We recently upgraded our cable modem/router and also our internet speed. The wifi extender we had had for years was just not doing the job anymore. Instead of getting a more expensive extender from our cable company we did our research and found the TP-Link extender that would meet our needs, So far it has worked great!

Frankly, I can not speak to this device as a range extender. I can say, however, that I needed a hard-wired ethernet connection to a device about 50 feet and one floor away from my internet modem, and this has worked admirably to serve that purpose.
