For the price this is a really good deal. I used to buy really expensive ones and they would sometimes not turned on and I would have like a bunch of clips that have no audio. And now whenever I fire up my camera this audio I don't have to turn on the mic there's no on button no off button it just flows. Like when I used to use Amazon ones there was this button that you had to push to start recording sound and guess who always forgets to push that button. This guy here has years of footage that's in the silence but not with this one this one here this mic right here can't go any better. For the price of course.

I bought this mic instead of the RODE Videomicro on camera microphone - Why? This mic is metal construction, comes with a TRS to TRRS cord, which allows you to use the mic with your cell phone, tablet, etc. The cord would have been an extra $15 purchase, if I had bought the RODE mic. The sound recorded with my Galaxy S8+ is great, which will be nice for Facebook Live Streaming on the go! The shock mount looks better than the one that comes with the RODE and it works very well using the 1/4" tripod mount or a Hot Shoe Flash Mount found on many camera tops and my JOBY tripod accessory (See Pic). You will have to be patient and careful when putting the wind screen on as it is a bit tight at the mic entrance point on the screen, which is a rubber stretchy port (See pic). I would not hesitate buying another of these mics.

Needed a compact and inexpensive mic that could run on plug in power for my secondary camera, this works well. Was previously using an older Rode VideoMic Pro but got tired of using 9V batteries. A nice surprise was the included fuzzy windscreen that can go over the foam windscreen when using in high winds.

Using this mic in conjunction with my EOS m6 Mirrorless improved the sound quality in my recorded videos. It's built sturdily and has a nice feel to it. I recommend if you find the RODE mics are too expensive.

This is the second Saramonic Mini microphone that I have purchased in the past 6 weeks from Best Buy, for use at church.
I purchased the original Saramonic Mini so that I would have a personal backup microphone for another brand microphone that the church was using. (I am one who is more comfortable having spares of key items on hand, so I don't have to worry about a parts failure), We have been livestreaming our masses from church using Facebook Live, and it seemed like a good idea to have a backup microphone, especially with holiday masses coming up.
This second Saramonic Mini was purchased because our original brand of microphone (not Saramonic) started having quality issues the week before Christmas. When we tried my Saramonic Mini, the quality of sound was excellent. So I donated my original Saramonic Mini to the church to start using right away, and we purchased this second Saramonic Mini to have for when we need a second microphone.
It turns out that both Saramonic Minis were used from 2 different parishes on Christmas Eve (when we needed 2 microphones - one at each parish), and the sound was flawless from both. (Our priest had one Saramonic Mini with him at one parish that was having a livestream mass, while we had this second Saramonic Mini at our parish for the Bishop).
The quality of sound out of the Saramonic Mini microphone is excellent. We had lots of Facebook comments about how good the sound was. The Saramonic Mini is compact and easy to carry, easy to setup, and easy to use.
If we end up needing a third microphone, the church would purchase another Saramonic Mini without a doubt (and I am planning to go back to Best Buy in the next month or so and purchase one for me to keep and have at home for my personal use).
The Saramonic Mini is a great product at a great price. Top quality, without having to break the bank! What a great value!

Overall this has been probably the best value shotgun mic that I have used. I love that the cable coming out of the mic is a detachable in case something happens to it, or just to be compatible with different devices.
My only gripe, and this might just be something in my case, but it seems to pick up a high pitch whine whenever I use it in certain end or situations. I don't know if this is just wireless interference, or something else. Whenever I don't experience that the quality is pretty much exactly what I expect.
The reason I think this might be wireless interference is because in my situation in an apartment it does pick up that noise stronger some places versus others, but when I've used it in different locations I haven't heard it at all.

First time I've ever used a camera mount microphone that was reasonably priced. I made a test video from my Lumix and the voice was perfect. It's lightweight and easy to plug and play

Saramonic is a brand that I trust to give me superb quality sound for my videos.
If you want to get an awesome sound without breaking the bank, give this little but mighty micro-microphone a try out. I mount it on my sony body or canon body cameras. Great comparison against the rode which is also own. Look for all reviews on youtube concerning the saramonic vmic
You will not be disappointed.

This microphone works really well with my Panasonic Lumix S5 camera and it's worth the price!
It blocks wind noise very well and has clear audio even when using it on a windy day by Lake Huron.
It is much better and more clear audio than the built-in microphone.
It plugs right into the hot shoe on my camera and the camera detected it immediately, No configuration needed and it is very light too.

A theme with these microphones: Get a better cable

The microphone is great, however I would recommend a different cable. The cable is cheap, short, and in most cases will suit just fine since it's meant more for pairing with a phone or camera. It however leaves fragments of ticking and whining from the cable. This is because of poor insulation and interference from wireless signals like bluetooth and wifi. Using a bit of aluminum foil around the 'coil' of the wire helps mitigate this.. but looks tacky.
Just a note that if you want to use this with a phone or tablet, that you want to use a cable that has TRRS on one side (goes to phone) and TRS on the other (goes to microphone). This fools the device that the microphone is a headset (speaker+mic), without the speaker and allows you to record with the microphone!

Phenomenal Value Microphone

I needed to get a microphone for recording live audio at a variety of venues and a variety of subjects. While not having on-microphone audio level controls, the microphone did a great job interfacing with both my iPhone and my Canon DSLR and provided phenomenal sounding audio for the price. One great aspect was not needing external power to operate.
It's not a top-of-the-line microphone, but the audio it recorded was considerably above what I was expecting for the price. I would definitely recommend this for anyone looking for a value microphone.

I did a bunch of test videos with my camera comparing the quality of sound with and without this mic as soon as I received it.
There was a noticeable improvement but only under the right conditions. I was in my basement office which can be a problem with ambient noises from the furnace, a/c, foot steps above, etc.
When those conditions were present, I didn't really notice an improvement to my sound quality. But when I was starting from a quiet environment...I DID notice enough of an improvement to the voice quality that I feel it was worth the price of this budget mic.

Works great and sounds great as well. But it is a bit sensitive. If using in a small room that isn't sound proofed well you will hear reverb/echoing idk what the right term to use but my room is small and not sound proofed and the audio sounds echo-y. But only in my room though. When recording outside or a decently big room the audio sounds fine.

I needed a mic to use with my DSLR and one was perfect. The size is good, feels like a quality product and sound was a big improvement. Plugged right into my Sony a6000 and worked perfectly out of the box. I would recommend this mic to anyone looking for an affordable, solid microphone.

Great mic quality and sound pick up. It comes with two detachable cables - one with a double band and one with a triple band on the metal pin. The foam cover works well. No complaints
