This Samsung SSD drive is great, no problems - although we've only been using it for a month. Easy to use and no issues.

Not sure how the rubber finish will last over time but, it feels solid now and also “locks” itself to the desk when placed which is nice. Transfer speeds are great. The only negative is that the included cord is too long for my use case. Irs probably 8-10 inches long when all I need is 1-3 inches for laptop usage. I swapped the cord out with another USB-C fast cable that is smaller so it works great for my setup now.

I highly recommend this SSD drive since unlike an exterior drive with disks that can fail. This drive was purchased to restore back up data updated from my internet storage account when an exterior drive failed. All internal computer drives and exterior drives (including SSD drives-are backed daily). Though this drive is not the fastest, the price and quality was great.
Can't beat a fast external drive WHEN it runs fast

This upgrade replaces 3 old external hard drives.
While fast, I wasn't able to get near the claims of its speed (until a new PC). It doesn't play well with older USB ports.
Using it on the old PC
It was actually faster using USB 2.0 over 3.0!
USB 3.0: It would start fast on 3.0 (up to 350mbps) then after only a few terabytes (on large file transfers) it would slow down to 30kbps! Yes kilobytes! Sometimes it would speed up again (up to 100Mbps) but would average about 1.5Mbps! I couldn't even use file syncing software to mirror my main drive; it would lock out and freeze.
USB 2.0: It would steadily remain at between 20-40Mbps and could file sync.
Format
By default, it is formatted as exFAT instead of NTFS, so I reformatted to NTFS. It is no longer throttling, the speeds are more consistent, but slower for 3.0 (100-200Mbps)
On the new PC
This one has USB 3.2, which ran about 180-560Mbps.
USB 3.1 runs about 260-400Mbps.
USB 2.0 runs at 40-50Mbps.
Testing
My results were based on the highs and lows of a large transfer of about 1tb.
That being said, I also ran DiskMark and the results were always higher there compared to real-world testing.
For instance, DiskMark did reach 1060Mbps for USB 3.2, so it is now reaching the right speeds.
Also, one of the cords that it came with intermittently lost connection, so the USB to C cable was no good. I discovered this early on, so it is not the cause of the throttling.
I am wondering if there are bad sectors in the drive or maybe an issue with the controller. I could never replicate the issue on command. It seemed to only happen when you didn't want it to. I could have sworn it still throttled a few times since reformatting, but hasn't for the last month even when retesting.
I never had so many issues with a device right out of the box.
Regardless, as of now, it is working and runs fast on USB 3.2. I have tried a dozen cords and ports, and everything seems to be working as intended. If I had gotten it after a new PC, I may have never run into these problems and would have given it 5 stars.

I needed ore space for my PC. I kept hearing about SSDs coming down in price. I waited and then I pounced. it is fast and does what it suppose to do. I use it for gaming and the games just load like butter. it isn't magic so the games that take long to load still take time to load, but like 3% faster. It is easy to use. it comes with a cord to hook it up to your PC. it is a great device

I've had a great experience with Samsung SSDs in the past and this is another stellar performer. I typically edit at home but if I need to travel I grab my laptop and work drives and hit the road. I have some other-branded SSDs which have been fine but I think I may replace those with more of these for reliability as well as shock and water protection.

Excellent external ssd, plus the accompanying application to monitor the overall drive health, temp and read and write speed is an excellent companion to an overall great device. Very snappy and responsive.
