I have been looking at TVs for some time and was initially narrowed down on the Sony X850c or Samsung JU7100 series TVs. Both looked exceptional to me in the store and very comparable, even price. When the X810c Sony came out I didn't give it much thought until a few weeks ago when the first reviews started coming in. It was that and seeing the different models in multiple stores that helped me to focus my scope on the X810c or the Samsung JU6500 TV.
I see them as very similar, but the sony reviews better and I did see some blurring on the sports content that the samsung was playing when I viewed it, which had me leaning toward the Sony and its native 120 hz panel. After seeing them again in store and both being the same price I pulled the trigger on the Sony X810c, since it has the same processor/scaler as the 850 series but minus the HDR support that I don't see as necessary at this point.
So far the TV is exceptional and I couldn't be happier with its clarity and upscaling abilities, which was something I was worried about with so little 4k content available. It does not have any of the issues with conversion from HD to 4k that were common between 480p/SD content to HD. I am also please with Best Buy's price matching since it is on sale for $200 less this week which returned to me.

I looked at several models before this purchase and am so glad I went with this model. The TV is extremely clear and the perfect size for our livingroom. I think anything under 65 would be too small.

The pros: Very good color, broad viewing angle, sound, OTA reception, style, not real heavy, smart TV, with android, many inputs.
The cons: menus are a bit confusing, even for myself and I am tech savy. But it took my wife a week to figure out to press Guide for TV and Discover to get into android app mode. You can add apps, but getting to the menu to add is an adventure. The android mode has speech recognition for searching, just like your phone. I read the manual twice and still can't use it. The manual says push the speech button on the remote. My remote doesn't have that button. At the store, they don't have a remote with a speech button...kind of a useless feature. You can pair your phone with the TV...does that give it speech capabilities? Don't know. The manual says nothing about that and actually nothing about the benefits fo pair your phone to the TV.
Discussion: I was torn between Samsung and Sony. The reviews were similar and in store demo was about the same. Price on sale was the same. So I went with Sony, but could have picked Samsung just as easily. I went with 4k, but to be honest, its probably not worth the extra $$$ because there is so little content (remember blue-ray..yes I bought into that as well..and now...). The sony tries to make use of 4k by dynamically blending the pixels. My view of that, oh thats nice.... I use the TV with Sling TV and the streaming is great and HD is fabulous. OTA HD looks wonderful as well. The TV has lots of inputs if your a gadget person. For me, only the (no content) blueray player is plugged in. The TV has a lot of features poorly or not even documented in the manual (like speech search). Sometimes my wife puts the TV into speech search mode by accident. Then she tells me to do something. I stand in front of the TV and tell it to go to ...in a minute or so it times out and drops out of speech mode. So the speech mode has some entertainment value!

While looking for a TV that isn't "smart", I came to the conclusion that if I wanted a great picture and screen size, that just wasn't going to happen. I already have many devices attached that can do everything and more than any smart TV, so I was hoping to get something without the features I don't need. Anyways, I figured I would try out the Android TV features to see what it's like, and maybe I can eliminate going to one or two of my devices for media features. Unfortunately, this will not be happening, as the OS is clunky and laggy (which you can come to expect from Android). Netflix often had the audio go out of sync with the video, apps crash, and some apps just don't detect that there's an Internet connection (even if I switch to another app that connects fine). If you're looking for the best smart TV experience, look elsewhere.
Having said that, the picture is amazing! Playing games from my PC in 4K looks stunning, and watching videos in 4K also looks amazing. As most content is still 1080p, the upscaling is perfect, and looks great there too. It's plenty bright, has a good contrast ratio, and the colour reproduction is top class. Plenty of inputs too. I didn't expect a TV of this caliber to have more than one shared composite in, but it also has a separate one so I can hook up my retro video game collection without issue. When I turn on my PS4, it automatically turns on my audio receiver, and TV, and switches everything to the correct input, just for that added little extra functionality.
In the end, if you don't care about the smart TV features, this is the perfect TV for the price (bought at $1699).

I shopped these 4Ks a while to determine my choice. The Samsung has always been my go to TV but this one seemed a better deal with its native 120hz refresh rate. The side lit screen doesn't get great reviews but in my opinion it's fine. I will agree with others, and say the sound is lacking but it does provide sound adequate enough to listen in a small living room. The clarity of the pic with HD cable is great. The only down fall I have found, it's very noticeable with poor quality content but that's not a TV issue at all. Plug in a BLU RAY, and it's perfect. Now I can't wait for 4K content to become mainstream. The smart feature is a really nice bonus.

Our old TV went out and because it was under the black tie warranty we were able to use it towards a new TV. We knew we wanted a smart TV. After reviewing and seeing so many options we decided to go with this one. We were also going to pick up a digital receiver until our salesman told us one was built in. We thought, OK, sure it might be OK. Holy cow is it better than OK! We got this right before The Super Bowl and thought we'd have to find it on our computer to watch it. We don't pay for cable. Not only were we able to watch The Super Bowl, it could have been on many different channels and still be available to watch. We even get ESPN! The price might be a bit high but for what you get, it's well worth it. Not to mention Hulu and Netflix and Amazon and so much more. If you don't need a curved TV or 3D this is the one you want!

Background
Was in the market for 65 inch LED 1080p TV for the last few months and with the prices of 4K almost matching with 1080p I switched and also not much 1080p option for 60+ inches.I zero'ed in on either LG/Sony and after seeing initial review on this model was in the fence for 810C/850C and the difference between the two is around $300 and the difference is the non-availability of 3D,HDR and TRILUMINOS. I pulled the trigger on 810C @$1500
Package & Initial Setup
Package was well secured so we brought it home in the back of my wifes honda SUV with no problems . Already had a articulating mount on the wall and it took me and my wife to set it up on the mount. wasnt to heavy i believe about 55 lbs. Did some basic checks and no dents or anything and there is no leakages in the screen and color uniformity is good and one more info which would help some is .Its dual voltage (110-220V --50/60).Good TV if we need to take it to other regions.
Was able to connect other external devices like PS3,hard disk or a sound bar without any issues and within a minimum time.
Picture Quality & Sound
Please find below the update on each point:
4K - Checked in you Tube and they are really good.
1080p Content - Very good.Sports are good without much blur.
SD Content - Average-Its not that good in up-scaling and some of the channels are not displayed that good (PBS Kids etc).Overall average in viewing SD content. No major impact as almost all the major channels are coming in HD nowadays.
Sound :Below Average . I agree that most LED has this issue ,not expected for $1500 TV and not from Sony . I do not use the TV sound
I hooked my trusty old 7.1 Onkyo and blow the windows out lol.
Viewing Angle : Its really good for most of the practical angles.
Android TV
Viewing Angle : Its really good for most of the practical angles.
Really Good ,No issues and easy to use if you have used android in phone/tablet.Most of the major apps are there and considering google's track record I am expecting to improve a lot and upgrades happening regularly. One of the major plus for this TV.
Overall:
Very good TV if you watch HD content most of the time.Would definitely recommend . If you are buying please budget for a Sound bar
or surround system..
Hope this review helps anyone who are in the market for 4K TV.

After deciding to replace my Samsung plasma set, I did some online investigation and settled on either a Samsung UHD set or a Sony. I spent some time at my local Best Buy store and picked the Sony, based on what I thought were better technical features (refresh rate, processor speed, etc.). I also like the Sony's mounting base better than the Samsung's.
Thanks to the onscreen menus this set is easy to set up. In addition, the picture and sound can be tweaked in a number of ways so that one can achieve results that are very satisfying. This is the best TV set I have ever owned. I liked it so much that I bought a 49" version for my stepson.

Great picture even though we don't have HD cable. Other sources, netfflix, Amazon tv look great. The remote took some time to learn the buttons. Kept pushing the wrong one (this may just be a learning curve thing). The input menu for switching inputs does not stay up long enough for me to find the correct button. The only negative is the speakers. Hard to hear the dialogue. Very poor volume. This was solved by hooking up a surround sound system.
Only had it for a couple months but so far so good, I don't recommend things to friends. Everyone has different tastes. But this review makes me click one so I said yes.

So like most people that will probably read this, I did a ton of research on which 4kTV I was going to buy this black Friday. I ultimately decided on the XBR65X810C.
I had to return 2 of these sets to Best Buy and I am currently on my 3rd one and I'm not sure if I will keep it. I have until Jan 15th 2016 to decide.
The first set I received had a large while cloud/ light bleed in the top right hand corner. (I included a picture of this) I tinkered with all the settings with the backlight and contrast and automatic brightness from the light sensor but I was unable to fix that one left corner from looking very poor and uneven. The TV was unwatchable, I just keep starting at that corner while watching movies and regretting my purchase, so I returned it and told Best Buy my model was defective. Best Buy was really nice about the exchange, it was really painless.
So onto my second set that i received. When the second set arrived the delivery guys packed up the old one and we plugged in the new set. I was crossing my fingers that all corners of the new 4kTV would look even. Surprisingly when we plugged in the replacement XBR65X810C that same exact corner had a lightbleed exactly like the first one did. (I Included a picture of the second one) The delivery guys from Best Buy were in shock and apologized saying that have never seen 2 Sony sets bad in a row. I asked if I was being too picky and if this lightbleed was normal but they agreed that this was excessive and even though LED TVs will have some normal lightbleed this was beyond that and weird because it was so pronouced in one corner only. I immediately called Best Buy and the manager Chuck & the delivery guy JIm were awesome. They agreed to let me return the second set try my luck with a third set and scheduled a delivery for me. They apologized and empathized. Best Buy was on point.
So lets fast forward to the 3rd set. When this one arrived I was anxious and skeptical but after setting it up it looked good! What a relief! It was hard to tell at first because my living room is bright but after night came i obsessively inspected the screen and noticed that the same top left corner still had a tiny lightbleed but significantly less than the first 2. It's definitely a huge improvement and I'm probably only being super critical of the corner because of the first two XBR65X810Cs bringing my attention to it.
Overall though:
PROS
- Beautiful Picture (Upscaling, Contrast, Brightness and Color are on par with the more expensive Samsung sUHDs)
- Sync's up amazingly with my Sony 7.2 receiver and the remotes work with each other so now i only need one remote for sound and tuning.
- Automatically switches to game mode when i turn on my PS4
- 4k streaming from Youtube, Netflix, Amazon all work great and display beautifully.
- Screen mirroring/casting with my ipad and android phone work like a charm.
CONS
-Manufacturing defects in the uniformity/fitting of the panel, especially the top left corner, causing light to bleed out of the edges.
- Occasionally the remote inputs become laggy. Ill hit and button and nothing happens, then i'll hit it once or twice more and suddenly the TV catches up and I'm on channel "222" instead of "2". (I'm pretty sure this will be fixed by a firmware update)
- Long initial setup about 1-2 hours of downloading and updates (I've done it three times now!)
- The built-in sound is poor, of course if your buying a 65 inch 4kTV you probably have external speakers.
- Wireless internet signal will sometimes just drop and refuse to work unless i restart my router. It's strange because my PC, Laptop, Ipad, PS4 & phone still have connectivity. Could be an issue with the router but I've never had problems with it before so who knows.
Overall its a nice 4kTV but if you choose this model here are two pro tips for you:
- Check for light bleed immediately by viewing a mostly black image. If you can check it at the store you should before you schedule it for delivery or take it home. I wish i did :-(
- Turn the light sensor setting off. It automatically adjust brightness according to room lighting and it was driving me crazy. Trust me on this one.

I've had this product for a months now and it has met all of my expectations.
Picture quality is amazing. Colors stand out as close to OLED as possible and refresh rate is great.
The blacks could use some work. If you're a gamer and play a lot of dark-themed games, you might look closer at Samsung.
The only issue I've had is that the TV not turn off or change displays. It was displaying my Dish fine on HDMI 1 but when I tried to turn it off before going to sleep, it wouldn't. I tried to change the display in hopes that would work, and nothing. I finally had to unplug it to get it to shut down. So far that's been an isolated incident and I've had no other problems before or since.

I really recommend this television to those that want more life like TV. I almost bought a Samsung TV, the colors looked brighter, but with this TV things look more natural to me. I saw that people complained about the lack of a motion/voice remote. It comes with a standard remote that still makes it easy to navigate to the Smart Apps.
I bought this TV for sports and gaming and it has not disappointed!
I will say this and I did not take off a star because all flat screens lack this. Speakers are not all that great, they are good. I had a soundbar and with other TVs that I have had I also used a soundbar. It is a smaller screen so do no expect for manufacturers to pack great speakers.

My wife and I bought three different TVs before getting this one, we bought a Vizio and an LG, this TV out performs them all. The colors are super rich and super realistic. While it doesn't appear as bright in the store as the other sets, when in your living room it looks better than I could have ever imagined. The added Smart TV features make it more than pleasant to live with, allowing me to look at Hulu Netflix and a host of other apps right from my livingrooom. Also the advantage of Arc allows you to easily connect to several different home theater systems. Awesome all around set that I will be happy to own and keep for years to come.

I've spent about one month with this set, and it works perfectly well. It's budget 4k tv so I knew I shouldn't expect too much as same as the Samsung or LG curved ones. And I seached ratings for 4k tv, this one is in the middle of the ranking. Decent black except for light bleeding on the top left corner, easy to use due to android system, unnoticeable input lag when I connect it with Xbox One. When I put the Kinect on the table in the middle, it blocked the signal reciever so the remote becomes hard to use. When I log in Netflix via Xbox interface, it would never show the 4K content unless I do it from the tv interface, but I guess this might not be Sony's fault. Overall, it's a nice tv. Hope it will work well for several years until I replace it with something really draw me in.
