I've already reviewed previously but since I kept the TV for reasons I'll explain below, I wanted to give my update. As I mentioned before, there are better alternatives if you have the $$$ but for the price and actual quality, picking this product is a no Brainer. The picture out of the box is OK but you can always calibrate to your liking. I played with the color settings and I'm totally happy with my picture. The black as you've probably heard is the best black aside from an oled TV. Viewing this TV in a dark room is a must. It's amazingly beautiful & I'm just talking about cable/satellite signal. Upconverts quite well. 4K movies are jaw dropping. HDR does work well with this set even though it doesn't have a wide color gamut. I've seen better HDR sets but who wants to spend thousands? This set does its job and does it well. There are only a few HDR content on Netflix and if you've upgraded your acct you'll see "ultra 4k"on them. If you go to Netflix on the included tablet though you can get to see" dolby vision" on certain movies. I picked the Do Over. Looks terrific. I'm not a gamer so I don't have any of the issues most people have when connecting a new Xbox One S & trying to play a UHD game or watch a movie UHD bluray... VUDU has alot of UHD titles but you have to pay premium cost. So to sum up... Looks great. It's definitely a 4K, Has HDR, Dolby Vision, ample hdmi inputs, nice look and nice looking stand. End result : I got it on sale for $797 & I'm very happy.

    M55-D0 4k UHD TV Shadow

I bought the Vizio M55-D0 4K UHDTV. Upon delivery and setting it up, I couldn't get the settings right (or so I thought). I kept noticing a shadow on the lower left hand corner. I did research and found out that the pixels on that quadrant were burned! It's a brand new television set! I called Vizio and they asked me to provide pictures of the shadow as well as the serial number. Upon review, they promptly sent a new one, had it installed and took the damaged one away. This is above and beyond their manufacturers warranty, so I'm pleased! Now the picture is brilliant and vivid as it should have been in the first place. However, I'm more than satisfied with the replacement TV and the picture it displays.

We've had this TV for 6 weeks and it's just great! We got it for our bedroom and these Vizio M-Series TV's are the best! The picture is beautiful, the tablet remote is awesome! And I love that you can cast from any smartphone, tablet, or laptop.

This tv is awesome, with 2180p resolution and HDR the picture quality is great, but the sound can use some amplifying. I use to watch 4K movies and to play on my Xbox One S.

Thoroughly enjoying this Vizio. The picture is amazingly sharp and clear; colors are vibrant. One of the reasons for purchasing it is because a family member bought a Vizio a few years ago, and has been very pleased with its performance and gave a good recommendation. Good value for the price.

I recently bought a New Vizio Smart Tv from BestBuy because my Sharp Aqous had developed Green Pixelated Lines through the picture. I am still learning about the TV since this is my First Smart Tv. One thing I am Not Happy with is that the GeekSquad Tech did Not Bundle all the Cables Neatly as to Not Present Eye sore when looking at the TV itself. Also the Main Remote is an actual small Tablet computer which is a Neat Idea.

I bought my tv a few weeks before Christmas.. I did a lot of research on TVs and brands and I decided that for my price range this was my best option and boy was i right! This tv does everything, and it's fairly easy to work. It is a flat screen so if you want "booming" sound then you will need to buy a sound bar but for me and my son this is perfect.

The Vizio TV was great for several months. Now it's unwatchable. Unfortunately, 3/4 of the screen is now dark. I called Vizio, but since the TV is just barely out of warranty (13 months) there is no support. No grace period. Nothing. Their only offer was a discount on a new TV. I've learned my lesson. Do not buy Vizio. Ever. With a little research I now know that Vizio sells "disposable" TVs. They're not cheap -- this was almost $1,000 and very much in line with competitor's prices. If i can help anyone to avoid purchasing there products I will feel some vindication.

    Vizio M-Series with SmartCast

I have been a fan of Samsung televisions for the longest time but after a recent issue with a 2.5 year plasma where the cost to repair was as much as I paid for the TV I decided to research another brand. In the end it came down to either an LG or Vizio. I choose Vizio based on the many positive reviews I read. So far I have been happy with my choice. The picture quality of the M-Series is very good, though I must admit, even with HDR, not as dynamic as my Samsung 4K set in my living room. Set up was a breeze. I had read that some had issues connecting the M-Series to their home network and a harder time using the included Android tablet. I did not have any problems. SmartCast replaces apps on the SmartTV by streaming content from the Android tablet (or other mobile device if you choose to download the Vizio App) to the TV. It works most of the time. I have had Netflix content freeze causing me to restart the app on the tablet. Also, the buffering of content may cause a muddiness to the picture for a few seconds before you receive a clear HD or 4K picture. I can not speak of the sound quality as I use a surround sound system. Video games look great and live sports (just watched the Summer Games) were impressive. All in all, I have been very satisfied and would easily recommend.

I love my TV. You have to know what you're getting into though. This TV isn't for someone who isn't at least a little technologically savvy or willing to learn. I managed to teach my mom to use it pretty quickly and she isn't too great with technology so it's not hard. It's not a TV per se, but a monitor that you can chromecast things to. I am a cordcutter so for me it's great. I cast all my streaming services from the tablet included, from my phone, and my laptop using Google chromecast. If you just use cable, I imagine it would function like any other tv and you wouldn't notice an issue. I did have to buy a converter box to use an antenna though for local channels. If you're a gamer, this TV is awesome. It's not too expensive and runs my Xbox One games beautifully with minimal lag when in game mode. The TV is worth the price and probably more to be honest. It has HDR which I'm hoping to utilize when I'm upgrade to the new Xbox One but as of now I can't tell you for certain if it works with it or not.

This 2016 M-Series is a great value if you can still find it. Beautiful picture, though I recommend jacking up the brightness to 100% in well-lit rooms. Far off-angle viewing isn't great compared to the Vizio plasma this replaced, but that's doesn't bother me. The android tablet that you use for chromecasting and setup is a nice touch if you're tech-savvy enough to use it. There is a similar app for iPhone, if you prefer to use that to navigate/chromecast. I can confirm that Netflix, YouTube, and HBO Go work just fine. Amazon Prime Video does not, nor can you chromecast from a DLNA home server without paying for a chromecasting app (I use my PS4 so I didn't bother, but FileBrowser for iOS worked great in demo mode.) Supposedly Vizio will be doing a major software upgrade this year to move the app interface on-screen like most smart TVs have, but it hasn't been pushed yet. In case you're wondering, you can use the TV's USB port to power the android tablet's charging cradle.

This TV has been amazing in every way except for one. Great picture quality, beautiful colors, (can’t really speak to sound as we are using a sound bar), and works great with all the different things we have connected - 4K Roku, Blu-Ray Player, etc. The one gripe is the tablet remote. It is constantly losing connection to the TV and is very clunky!

Overall its a good 4k TV for the price. I didn't like the Chromcast experience and would rather just have it built into the TV instead of having to use a tablet to stream to the TV. The TV doesn't have the best refresh rates, so I don't recommend it for high end gaming, but for console gaming its just fine. The picture took very little to adjust and its a crisp, bright picture. There are better screens out there but not at the ~$700 price.

I purchased this TV as I was looking for an HDR TV. There are multiple types of HDR and this TV supports both. That was my determining factor. The picture isn't quite as bright as some of the Sony/Samsung HDR TV's that I looked at, but those do not support both types of HDR. This has built in Google Cast /ChromeCast support and that is really nice. It also comes with a tablet remote. The remote is essentially a cheap android phone (minus the phone). You can easily do the same things with your cell phone. It also comes wit a very basic remote. Overall I am really pleased with the unit. I did have trouble with the TV losing connection and not being able to "cast" from Netlfix or anything else. Vizio had me reset the TV and we have been good to go since then. This TV does not include a tuner, so you will need a cable box or something like that to watch TV. This is essentially a computer monitor. You should consider that before buying. Also, WatchESPN does not cast at the moment. I am not sure why. I think the app may need to be updated, but for now it doesn't work.

    Ok tv, bad viewing angles.

If you are viewing this TV directly from the front its a good TV, but if you are moving around the room much i would consider a different model. Not only do the colors shift quite fast off angle, but blooming appears as well (pics below). The best part of the TV is the interface, i know its a preference thing but i love chromecast functionality and this is the same thing with 4k capability. I never opened the tablet, im just using my android phone with the vizio smart cast app installed. Remember guys the smart cast app is basically only there for fine tuning settings, i highly recommend if you get this TV to just use the standalone apps for casting (netflix, youtube, hulu etc). The speakers are barely acceptable, if you get this TV home and are wondering why its so quiet you need to turn on "volume leveling" in the settings, this boosts dialogue volume quite a bit. Its fine for a bedroom, but it will 100% need a soundbar in a normal sized living room imo. If you are sure you are going to be doing the vast majority of your viewing straight on this TV is worth saving 300 dollars from the P series it has very similar black levels straight on. Pics below are netflix casting screen, first one is from an angle second one is straight on (of course with active LED's enabled in both shots). Its really fascinating how bad the blooming is from an angle but disappears when viewed straight on, the P55 i owned prior did not have this issue.

I was able to get this TV on sale before the 2017 models hit the store. This was a perfect option to upgrade to since I was in the market for a TV and I wanted 4k. This model did receive an update for HDR support that you will need an active internet connection to download. HDR is High Dynamic Range for colors. The most drastically noticeable jump is with certain HDR compatible games. I tried it with Horizon Zero Dawn for the PS4. At first glance, it may appear to make the image look worse by muting the colors, but after hours of comparisons (I know, geek right?) I felt like HDR looks a lot better. It is supposed to imitate more accurate colors, so it made the game look less "cartoony." That being said, HDR is not for everyone, and this model did get a lower HDR score compared to other brands. However, the standard benchmark for HDR is new and not very accurate. Even "low scored" HDR typically looks better than "standard" color options in my opinion. But as a whole, there are some cons: 1) This is not a "true" Smart TV. It uses a tablet to control the downloading and using of apps, in-depth option adjustments, etc. I personally like it. I use modern game systems that have more features than most smart TVs so this didn't bother me. I also like that you can treat the tablet like a separate viewing device and it runs on the Android operating system. So for me, it was like getting a Kindle Fire HD bundled in. It has speakers and a headphone jack. There is also a barebones remote that I find myself using to power on the device and change inputs because it is quicker. 2) Vizio specific features. The active zones sound good in theory but they look like garbage (I don't even think the P series' 64+ zones would look that good either). Do yourself a favor and disable it. Which segues into my next point: 3) Not user-friendly. Read this carefully... if you have to have a family member set up your electronics for you, don't get this TV! Unless they are willing to set this up for you as well. To get the very most out of this product you WILL have to go in and tweak the picture settings, disable certain features, enable others, etc. A quick Google search led me to a site that gave a specs breakdown for optimizing your picture quality. It went more in-depth than I even cared, but after following it step-by-step my picture looks phenomenal. However, each person will have a different opinion of what looks good. I like my movies to replicate the darker tones of a movie theater but that doesn't look good for gaming. I have multiple picture profiles saved so I can switch to them easily. You can name your inputs, but BEWARE - there is currently no way to delete an input after you create it. The best I could do was just rename it BLANK and skip it as I cycle through my inputs. If you don't get anything else out of this lengthy review, remember this: This TV is one of the best for gaming in general and performs admirably with 4k and HDR content. There is a gaming mode option that when enabled reduces latency to a mere 18 milliseconds. Not many 4K TVs are that low, especially for under $1000. Latency is the delay between what is going on with your game VS what you see on your TV. On fast twitch reaction games like Call of Duty anything over 50ms and you will be at a disadvantage. It is not uncommon for a 4K TV to have a 150ms or more delay, making gaming disadvantages very noticeable. For perspective, there are 1000ms in a second. That makes all reactions 15% slower than they should be. Trust me, that's a big deal, and I don't even play Call of Duty. Overall, I use this as my main TV to play games, watch Blurays, stream shows like Game of Thrones, and I'm very happy with it. I even have my gaming PC hooked up to it and it's awesome! It's the right size for me, but you may want to go a size or two bigger because that's just awesome too!

Most things about this TV are perfect. I'm impressed by the picture - the quality, the black levels, the colors in HDR and even without... I really only have 2 complaints - the tablet and the speakers. I like the idea of a tablet as the main remote a lot and the execution is usually decent but it's not without its issues. It sometimes loses connectivity to the TV and will show as off even though it's on. The only way I've found to resolve it is to turn it off with the other remote, then turn it back on with the tablet. Sometimes casting can be a pain too. Since the tablet isn't very big it's sometimes difficult to be precise when trying to select something to cast. All in all, it's not enough to make me want to take it back, not even close, but I am considering invested in a larger tablet in hopes that it will be easier to use when casting, though I don't expect it to help with connectivity at all. The speakers are pretty terrible. You can't really expect all the much anymore since TVs are so thin; it really limits the speaker size. That being said, I've certainly had better sounding speakers in smaller, thinner, and cheaper TVs. I bought a sound bar a day later so that isn't an issue anymore, prepare yourself for that though because you'll probably want one too...

After having a Samsung plasma that died in 3 years, I was in the market for a new TV. While there isn't a ton of 4K content available figured if I can kind of future proof myself without having to break the bank then why not. After researching Vizo Tv's and reading a ton of reviews I settle on this TV mainly for the price when compared to Samsung and LG models in a similar size. I have to say this TV does not disappoint. The picture is sharp and bright the few things I have watched in 4K have been stunning. The ability to cast and have a tablet as a remote is a pretty cool notion but takes a min to get used to, but once you do its pretty awesome to use it or even better your phone to just stream Netflix or watch Espn to your TV. It's actually pretty seamless. I am very happy with my purchase and would definitely recommend it to anyone in the market for a new TV who doesn't want to break the bank but would like a great picture with some cool extras and 4K with HDR.
