I returned this item. It did extend the range of my wi-if signal, but I was not impressed with the download speeds, which across the 5G band varied dramatically from 100mbpbs to less than 30. I purchased a deco mesh router model W7200 which proved far superior. With the two-unit deco mesh W7200, I got full wi-fi coverage across the entirety of my 2,200 square foot home (and then some-the full signal goes out to the sidewalks around my home). My primary issue was not being able to get coverage in my garage where I have an additional tv. My modem/router couldn’t provide a full signal in the garage despite having a 2,500 square foot range, and I was experiencing occasional buffering when watching sports etc. With the deco mesh tri-band w7200 router I have a full Wifi signal in the garage and 250+mbps download speeds. While I wasn’t happy with the extender, tp-link fortunately, had another product I have been more than pleased with. I think extenders are obsolete at this point, I recommend a mesh router.
Thank you for your review. Please bear in mind, Wi-Fi extenders utilize half-duplex transmission. As a result, throughput when connecting to the extender may be reduced when compared to the router. This is an industry standard for Wi-Fi extenders and is not exclusive to TP-Link.
For the best Wi-Fi experience in your scenario, it sounds like you've already come to the same conclusion that we would've recommended - our Deco Mesh Wi-Fi product line. We're delighted to hear you are more than pleased with your Deco W7200.
Our support team is always happy to help answer any questions you may have about our products. Please feel free to reach out using any of the resources included with the product, or from our official website, and we'll gladly have a Support Agent follow up with you directly.
Thank you, TP-Link Support

Once I got this setup, it has worked great. It is important to plug the item into a power outlet close to your TP-Link router as you are setting it up. I believe it initially connects to the router for the One-Mesh system via bluetooth or something. I tried setting it up in the same room, about 20+ feet away and it didn't work.
Security flaw: wireless login cannot be turned off

Seems to be doing the job and the browser interface (for setup and settings) is self-explanatory.
However, it has a security flaw. The remote login into the extender cannot be turned off. I understand that there are other layers of security (like turn remote login off). However, I like security redundancy and I always disable wireless login on all my routers and extenders.
So I am not saying it's a bad product (hence 4 stars) but I would not recommend it because of this security flaw.

I bought this to work in extender mode which did what it was supposed to do. However, I discovered it also has an AP mode which I ended up using to solve my problem better than AP. I already had a cat6E so I connected it to the AP from my main switch and changed the operation mode of the device to AP after having had the password and ssif set. Easy and works perfectly. I get about 600mbps and my link is 1gbps so I will take it over my previous 30mbps.
Great extender that pairs well with TP-Link router

Very happy with this extender I got to help with coverage the TP-Link Archer 3600 was lacking in. It was not bad but had cut outs from work laptop when at desk. Now with the extender I am able to have calls and do work with no interuptions.

Glad to get this. It solved a problem when my existing whole-house wi-fi stopped extending to an important area of our house. Once I put this extender in the room everything works again.

We were barely getting a signal downstairs before adding this to the mix. Set up took about 5 minutes with clear and concise instructions provided, didn't have to google anything. The house is concrete/brick construction, but the extender provides a full signal on phones/laptops, and the speed of the tv and PS5 has more than tripled. Definitely recommend this item.

Absolutely Awesome!!! The Wi-Fi booster was recommended by one of your customer service team. The set up was simple and started working within a few minutes!
Thank you
