k) than a 16/9 with the same settings. The 21/9 is more to push. Therefore with the better response times it balances out with my setup. I recommend if you can get it on sale.
