My viewpoint on Chromebooks have changed

I live in a Microsoft Office life. Budgets, Finances, Stocks, Excel...there is nothing that can compete against Microsoft Office. There still isn't. This Chromebook can't do Microsoft Office well either so don't expect to get it for that. However, this does manage everything else very well, more than I expected and that's why I'm giving it a 4 stars. I'm still going to use it for my eBay side job. PROS: -No sound (there are no fans) -Does not overheat -I could care less if I dropped this device. I got a great deal (better than Black Friday's Deal) -Keyboard is easy to adjust to; I have long fingers and did not find it cramped at all. -Although it's only an Intel Pentium processor, it's actually not bad after you get past the initial startup. But remember, it's still an Intel Pentium processor not an i3 or i5 or i7. -The stylus is great to have but I feel like there's some latency lag (seems to be the case with screens less than 120hz) and off center. However, still a positive having it and it's bearable so keeping it as a positive. -Battery charges up to full FAST -Battery life is pretty good, solid 8-10 hours surfing etc. and holds the charge. If you stream though you'll only get like 4 - 5 hours. -Screen resolution and sound is great CONS: -When I first got it, the touch screen had some registration issues. I noticed it got better since I updated the OS. There still are some registration issues but it's manageable. -The hinge is way too weak. Not sure if I got a defected one but whenever I lift up the chromebook, the screen falls down like flat about 1 inch or so. Not worth the hassle of sending for a warranty replacement or anything though. -Android app store integration is poor. The apps like Office still crash. I end up just using the chrome browser and logging in to use Microsoft Office. Still, I am not impressed. It won't replace a Windows PC for Office. OneNote frustrates me, sometimes it works very well and no complaints and sometimes it just crashes.

    Typical Samsung: Almost Perfect

This second version of the Chromebook plus builds upon and refines the original design while adding new problems. What is similar to the first gen plus: great s pen stylus integration, usb c charging, micro sd slot for expansion. What is improved: the FHD screen, although lower resolution than the first gen, is bright, colorful and slightly wider 16:10 aspect ratio making it better suited for desktop mode but still comfy for tablet mode. In addition to USB C, samsung added a legacy USB A port (less dongles, more flexibility). The bad: Although this has a back facing camera, which is great and a very useful feature, the software implementation is so buggy and slow it makes the camera unuseable. The original plus weighed 2.2lbs and was perfect for desktop mode and tablet mode, handheld. Samsung jacked up the weight in this second gen plus to 3lbs, making it significantly less comfortable to hold in tablet mode and less competitive for travel to an ipad pro/similar tablet device. Performance is exceptional for a mid range chrome os device and the general build quality is above average and what you'd expect from a mid tier samsung device. I hope gen 3 lightens up this design or makes it detachable. You're almost there Samsung!

This chromebook is a little more expensive than I originally planned to spend. Ultimately, I decided to get this one because it had a slightly larger screen than some of the cheaper options. The stylus is a great addition, and works pretty well, though apps that really cater to stylus input are somewhat hard to come by. Running android apps on this are shotty. Sometimes they work great. Other times they want to lock up and it affects all of the other open apps. It performs really well, and is pretty responsive and zippy. The more I use it, the more I feel it was worth the extra money over the cheaper chromebooks. The screen is a good size, and the resolution is better than some of the alternatives. Overall, I think the extra cost is justified by all the extra features you get.

My wife has been using an old laptop for writing. It was having problems with battery life and wireless connectivity. We purchased this device as a Christmas present for her. Thus far she is very happy with the feel of it (how it feels typing), the size/weight, and the battery life. The only complaint on battery is that it does not give much of a warning between low battery and shutting down. At times she has not had enough warning to plug it in. The only other real complaint is getting used to this operating system over Windows. We are still getting used to it. That, however, is not a problem with this specific model. We would have that going to any Chromebook.

Sleek, lightweight, easy to use, syncs with all of my current equipment. I'm an Android user and having this able to access all of the items on my phone and connect to my drives is fantastic. The ability to convert it to a tablet to write on was crucial in my decision making and I am very pleased with it. Sometimes the response time is slow and my writing takes a few seconds to catch up but other than that it's quite nice. Front facing camera is great, haven't had any issues with it. I have not tried the other camera so I can't speak to that at this time. Overall this is exactly what I needed for my work and studies.

I have only had this for a few days now, so far its nice overall. keyboard works well, i do not see any issue with the travel of the keys, nor the feel. wish it they were lighted. screen is fantastic. I can not seem to get auto correction, or suggestions of misspelled words to work. it will underline in red, but it does not give suggestions. I did have to recover Chrome OS yesterday. I think my grandson may have done something to it. The recovery was simple as pie. I would suggest that you make a recovery usb right away.

My wife is used to a Microsoft laptop, but needed a new device. We picked this up at Christmas time. She loves the size, weight and feel of the keyboard. The battery life seems good over all but is inconsistent and gives very little warning when it is running low and about to die. The operation is very different than what she is used to (which is more of a factor of going Chrome compared to Microsoft) and documentation is not great. So basic operations seem to be a challenge, but she is learning it over time.

Got this $100 off. Works great, it’s battery lasts all day, fairly fast, great screen. There were “Chrome Representatives” from google at the store when I bought this. Looking at a Lenovo but I asked each rep what they actually used and both of them used this one ( I had them pull it out of their backpacks to verify). Kids do all of their schoolwork on this also. No complaints for $400

Loved the rounded edges, but this particular chromebook does not have a back lighted keyboard. One reviewer felt the keys were reflective enough that the screen would illuminate them. This was not the case for me. For the price if it had the backlighted keys I would not have returned it.

Overall great product that allows great comfort for light computing tasks. This literally isn't going to be running anything gaming or windows related out of the box. And while you can put Linux on it, I'm content to just take it for what it is; A simple laptop-esque machine that does basic computer needs.

I bought this for my 10 year old for schoolwork. It won’t handle most gaming (which I appreciate but he doesn’t) but it is reliable, fast, and very sleek. I wasn’t familiar with chrome books when I bought it and I don’t like that it’s all app based, but it does what I need it to so that’s all that matters.

Love this Chromebook. Great as a companion to my iPad Pro when I need a fully browser experience or a little better file management than iPad offers. Only downside is that the pen lags a little bit compared to other S-pens I’ve use but works great for limited situations.

Great keyboard and trackpad; nice screen but a little "washed out"; the Celeron processor handled everything just fine; a bit pricey but nice build quality. Over-all a nice chromebook but I prefer the ease and amoled screen of my tablet.

Great quality , I bought it as a Christmas gift for my 11 year old . Is fast and realiable to browse the internet. The only bad thing is you can’t get all the programs compatible with a laptop. Got it on sale for 100$ less than the regular price .

Absolutely one of the best Chromebooks that I have used. It's light portable and fast. The only thing that I've noticed is that if you are trying to use multiple monitors it will cause flickering and best to use a hub.

Love how easy to use this is. It functions like a laptop and converts to a tablet. Feels very durable, though a bit heavier than I'd like. Has all the features I love in a Samsung product! It's become my go to gadget now!!!

Got this for my 12 yo son for school. Perfect for doing his homework (even though he would prefer being able to use it for games). I like the touchscreen, foldable screen for tablet use and stylus.

This computer was better than expected. I was in between this and Mac and you can say you get what you paid for. It’s not a bad computer if you are just using it for basic stuff.

I only use it for surfing the web and nothing else. And it is ok at that. Battery life not particularly great, but I have no real complaints.
