At first it may seem like a pure port of the first Mario Maker, but it’s improvements definitely make it a worthy sequel.
The additions I love the slopes, the ability to close off sections with a wall so the camera doesn’t go past that wall, the new custom auto scrolling camera allowing you to make scrolling levels that can go up and down and change speed at up to 10 different times during the level, the ability to add conditions to be met such as collect 10 coins before you can finish the level or defeat 3 goombas before the end.
Lastly, the addition of multiplayer online is a fantastic step in the right direction. You can coop or versus random people online. This coop function is something I have waiting for for a long time, something that should be in games such as Mario bros u, DK tropical freeze, and Kirby Star Allies. It’s baffling why Mario bros u lacks online play, but Mario Maker 2 of all things has it.
Notice I call it a step in the right the direction, because it has its flaws. First, there will be lag...sometimes very painful, and my internet is 100 mbits per second, so there is no excuse why this can’t run Smoothly. Also, the inability to play with friends and only randoms in ridiculous to me. I can play with friends and randoms in both Mario kart, smash bros, and splatoon 2...but not this game?!! Why not?
All in all, it’s still a great Mario level editor for all ages, just needs some more updates especially in the online multiplayer area and it will be an easy 10/10 for me.

Very fun game!! You can play by yourself, or online with others. If you want to play someone else’s course, you’ll have to have internet access/membership, though. You can download the courses from others, but I haven’t tried that yet. Also, it’s really fun to build your own courses! It’s not that hard but it’s really fun to come up with new ideas and to play through them, or have your close ones play through then!

Super Mario Maker 2 is an improvement in every single way over its Wii U and 3DS counterpart. Not only are you provided a much more robust assortment of tools and assets to play with, but the game now features a single-player Story Mode, and Co-op and Versus local and online multiplayer games.
Gone is the Wii U Gamepad, which made the original experience that much better, as it featured a very responsive interface, but the Nintendo Switch takes full advantage of the touchscreen, and you can enjoy the same "touch" controls with the use of your Joy-Con while the system is docked and displayed on the TV.
Regardless of your age, Super Mario Maker 2 is a very enjoyable experience.

Super Mario Maker 2.
Creation is in the name, and imagination is the game.
The second installment in the series with all new mechanics to play around with and now includes an all-new 4-player online competitive match making with friends, player-made Mario levels for endless Super Mario fun - imaginations’ the limit!
Also, a 1 player campaign mode - if your seeking a more traditional “Super Mario Bros” game style - and go on a quest to rebuild Princess Peach’s castle as you search for locked items and secret levels; playing all new unique levels made on Super Mario Maker 2 by the makers of Super Mario Maker 2.
A must have as part of the Nintendo Switch library.

When I got the game I had high hopes that it would be good and I was right. On day 4 of owning the game I think I almost played 30hrs on the game. I already have a level that is a very popular level that I created. The game is very addictive and it would most likely take over your day daily which is a great thing. It also makes boredom less likely due to very fun gameplay.

My son says the best thing about Super Mario Maker 2 is he's able to design - and then play on - highly challenging screens, which then helps him to play much better in other Mario-themed games.

Super mario maker 2 is a platformer that all you friends and family can play. The dream that you can make your own mario courses can go with you anytimetime anywhere. SMM2 has a very simmple UI (user interface) to make great levels.

Minutes of fun! I was genuinely captivated for several minutes trying to get this to run on my Xbox one, which my son explained was because this game was meant for a Nintendo switch!
How embarrassing! Anyways, when the game is played on the Nintendo switch, I hear it is a lot of fun.

Got this for my 8 year old with his new switch. Even though he requested this game, it is not one he is interested in playing much. I like that you can play other people’s creations and do multiplayer. However, other creations aren’t quite as satisfying to play as a professionally developed level. I don’t think my son has been able to do much building either. Mario Odyssey and Zelda are definitely better favorites before this game.
