When you set these up, they’re pre-set to whatever the heck they are set up to...forget about all that, connect it/follow the instructions and once you get the app in the PS, just make your own audio setup to make (Hi/Lo/Treble to max) to 1 or 2, 3D audio on and enjoy. These are not going to make the room shake but will block out most, if not, ALL the sound out. Depending what game you play is what will put these bad boys to the test. So don’t expect a free downloadable game to output the same audio you’d get from a up to date brand new game. These do get uncomfortable when you were them for a while so I’m not 100% sure if you can get bigger cushion for the ears. If you can, that might help bring the bass on these (still great with the original). For a headset that was designed for you console, these are great to have if you ain’t trying to spend over $200 (these plus warranty were just below that range). Are they the best? Nah. Are they great? Yup. If you are not making a living off of gaming, don’t look for a higher price/brand then these Platinum models.

These headphones are an upgrade from the gold headset. I love the metal headband instead of the plastic of the gold wireless headset that cracked for me. The sound is great and is comfortable to wear for long periods.

I love the headphones they are great and the bigger drivers really give them the little bit of extra kick I was looking for over the lower end Gold headphones. I do however think they are a Little overpriced. I was expecting more features and quite frankly enough difference between the Golds to justify the extra price and in that sense i was let down. Aside from the slightly bigger 50mm drivers they are essentially the same headphones and worst of all i think the Golds look better. But overall they are very well built and deliver on Sony's heritage of awesome sound.

I purchased a headset about $100 cheaper than means and they were for PS4 they left about three months when I purchased this sad which are use every day because I’m disabled The buttons for on and off audio and chat or easy to access without having to look at the headset when you download the audio sound all outside noise just disappears all you hear is your gameplay along with people that you’re chatting with I would highly recommend this for people of any age and people With hand disabilities and the price is very fair

The 3D surround sound is amazing when it comes to games that have the 3D surround sound in it. They are perfect when playing Rainbow six siege or other games that comparative! Well build quality but it is a little heavy.

Beautiful sound from any use of the system. Playing division 2 and Anthem sound so crisp and clear and the gunplay sounds loud. Also fits perfect when wearing it. Firm cushions that cover entire ear and are noise canceling. I just wish I bought the white one. Lol

Very uncomfortable. Possibly the worst headphone design ever. The top "padding" is only a thick, hard-rubber, band. It is VERY uncomfortable and I can only use it while wearing a hat or beanie. Sound quality is about 3.5/5. If you don't talk to others while playing online, definitely get the SteelSeries Arctis 7. The chat-audio mix doesn't work on PS4, otherwise I would have used those. Also, all the volumes are stupid buttons instead of a wheel or slider. This makes in-game audio adjustments a pain in the butt. You have to click the vol +/- button, it'll boop slightly louder/quieter, and then you can do it again. So to go from 0 to full volume, it takes about 15 seconds (and no volume level is quite right: either it's too loud or too quiet). There are MUCH better headsets for this price. Teribble headset for the price overall, but it does have a chat/audio mix, and I'm honestly surprised this ever even made it to market.

First off, I'm an avid gamer, teetering between casual and hardcore. This headset will be compared to the older (much older) Playstation Gold headset (PS3 7.1 Surround) as that is what i am "upgrading" from. If you have a functioning Gold Headset (either PS3 or PS4) then this headset is not a worthwhile upgrade, but if you don't have one then i do definitely recommend this one. Pro's: - Aesthetically pleasing, an almost timeless design. Although this is subjective. It also doesn't look as bulky and ridiculous as the PS3 Gold's when worn. - The sound quality is a step above the PS3 Gold's, more crisp although not a demonstrative difference. 3D audio is pretty amazing (yet very few games make use of it) - The buttons are slick and take a minute to get used to without having to pull off the headset and look at them. - The over-ear cups drown out any outside noise and feel good on the skin. - The battery life is slightly longer than the PS3 Golds. I'd say 45min to an hour but i have yet to actually test this. - Works for my PC (only Stereo tho) - The range is decent, about 10-15 feet through one wall. Like 5 feet if signal is through two walls. My set up is in the living room and i have no issues grabbing drinks or snacks behind a single wall without any drop in sound connectivity, though the story changes when i go use the bathroom. - Comes in a neat box. I always put my headset back in the box when not in use, I'm definitely not leaving these laying around my house when there are kids running about. Con's: - Needs a dongle to be used (Just like the older iterations) - I'd give comfort a 7/10. There is no real adjustability, the headset just has a "one size fits all" clamp style design. This has been the same design for all the headsets. Over 2 hours of use then i start to get pain on my ears, but just taking it off for a minute or two relieves this. - Gets my ears hot. If it's warm in your room, these will make you sweat. I tend to switch to some skull candy earbuds when this happens. This is a case to case basis i assume. - Price. Good Lord was this thing expensive ($172 US after taxes) I could have spent a bit more and grabbed a pair of used Astro A40's with a mixer for that price. But the Astro's make my ears sweat regardless of the ambient temps. Overall, if you don't already have a headset, these are awesome, a little on the pricey side but if you can get a couple hundred hours of use from them then it's not a big deal. If you already have a headset, either (good) Turtle Beaches, Astro, older PS golds, or any other good sets, just save your money to buy more games.

These are the most comfortable, best sounding, wireless headphones with built in microphone (no boom sticking out)I have tried yet. In the past 20 yrs I have had 5 different sets. The best i had before these also made by Sony many years ago. They were wireless rechargeable also and connected to the TV, the Playstation 3 and/or your bluetooth devices. BUT this Platinum Edition Headset is phenomenal. Extra bass setting and controllable bass, treble, voice, background and in-game effects. There is also a FREE app in the Playstation store that allows you customize the controls even more than you can out-of-the-box and adds a 7.1 Surround Sound mode that is AMAZING!!! They last 6-8 hours on a full charge wirelessly using a micro USB cable from any USB connection and also work with a wired connection with a micro USB cable or a 3.5mm cable. These can connect to any Bluetooth device, television, PS3 or PS4, or PS4 Pro console. I DO NOT REGRET paying the little extra money for a Superior Quality Sony product.

Before these I had PlayStation Gold and these headphones are much better in my opinion. These headphones are MUCH more comfortable and the sound is even more clear. Not to mention, these are MUCH more rugged. The Playstation Gold actually snapped on me when I pulled them apart to put on my head a bit too much. These DO NOT seem as if that will ever happen. I'm not knocking the Gold, however these are such a nice upgrade. The battery life is incredible and the Bluetooth connection is very good. They also seem to charge very fast. Sound clarity is awesome. I play a lot of FPS and I often can hear people trying to sneak up on me in the game. I turn and shoot and Game over :) Now to some small negatives. 1. They are a bit large and somewhat heavy. 2. They are also very hot over your ears after a long game session. 3. The cost. They are a bit on the high side, however I feel they are a value for the overall cost. (They are a premium product) Overall I'd give these a 4.5 stars and if they broke, I'd go buy another pair.

    The Flagship Playstation Headset

I owned the Silver, Original Gold and the New Gold (2018 version) and I can say without a doubt that this is the best headset out of the bunch. I say this because it is the best-designed in terms of style, comfort, and features. Yes, the headset can be a little tight for those with larger heads but it fits perfect on my average-sized head. I can game for 2 hours straight without feeling any discomfort. This is definitely the most comfortable PS headset that I've owned. In terms of performance, this headset is a beast. The sound quality is superb since it features 50mm drivers (compared to 40mm for the other ones) but surprisingly, it isn't as loud as the New Gold headset. The audio also doesn't cut out as much, which was an annoyance on the lower-tier headsets (NOTE: make sure to download the free Headset Companion App from the PS Store. The app can be used to update the headset as well as load custom sound profiles for games, music and movies). The main selling point of this headset is the 3D audio technology and as of right now, only a few games support it such as Uncharted 4, Horizon Zero Dawn, Watchdogs 2 and MLB The Show (Sony promises that more titles will support it in the future). I've only been able to test out this feature with MLB The Show 18' and honestly, I couldn't tell the difference with it on or off but to be fair, 3D audio isn't really suited for sports games. As for style, this headset looks and feels premium. The ear pads are made of thick, plush, memory foam (faux) leather and the headset is reinforced by steel to make it more durable. There is also a rubber band at the top for weight dispersion. Like the Original Gold headset, these can be folded and taken on the go but unlike the OG Gold's, the hinges are a lot thicker and it is reinforced by steel so the chances of it breaking like the old ones are slim. Overall, this is a great gaming headset with unmatched design, features and comfort. It is the flagship Playstation headset for a reason. If you're a PS4 owner looking for the best, look no further. NOTE: I can't comment on the mic quality since I don't game on-line or use it to chat.

I've tried multiple headsets. This one is overall the best experience I've had. I found the Gold series to be uncomfortable. The afterglow headset I had had bad microphone pickups(echos to other people in the same party I was in). These are comfortable, clear, loud. Better battery life, The button placement could be better, and unique shaped buttons for each function would give this a 5 star rating from me. Right now 4 stars in my book. Worth buying
