Owned for 2 months when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I spent plenty of time doing what I thought was due diligence searching for a security system I could self-monitor and have the occasional ability to pay monthly for monitoring services if we were on vacation, but Simplisafe is definitely not the system for anyone not looking to have $0 or less than $10 monthly subscription. You cannot even receive notifications of alarms without paying for their monthly subscription. There are minimal options for automating as there are only Off, Home, and Away modes so turning alarms on when sleeping for example is nearly impossible. Please think twice if you are looking for a truly self-monitoring system without the baggage of subscription fees.

Posted .If you're not ready for Monitoring Service, you can still downgrade your system to Basic App Control, which allows you to control your system and receive push notifications for alarms through the SimpliSafe app - at no additional cost.
Some features, like notifications through SMS and email, 24/7 dispatch, and scheduled arms/disarms do require an active Monitoring Plan.

Every time a sensor battery dies and you replace it, the system will not simpli recognize that you have replaced the battery. You have to painfully troubleshoot the system and call in.
