Camera works like a dream. Photos looks great and 4k video is awesome. For the price I thought was worth it but I got a like new open box for a few hundred off. Camera is way faster than M4 but otherwise has a lot of similar specs. Battery on this camera is decent but expect to need extra batteries for video - and only use Sony batteries - for some reason the other branded batteries only last half as long.

By way of background, I needed a camera that I could travel with that would take excellent photos but still be small and light enough to allow me to keep up with a mobile toddler. I'm also a Nikon D7100 DSLR user and a photography enthusiast, so I needed a certain level of quality. Although the RX100V is lacking in zoom, it more than makes up for it with clear photos that can be cropped down if necessary. The autofocus and shutter are insanely quick, rivaling my DSLR (they might even be a touch faster, though I hate to admit that). Great for quick snaps of kids that would otherwise be missed. I end up with a lot more photos than I might otherwise since it's so quick, but buried within them is always the gem I'm looking for. The photos aren't DSLR quality, due to the smaller sensor and glass, but they'll top any phone's camera and the small size of the RX100v makes it highly portable and readily available to take those quick photos. Can't recommend it enough.

Takes great pictures out of the box with no knowledge at all.. BUT if you spend some time to explore its features its quite remarkable how much creative flexibility you can get-- especially if you dont just rely on the manual which Id give a B-/C+... buy a $15 kindle book on Amazon that goes into this camera in depth... its a learning curve but worth it if you are interested in photography beyond just taking snapshots (which you prob are if you are looking at this camera).
My only complaints (both solvable with $)- it doesnt come with a battery charger, you have to charge the battery in teh camera (tho I like the fact that the camera can be powered by an ordinary Android cable, no unusual plugs). And on a related note, this camera does chew through batteries, if you take a fair # of shots or shoot much video you will want a spare or two (and the external charger).

There's no denying that this camera is very expensive! You aren't going to get around it. No matter where you shop, the price isn't going to change. That said, with an expensive price comes a camera that's built with so many great features! From awesome photo quality to amazing video (4K).
A few things I would mention to anyone considering getting this:
- It's a great camera! Hands down the best small camera out there right now.
- I'm giving this four stars because it doesn't come with a user manual really and so you really need to learn a lot on your own. It's built with sooo many features that you really need to take some time to learn everything. I definitely recommend going online and watching videos on youtube and such. There's great stuff up there with expert photographer guidance.
- Shooting video in 4K will only give you about 5 minutes. Other video is as much time as you want, but with 4K you can only get about 5 minutes. It looks incredible though
- Definitely buy an extra battery or two especially if you are traveling!! I bought this before going to Asia and it was so helpful!
It's a great camera and will totally capture great moments and memories! Also, great for blogging!

I purchased this camera on a quick trip to New York. My DSRL’s were something I didn’t want to take. So I bought this on my trip and it turned out to be the greatest point and shoot. It self lights up in dimly lit areas. The pictures are crisp, clean and beautiful. It is now my everyday camera. I literally carry it in my daily work bag Incase I come across that one picture that I need. The self lining and digital horizontal line on the screen is another great tool. It is great wide angle camera and an excellent portrait camera. I would definitely recommend this to beginners. I have recently picked up a gimbal and I have shot a couple of practice videos and they look great. I can’t wait to get more use out of this camera.

This camera fills that middle ground between the quick photo snap with a phone that you don't really care about quality and lugging the bigger DSLR around. This one fits in your pocket and gives you the ability to capture a high quality picture in situations where a phone would struggle as well.

The image quality is excellent considering it's small size. I can not distinguish the photograph between this and my 5D Mark III when shoot in daylight. When in dark, it can capture beautiful stars and even milky way, but the noise is noticeable since it only has a 1 inch sensor. Overall it's a great camera to carry around, and really help a lot when you need more than an IPhone camera.

I absolutely loved this camera. The new phase-detect autofocus system is spectacular. The burst shooting mode at 24 frame per second is the fastest I'd ever seen. The sharp, fast lens and 1 inch sensor allow you to take stunning photos even in low lighting conditions. It's very pocketable so it's easy to take with you. If there are shortcomings on the camera, it's the less than stellar battery life and inability to shoot video in 4K for longer than 5 minutes. Of course, it's also pretty darn expensive but I guess you get what you pay for.

If you're looking for a small, lightweight camera that's perfect for travel and just everyday use, look no further. Despite being a "point and shoot" the RX100 V is a serious beast that packs in a ton of professional-grade features, such as 4K video, super slow motion, and 24fps burst mode. I bought this to take on a vacation so I wouldn't have to lug around my larger Sony cameras, and I fell in love with this thing. Is it a little pricey? Sure, but hey, you get what you pay for, and in my opinion this thing is worth every dollar.

I've been using this camera (V) for several months and love the small size, fast focusing (as quick as an SLR), speedy lens (1.8!), and excellent pictures. All the adjustments (timer, adjust exposure, zoom, flash) are easy to make quickly. I know the VI has a longer zoom, but at the expense of lens speed, so I'm happy with the faster lens of the V. For example, I've used it to take an existing light shot of a Titanic panarama that was like a dark movie theater. Came out wonderfully.

I found that a few of the new cameras have a protective ( glass or plastic ) cover in front of the lens so you dont have to worry about damaging your lens with dust. I believe this is the smallest professional camera out there since it has Kelvin scale and most everything the a6000 has. Its a little heavy but you will get used to it. I trust you will be happy with this baby. But if you are unsure check it out at the store and see for your self.

It's pocket sized. Love it more than my Sony A6000. I just leave it in the car and keep it in the side pocket. Bought extra batteries as shooting videos in 4K takes up a lot of juice.

Good point and shoot. I like the image quality. The menu system is wonky. The real gold star goes to video and lightening fast focusing. Other than that, the image quality is good. No external mic accommodations. Taking audio in via a separate source is another step and more editing time. It needs a Bluetooth option for 1-2 channel remote mics.

No other way to have a pocketable 4k beast except for this little beauty! Great quality videos at 1080p too and sharp pictures like you would expect from SONY....buyer beware......battery life is pretty bad. If you can tolerate that then the quality won't disappoint you at all! Best camera for blogging too other than the g7x II which is a great second place to this!!!

I used to carry larger cameras and accessories but no more. My RX100 takes beautiful pics in low light, bright light and in-between. Tons of features and it's inexpensive to download RX100 V how-to books to take full advantage if its advanced features. I love its solid build, super sharp images and expect it to be as dependable as my previous RX100, II & III.

This is such a great camera. Love using it for VLOGing and even my travels across Europe without having to haul my DSLR.
The camera is light in weight, takes wonderful pictures giving me great control over exposure and mostly.
Recommend grabbing a couple extra batteries, for backup, the camera eats up juice when doing any kind of filming.

I purchased this camera to use mostly for video while I was on vacation. I am very pleased with the quality of the video and it takes great photos as well. I also purchased extra batteries with my camera because the battery does die rather quickly when using it for video.
