Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy! Our second (a new replacement) Sharp drawer microwave just died. Our experience is similar to others- give it 2 years, and it will give up the ghost. Our first lasted 6 weeks or so. I have contacted Sharp, and waiting for their reply. I will also contact my home builder to tell then never to recommend this to anyone ( (and also let their suppliers know this is not a good recommendation).

The second lasted 5 years and 1 month, just beyond the 5 year extended warranty we purchased. Sharp customer service would not assist other than sending out a service man to tell me what I already know.

I beg anyone considering this microwave to find a different one. Had this in my center island for a few months before one day after popping some left over food into it in about 10 seconds black smoke was filling my house. Fortunately, I was able to unplug quickly, but the fire smell and heat coming off the microwave was super strong and the amount of smoke was incredible after 10 seconds of use. Very fortunate it did not do damage to my outlet after having the electrician come to check. If you want to keep your family safe do not buy this product.

AVOID AT ALL COST

The unit will start popping and catch fire if not turned off in time. When you call Sharp they want to sell you a new unit, and act as though they haven't heard of the problem. There is a class action lawsuit against Sharp for this issue.
