I am able to watch my programs in my kitchen from an angle with no problem. Our salespersons were so helpful in pointing out the pluses of each TV to help us make our choice. The clarity at the angle I watch the tv is excellent. The color is vivid and true to life. We are very satisfied with our purchase.

We've owned this TV for one week. The quality of the picture is just unbelievable! The colors, clarity and focus of objects in the background is superb. After watching this TV, we have a hard time watching the other HD TV we had that is now in the bedroom. We may replace it in the future with another OLED Sony TV!

Still the best oled tv

Have had several oled tvs since 2015 & between Sony & lg, Sony still has the best oled tv to date. No shadow detail issues, sharper more detailed image with superior upscaling & better color. I also took delivery of the Lg 55C9P & after calibration the Sony 55A8G had a better all around image, kept the Sony & sent back the LG.

The brightness and sharpness of the image is consistent across the entire screen, from edge to edge. The screen illumination technologies used on less expensive sets do not have the same level of edge-to-edge consistency as on the Sony OLEDs. The built-in speakers/audio system satisfies our needs very well so we haven't felt the need to add a sound bar. We enjoy watching older movies and TV shows (1940s-1960s era) and were concerned about whether we'd have a problem with the soap-opera effect. Happily, we haven't noticed that problem on this set. From an aesthetics standpoint, we like the appearance of this set because it doesn't have an additional outer frame around the screen like so many other brands/models have which tend to call attention to the set when it's turned off. This one just looks sleek. We use the table-top stand which is nice because it's low to the table top leaving very little gap below the screen where you would otherwise see the cables behind the unit.

Amazing picture But lacks in sound

The quality of picture is everything you expect it to be. I'm giving this review 4 stars because of sound quality. We find you need to really turn the volume up high to get decent sound. I also find the app search function a little clunky to use and understand. Think of how much this TV costs. Those who can afford one are older, not your 20 somethings that have a great handle on software such as this. The user interface/GUI should be more streamlined and tailored to the buyers.

Anything would have been an eye-catcher after our last TV and this is. Having read a multitude of reviews and spoken to sales folks who asked about our viewing habits and interests without pushing a specific brand or TV, this TV should work for us for many years if 4K really does grow in availability.
We've read of others easy to use out of the box. This one is if all you want to do is treat it like it's not a Smart TV. The remote control is flimsy, hard to see the keys, and often accepts the selection too slowly or too quickly. We suppose that means using the voice commands. Like all these Smart TVs, they track everything you do with, and say to, the TV.
Too meet a January deadline of ours, we did not have this 55" TV delivered. It fit snugly, without any damage, in a Honda CRV, standing up between the front and rear seats from door to door. Not recommended by Best Buy, but it worked for us. Undoubtedly a bigger vehicle is better.
The stand is perfect for us and solidly sits on the furniture we already had on the one center stand vs the two sets of legs many sets have. Assembling it as a 1st time owner of this kind of TV was not clear from the Ikea-like picture directions, but we found a great video online by searching for the specific TV - Sony A8G series (known elsewhere as AG8 with helpful information, too).
Best Buy will accept for recycle old TVs less than this size for a fee in states them to charge.
We paid $1500 + 2 year warranty.
Our experience has been that these reviews cannot be updated, or even repeated if purchased the same item already reviewed. Here's hoping it lasts longer than the three days it's been in use and we have time to learn the options available that make it "smart".

Outstanding picture, as would be expected of a Sony OLED 4K TV. Had a Samsung LED 4K, which had a good picture, but was only sharp
when sitting directly in front of it. Finally
got the Sony when it was on sale. Nice to have a Great Picture from all angles! Love It!!

I bought this cause I loved my 65" Sony A8G so much. This TV is great for streaming Netflix, also the upscaling is very good. I had to take it back though because ultimately I want this TV for playing video games and the input lag is noticeable and it does not support HDMI 2.1.

After several months waiting for the price of Sony OLED tvs to drop, they finally did it on this model, I couldn't be happier with my purchasing desition on this model, the colors and black levels are amazing, make sure you have a good HDMI cable able to support all the required bandwidth for maximum enjoyment. Maybe LG's OLED comes closer to the picture quality but there is a winner and in my opinion the award goes to Sony.

Finding a tv similar to the same experience to a plasma is challenging but this tv is definitely one that you will like. I had a 42" Panasonic Plasma - time for an upgrade and this one fit the bill! You won't be disappointed! Oh and price match to get an addy'l $200 off was even better!

This TV has a beautiful Picture. We purchased the new TV because our 4 year old TV could not load some of the streaming shows. This OLED was better for our setup than the QLED.

So far I'm very pleased with this TV. Easy to set up. wonderful detail and color from the picture. Was very surprised with the sound. Don't need additional equipment( ie sound bar) but that would make the movie experience much better.

OLED screen is amazing and shows every shade of black. The speakers built into the screen make for a very clean look. It’s a SONY so it goes without saying the quality is great. My wife loves it too which helps with the price tag!

Inky blacks, great quality picture, no OLED burn so far. But the real reason I went with the Sony over LG was the OS. Works so seamlessly with the remote, and has the apps I need.

Brilliant screen with very good color rendition and contrast, plus great detail. Excellent electronic switching to connect various streaming devices to tv screen while sending only the audio signal to an AVR receiver.
