I was looking for an external ssd for my new laptop and spotted this one afternoon. It was on sale so I bought it. It was a lot smaller that it looked in the picture (a good thing). The drive is encased in a rubber-like substance and has a USB-C port next to a small LED that shows the drive is operating and transferring data on one end. It comes with two small connectors: one has a USB-C connector on both ends; the other has a USB-A 3.0 connector on one end and a USB-C connector on the other. This allows connection to most computers available today (including quite a few older ones). Its dimensions are 3.5" x2.3" x 0.3" or smaller than a 3" x 5" spiral top note pad.
I use it for projects and work-related files but this would be perfect for a gaming computer. Plugged into a USB-A 3.2 USB port, this thing transfers files very fast but plugged into a USB-A Thunderbolt 4.0 port transfers are nearly instantaneous. While running projects the external drive behaves just like the internal SSD on my laptop. Transfers and updates are in the "blink of an eye", so to speak.
If your computer is short on SSD space, this device is an excellent choice for additional hard drive space for gaming, photographs, videos, etc.
Another use for this is taking photos from your digital camera or phone and archiving them. Depending on the camera/phone, you may need a port adapter.
All in all, a superb peripheral with a tiny footprint but huge storage capacity at a modest price. Highly recommend.

We used to use the small rugged Sandisks but after a corrupt batch our company started using these. They are fast and work great for their intended purpose.
I'm taking off 1 star for the material of the casing. Nothing will stick to them. We have tried several types of very sticky tape (gaff, duct, shipping) and various stickers and shipping labels. Nothing sticks because the material is this weird, slippery rubbery material. It's like trying to put tape on a grease spill. People generally need to be able to label their hard drives but there is no way to attach a label or tape so labeling is nearly impossible. The only solution I found was to write directly on the label using a silver paint pen. This is fine if you never intend on using the hard drive for something else down the line so don't need to relabel it.
I don't know if they can change the material but maybe if they include a pre-installed writable white area on the exterior that would solve the problem.

Finally made the switch to an SSD, much faster and I went with the rugged version for the extra protection. Also love how compact these are. Definitely will be purchasing more.

Let me first say that I haven’t been brave enough to test how rugged it is. But it’s definitely better protected than non rugged ones, which I also own.
These are super fast and super reliable. I have had SSDs fail and not one of my Samsung ones have let me down.
