I purchased this item for a couple of reasons - the angle adjustment and extra USB ports. The extra USB ports are nice to have, but the two fans are very noisy. I tried dampening the noise with WD-40 and that only reduced the fan noise a little. So, I keep it unplugged from my computer until I really need to use something that is plugged into the extra ports. When plugged into my laptop, high powered devices do not perform that well. Targus indicates you can purchase the power adapter for this mat, but it is nowhere to be found on their website. I searched and found that a few resellers have it on Amazon. I ended up buying a $10 universal power adapter at Walmart and it works just fine. I was getting tired of plugging and unplugging all of my USB cables every day and night when I leave for and get back from work. So just plugging in a single cable and keeping the others always plugged into the extra ports is convenient. However, if any of those ports need more power for charging devices or operating USB 3.0 peripherals, it needs to be AC powered. Unfortunately, doing that speeds up the fans and increases the noise output. So, the only way to make this Chill Mat useful is to snip the wire connecting the fans. It won't help cool your laptop but it will definitely give you the convenience of the extra ports.

It does the job, but only if the surface is elevated (using the slider on the side), otherwise it still allowed my laptop to overheat. It's not ideal for older or larger laptops as the chill mat is not very big. I haven't really used the USB ports on the chill mat since my laptop has several USB ports as well as I already use a different multi USB port device when needed. I think this particular mat is over priced for its size and function, but for the options of mats available at the particular Best Buy I went to (as well as online, at the time) this was the best option for my computer. The next cheapest option was about $15-$20 more and I was not willing to spend more than $50 for a fan when the previous one I owned was only $20, fit my laptop perfectly, and lasted close to 5 years.

I bought this because my computer is getting warmer when I stress out that 3rd generation i3 chip. Works great as a docking station with its 4 USB hub and it runs quiet. Also vey nice adjustable pad. I like that feature more than I thought I would when I was looking at it at the store.

I always use a cooling pad for my laptop and have never had any issues with over heating. Highly recommend using one of these (though this is my favorite make/model) especially this one due to it's design. It has a lip that keeps your laptop from sliding when it sits up at a high angle.

The laptop stand helps to keep the computer cool and the multiple USB ports are easy to access and use.

I like the way the Chill Mat tilts my laptop toward me and automatically comes on when I turn on my laptop and automatically turns off when I turn off my laptop. The only drawback so far is it is quite loud when I first turn on my laptop for a few seconds, then it quiets down. I believe it is doing the job intended of cooling my laptop.

Though it took Targus an over due laptop cooling pad that has these features, but some of it does need some enhanced stability designs. After customer acquires their tilt angle for the laptop, the locks do have a tendency of failure to stay in the locked position. Their is some bouncing when trying to type, but over all it performs well. The cooling factor is far greater than other Targus laptop cooling pads, and the extra USB connections are nice to have for external HD, and external lites for the keyboard, though my Toshiba Laptop is a 17.5" the Targus cooling Pad is about 1.5" smaller on the sides and 1.0" smaller in the front area of which the Toshiba does have rubber feet to cradle into the rest area of the cooling pad table area...Over all "Yes" I would suggest it to others who are heavy users of their laptops for either schooling (55yrs old DAV Veteran & in College) and regular Hobbyist of Electronics....T...

The Targus - Chill Mat+ Laptop Cooling System with 4-Port USB Hub is great for keeping your laptop cool. The 4 extra usb ports on the back of the chill mat are great for hooking up extra usb devices to your laptop.

The dual fans do a very good job of reducing the heat from my laptop. The addition of 4 USB ports is a great feature! This mat also allows you to adjust the angle of your laptop--very helpful! I should have purchased this chill mat years ago.

I like this chill mat. It lets you keep your laptop cool and able to use in bed or anywhere you'd block the cooling ports. I rated 4 stars as I think the quality is decent but could be a hair better. It could use some more rubber on the mat to keep the pc in place. Otherwise I am pretty happy with it!

This is a great product but it's a little over priced. Sometimes when I'm at my desk, it starts to make a loud sound and I have to pick it up and slam it a little to get the fan to quiet back down, but once I do, it works great. I think the motor should be tweaked if they make another version but all in all, I'm glad I purchased it.

Went into Best Buy looking for a cooling pad. Saw this one, the features it had, and the price. Everything about it has been top quality since I purcashed it. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a cooling pad with a few extras, that put it over the top.

This is a decent 2-fan laptop cooler, however I would not advise anyone else with an HP Omen laptop pick this. The 4 extra USB ports are a good option if you have a lot of attachments to plug in, but I personally don't. The elevating option is nice for extra airflow and a more ergonomic work position, but can feel a little unstable when working in the highest position. Ultimately, the position of the two fans is not compatible with where the bottom air-intake ports are on the HP Omen laptop; Thus, why I don't recommend it for others with this laptop.

This is a great cooling fan and laptop stand combo. Despite the apparent size, the unit is rather light and so transports well in my backpack along with the laptop. The height and angle this achieves is amazing, makes typing much nicer. The only negative I found is the fan is a little loud, and is like having your own "white noise" generator under the laptop. Not a bad thing in a office environment but is noticeable in a normally quiet location. It would have been nice if the manufacture included a on / off switch or a speed regulator for the fan.

I purchased this to try and keep using my old laptop, which overheated often. The fans are not that strong, I had to use this AND have a fan on my laptop still, but maybe at that point I should've bought a new laptop. . . STILL I feel this shold've helped. The angle thing provided space for blasting the bottom with air at least.

Not great value for the price. I would’ve expected the chassis to be constructed of aluminum, instead of plastic, at the $80 asking price. When used with a heavyish gaming laptop, it seems a bit flimsy. Not sure if it will hold up for as much traveling as I do. I would recommend if price point was lower or was constructed of higher quality materials instead of plastic.

Bought the chill mat for my laptop. This computer is my primary, no desktop. Noticed it would get very warm and felt I needed to take precautions to avoid an overheat condition. It keeps the laptop cool but can be a little loud at night. I need to closw the office door to eliminate most of the noise.

As I'm an author and spend at least 8 hours a day on my laptop, I need a cooling pad :-) This one is adjustable plus has extra USB ports--always a plus. Totally pleased with this product!

its not bad for what it is. you can plug it into a wall so you don't use up a usb port but you have to buy the wall plug separate. now and then it will make a loud noise and I have to shake it a little or unplug and plug back in. also seems a little small being it says its for a 17 in. my laptop is a 17 in asus and it goes over all the edges by a lot making it hard to access the usb ports on the back. I got it as it lifts up at an angle and vents from the sides not one that vents from the bottom. so has lots of airflow. over all it does get the job done and it does add a usb hub which comes in handy as I play games with kids like sonic racing that we use controllers on.
