Shark dream
||Posted . Owned for 2 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My wife and I have been very happy with this product. Just kick it off with the smart phone and around 75 minutes later the floors are clean. We have 100 year old hardwoods with various rugs payed around and this Shark just goes up and down without any problems. The self emptying works like a champ too.

Became a fan
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When we bought this vacuum we were very skeptical. However, after using it for a week, we have become fans. This thing gets into places we only did a few times a year because they were hard to get to. Even after a week it still comes back with dirt and lint. It is one of our better purchases.

A dream come true
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Works good and pleased with the results. Just a little disappointed that it isn't a little more portable in that they say it's best to 'dock' it in the same place all the time. I have three levels and would have liked to moved it from the lower to upper level but based upon their recommendation I leave it on the lower level/

I love my shark!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was a little skeptical about this shark vacuum but so far it works great. I have dogs so there is always dog hair and this vacuum does a great job. On occasion it will get dog hair stuck and I’ll have to pull it out but other than that it’s great. I love the Soto empty feature too.

Good robot for maintaining floor but…
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great basic robot for maintaining floor. Not so good with pet hair and deep cleaning. Pet owners with shedding long fur should look else where. This vacuum gets stopped up like bad nasal congestion.

Mama's assistant
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little vacuum works pretty good. I will say you should go ahead and buy some boundary strips to put around things you don't want it to vacuum or get stuck on because it does not come with that in the box. That's the only reason I took off one star.

Very happy so far!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After going through five Roomba’s in six years we decided to try a different brand. Very happy so far. Runs quit and seem to work well even without any magnetic barriers. Like the three alternative suction options but wish the machine could sense and adjust automatically between carpet and hard floors as one of our Roomba could.

Better than my Roomba
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Honestly better than my Roomba. I'm a single guy with messy friends and I don't like to vacuum so this is perfect. Every Roomba I've bought dies in about a year or less. This seems significantly better and usually don't need to be reset/ brought back to the base station or fiddled with.

Great, if you have the space
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Shark RV912S is a nice little robot vacuum. It is pretty much a run of the mill robot vacuum, with one great additional feature; the self-empty charging base. I didn't think I would really care much about this feature at first. I already have another robot vacuum from a different manufacturer that I'm used to emptying fairly frequently. But this self-emptying thing is something I can get used to. They suggest you can go up to two weeks before needing to empty the bin. Of course, this all depends on how often you run the machine and how dirty your space gets. We decided to keep our EZ Robot on a floor that doesn’t get a lot of everyday use, so I only run the machine every 2 or 3 days. By the time I decided to empty out the bin, I’d figured there wouldn’t be very much to throw away. I was surprised at how much this little robot was able to collect for how infrequently the space was used over the span of a week and a half. The only bit I don’t really like about the self-emptying feature is that it is pretty darn loud. If you have children that take naps, I would suggest you schedule cleaning during times they’re awake. Speaking of scheduling. The Shark app gives you the ability to set your robot up with a cleaning schedule. You can set your robot to start vacuuming at any time (divisible by 5 minutes) any or every day of the week. Oddly, there is no option to set a quitting time, so I presume the robot runs until the battery requires recharging or its dust bin is full. One thing I learned testing the scheduling option is that the robot needs light if you want it’s mapping function to work. It will vacuum just fine in the dark, but you just won’t be able to see a map report on the areas it cleaned. The machine is incredibly easy to use. Emptying it is a breeze. You just press a button on top and pull the bin from the side to detach it from the charging base. Then you just hold the bin over a trash can and press another button that opens a door on the bin and everything falls out. The app is pretty simple too, maybe even barebones. It’s as easy as pressing the “play” button to start cleaning and then pressing the “stop” button to send the vacuum back to the charger. If using an app isn’t for you though, you can simply press the “clean” button on the top of the robot itself to set it on its way. Then, to stop it, you can press the “charge” button. It will, of course, be moving in this situation, but it doesn’t move terribly fast. Another feature I really like about this vacuum is its mapping ability. After each run you can look at a map of where it has gone in your home via the app. After several cleanings you will have the ability to create “no-go” areas on this map. It must take quite a few cleanings before this function is available though, because after nearly a dozen runs I still am not able to test this feature out. Although, if there are specific areas you do not want the robot to clean, there are boundary strips available that will keep your robot from crossing whatever boundary you create. The user guide suggests that boundary strips are included in the box with this model, but they were absent from mine. The one feature I’m really in love with is the ability to adjust the volume on its “voice.” My other robot (from a different manufacturer) screams, “STARTING TO CLEAN!” no matter how low you set its volume. This vacuum on the other hand, will adjust to a much more appropriate volume. I would suggest not muting it completely though. If it gets stuck under something or makes its way into an area you didn’t think it could go, you’ll want to be able to hear it so you can find it. One feature I wasn’t able to test was the robot’s compatibility with Amazon Alexa. I have the Shark skill all set in Alexa, but just couldn’t get the system to find my device. Personally, I’m not all that upset as I prefer to tap a button in an app than to ask a voice assistant to perform a task. Something that may be a deal breaker when deciding to purchase this vacuum is the amount of space it needs. While it is small, the directions state that the charging dock should be placed against a wall with 3 feet of open wall space on either side; that comes out to around 7 total feet of unobstructed wall space when you include the width of the device. It also requires clearance above so that you have access to empty the dust bin on the charger. I certainly do not have that much free wall space anywhere that wouldn’t be a tripping hazard. Because of these space requirements we were not able to keep the robot on the main floor where we wanted it. It not only would’ve caused many a stubbed toe but it would be a bit of an eyesore… and a toddler attraction! Ultimately, we put our EZ robot under a chair in a space that doesn’t come close to the suggested clearance. The vacuum has performed perfectly. Another issue that may put someone off of buying this robot is the amount of maintenance involved. There is, of course, the emptying of the dust bin which is less frequent with this model. But there are several filters that need washed or replaced fairly frequently. The rotating brush arms feel a little flimsy and I get the feeling they will need to be replaced once or twice a year, even with just moderate use. As of my writing this, it is also not terribly clear on how to get replacement items. The app offers a link to replacement parts, which will take you to the Shark website, but gives you results for the RV1001AE model. I imagine it’s likely these parts work with the 912S model, but it is unclear.
