I bought this camera for the Kiss Kruise as I was told you could not use detachable lens cameras to shoot the bands. With an OPTICAL zoom to 200mm and a 2.8 F stop this camera seemed the best way to go. I shoots VERY nice pictures, almost the quality of my Nikon D3, and it's much easier to live with in its super compact size. I have included two photos I took with it, one at full size, and one at max zoom.

I love this camera! I’ve been doing photography for a few years now and having a DSLR, I never like to bring it around for family trips or vacations. I wanted this because of its portability. Not only can I just put it in my pocket, the quality is beautiful! Sure you can use the auto setting and still yield quality photography but you have the flexibility to also dial in the camera which is awesome! The built in zoom is amazing and when used properly gives some pretty expressive photo’s I would highly recommend this for everyone. Capturing family moments, traveling, a night out with friends, sports events, anything! It’s less invasive and won’t attract attention while out and about. Sure it’s pricey but I think I’m getting my money worth!

Wonderful little camera. Great for sports and action shots. Quality photos. Short battery life, however, so get an extra battery. Really fast. Freezes the action. I added a plastic grip because it's a bit slippery to hold onto otherwise. Pricey little thing.

I bought this camera to use when walking around and to take with me when I didn’t want a larger camera. My first real test of this camera was at a baseball game which started with sun and finished after dark. During the game I wanted to get the players in action and finally settled on the batters. Once I got the settings right I was able to get many “action” shots where the batter was swinging at the ball. All of the keepers included the ball in the shot including a home run with the ball only a few feet off the bat! The ball was blurred but the batter, the catcher and the umpire were all in focus. I was setting about 200 feet from home plate. Overall very impressed with the results!

I did not realize how much I love this camera. This camera has the technology of the Sony a7. The quality and clarity are absolutely superb especially in this tiny package. I usually shoot with my Panasonic Lumix G7. But when I'm traveling or just want to take something small then the Sony RX100 VI is perfect. With its 1 inch sensor I don't have to sacrifice quality.

I have used the camera primarily outdoors and recently took it on a fly fishing trip to Canada. I used it mostly on the 'auto' settings for both pictures and some video. Results were crisp with good natural color. Battery life was good and it was easy to send the photos to both my iPhone and iPad.

Four stars as this compact is expensive give the price and features offered by competitors. I do like this better than the earlier Sony RX100 models, as it has a longer zoom range so in all it is a more flexible compact camera. It is very compact so it might be hard to stabilize it when hand holding it. I use a table to tripod so if I want to hand hold it I have some way of holding it. Also a handy feature is controlling the shutter with my iphone via a view that the camera has.

Received RX100M6 about two weeks ago. I already own RX100M4, so I was already familiar with the camera operation. I bought the M6 because of the longer reach of the lens. While the M4 is good in low light, it is limited in telephoto reach: 70mm vs. 200mm. The M6 is very quick to turn on and shoot. With the improved pop-up viewfinder, I can turn on camera, click viewfinder tab, and be ready to shoot in 3-4 seconds or less. The M6 also has very fast focus as well, so I can find and focus on a subject quickly, even flying birds. My intent in purchasing the M6 was as a travel camera. I am traveling to Europe late this summer, and I am looking forward to using it there. So, in summary, I have been testing the M6 for about two weeks in preparation for my trip. We will see how it performs, but in view of my tests so far, I think it will work very well.

Expensive but worth it in the long run

This was the most expensive point and shoot camera available, so it took some soul searching and research before I decided to buy it. I have no regrets. I had been a dedicated DSLR user even on vacations, but several professional photographers told me convincingly not to be a slave to a big heavy DSLR while on vacation. Even mirrorless cameras were too big and beyond my needs. Technology has advanced where a point and shoot camera can deliver spectacular results and slip in your pocket when not in use. Why not just use a smart phone camera? Several reasons. The image sensor on the sony is about 3x larger by area. Larger = sharper. The flash is far better than a smart phone. But the most important reason is the zoom. The sony goes from 24-200 and this is all optical. Zooming is essential for creativity and flexibility. Doing selfies with this camera is also far better than with a smart phone. After a week in Amsterdam and Brussels, this camera did not disappoint. I wore shorts and dedicated a pocket for the camera with nothing else in the pocket to potentially scratch it. I would pull it out, shoot and put back. Using this method, turning on and off constantly, which advances and retracts the lens each time, only yielded about 150 shots per battery charge, however I was also viewing them during the day, which uses battery. There is no build in location tagging but you can do it if you turn on the blue tooth and sync it to your phone but I'm sure that will use more battery. Having an extra battery was important. Bestbuy had a bonus with purchase of camera with an extra battery, camera grip and SD card. I opted to buy the separate battery charger since opening the little flap on the camera and plugging the cable into it was a pain. I did not post photos since Bestbuy only allows images to 5mb so the photos would not give you a true sense of the resolution quality. I got this for a trip I was going on, and so far it's been a great camera. I wanted a small point and shooter that had decent zoom, and this fit the bill. It takes great pictures, and I haven't even delved into the settings yet. I was a little worried about the lens compared to the earlier, faster model, but honestly unless you're a professional then I doubt you will care. There aren't a whole lot of options for cameras that are this small, have this amount of zoom, and take as good of pictures as this one. If you have the money, just do it! You'll only cry once, ha! PS. I see that Sony has just announced the Mark VII, so maybe hold off for that one but the newer one seems more geared towards video and vbloggers. If you don't need the better video features then get this model once the inevitable price drop occurs when the VII is released in a few months.

Was so impressed with the original version that after five upgrades to the line i bought the “new” Series VI. So I up an f stop or so but gained over 130mm of reach. It’s little, it’s pocketable, and it’s inconspicuous for street Photography. It does vacation shooting with ease and in the prevailing upgrades it’s image quality has only gotten better. Purchased thru Best Buy I got ours one day prior to the official release date, Sweet. It’s not an inexpensive camera but it just nails it.

Sony has made a great camera with small cosmetic deficiencies. They could have easily attached Sony AGR2 Attachment Grip, but looks like they need additional dollars for that grip. Camera needs little study to use it efficiently and takes little time. I am still learning to use it. I get good zoom range, pocketable size and great features in this camera. It is expensive if you compare with other similar models.

This thing takes amazing videos. Superior quality over canon g7 mk2 and the photos are amazing as well. Sadly ill stick with my dslr, you cant really justify the price point on these things. 4 stars for price and lack of design ergonomics. Would recommend if you can really afford it.

The RX100 lineup are really outstanding cameras. I like the low light capability of the earlier models and had my doubts about the 6 but after using it for less than one month. I find it performs great even in lower light. The outstanding features are the great lens, enough zoom for most situations and good to great video in decent lighting. The camera is solid like all other RX models and the focus is very good. One great complaint is a limited touch screen. The Popup viewfinder is a great bonus over the earlier models. This is a great all around travel camera. The VII is better but too much.

Having previously used the RX100 cameras (II, III, IV) I am quite familiar with the RX100 line of camera. All previous cameras have been good but I always felt that they lacked the zoom range to make them perfect travel companion. RX100 VI fixes this short coming with 24-200 mm zoom range. Though due to longer zoom the lens is not as fast as the previous version so if you shoot a lot in low light previous version will be better but for an all-in-one travel solution RX100 VI is my recommendation. Thank to its fast AF and great burst rate you can use it for action/sports as well.

I’ve owned dozens of cameras - and still own several. From simple point and shoot to professional DSLR and mirror less. This doesn’t replace a pro rig... but for the price, it’s a fantastic camera to keep in your pocket. The impressive optical zoom, great focus ability, superb color rendition, and ease of use make it wonderful. The only ding I would give is I don’t love the menu system - but it’s simple enough.

Still too early to comment if great camera. So far satisfactory and pictures are good. Night pictures are great. Not too satisfied with the zoom. Wish optical zoom was closer to 15x to 20x. Great to have a viewfinder as it would have been impossible to take pictures in bright sunlight without it. Not too satisfied that user guide being online only. It would be much better if a hardcopy of the various functions was included with the camera. While taking pictures one does not have access to online and a pocket book type user guide would be helpful. Battery life is an issue and in th price of the camera (by defaut) should include a 2nd battery. A Camera case should be included in camera price.
