Versatile lens

Excellent lens for wildlife and sport photography

Works great with Sony mirrorless cameras. The only negatives are size and weight, You have to use a tripod or a monopod. I am happy with the purchase

Great reach and sharpness

I am impressed by the level of detail I can achieve with this lens. It's usually quick enough to focus on small, fidgety birds. It does a respectable job on cloudy or overcast days. My only struggle is the weight. It's not the easiest lens to carry around on a long hike. The arms and shoulders get tired after an hour of shooting handheld.

Just be ready for how massive it is. I’ve used it for nature and sports video/photo and it has been great with my Sony A7sIII. Sharp and durable, but not easy to climb mountains with it on your back.

Best Sony zoom for the money

Images are tack-sharp, zoom is internal with a nice short throw. Only complaint, its not the best for hiking, but its probably the smallest full frame 600mm you're gonna find.

Glad I purchased this lens vs others.

Not particularly thrilled at the weight, but that is somewhat expected. Image quality is good, that too expected. I chose this specifically because the zoom is internal, the lens does not extend which given the weight could have an impact in some situations.

It is not light by any means (I usually have it mounted on a monopod) however the image quality is superb. Go for the 1.4X teleconverter if you want even more reach.

Monster Lens

Especially if you're using it on a mirrorless camera like I have. There's too much weight to distribute and balance, so try to remember to not leave home without a tripod when you got out shooting with it. I was impressed with the quality of the shots I received for a 5.6-6.3 lens. Great tool to have in your arsenal when you want to shoot wildlife.

Certainly worth the money!

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I own the Sony 100-400mm lens as well and this lens, though not a G Master lens, is certainly its equal in autofocus speed and sharpness. The extra weight is what you pay for the extra 200mm of reach but I think its a more-than-fair trade off. I used the 100-400mm with the Sony 1.4x tele-extender and I feel I get better speed in the autofocus and better resolution with the 200-600mm.
