    Big Step Backward From Past P-Series Models

    Love the new price point on this year's models, but sadly, performance and QA have taken a major hit. Having used both a 2014 P55 and a 2016 P65 previously and quite liked them, my P55 in comparison suffers from some major issues, including significant edge-clouding and backlight bleed, extremely noticeable local-dimming, and HDMI issues. Edge clouding and bleed results in noticeably dull colors and increased black levels around the edges of the set (up to a about a foot into the screen on each edge), while the the dramatic cut in local dimming zones (about half of last year's models) results in much less effective local dimming, and very obvious zone switching (you can occasionally also see the actual LEDs in certain bright white scenes). The new God of War in HDR mode looks terrible with local dimming on, with very obvious zone switching and flashlighting as you pan the camera around. The first HDMI port also appears to have issues with HDR content, occasionally losing picture and requiring a reboot. Though far less of an issue, the built in apps are also rather sluggish. Given the more positive reviews below, I'm assuming my set is defective, but given the overall cuts in performance to this years' sets, I'll be switching to a different brand. Big disappointment from a prior fan of Vizio TVs!

    Beautiful set.....when it works

    As stated in the above title, this set is beautiful when it functions. I purchased this set as an upgrade to an older Vizio, but unfortunately the set stopped functioning properly not even 24 hours after buying it brand new OOB. Graphical artifacts began to show (what appears to be random lines of pixels flickering white randomly on the display) followed by complete graphical failure (attached picture) forcing the set to reboot itself. After reboot, the TV functions again properly for a few minutes until the pattern repeats itself. None of the suggested fixes (power cycling, etc) solved the issue. After scouring the internet, this is apparently a widespread issue with the P-Series sets. As of this review, I have contacted Vizio's support, who was very quick and helpful, and already have a replacement set on the way. Would I still recommend this set? Despite the graphical issue, yes. Best looking set for the price anywhere, and a significant upgrade especially for you gamers (X1X) and sports people (watching hockey on this set is gorgeous). However, make sure to KEEP YOUR RECEIPT for warranty replacement purposes should you need it. However, this review will remain 1 star until I can get a properly functioning set.

    Absolute headache! Not the tv for you

    I had high hopes for this! This tv has the best bang for you buck when it comes to color and zones... but renders itself useless with its sub-par processing and software! I have had to return two of these! The first one decided it would just crash when ever it wanted right in the middle of streaming a show or watching a movie.. now this second one after working fine decided it doesn’t want to work for casting. “SmartCast Tv not available” is all the info it gives and directs you to the website.. which only tells you to power cycle and reset your router.. nothing worked.. soft power cycle nothing, completely unplugged and power cycle nothing... reset router nothing (btw internet works fine to type this review!!!).. if you don’t know this TVs remote has no letter buttons so inputting your log in details for apps like Netflix or YouTube is an unbelievably ancient and slow process! It is literally hair pulling if you type in a wrong password and entering all the apps log in details will take at the very least 20-30 mins. Now with that said the LAST thing you want to be told to do is to do a factory reset! And then do it and it still be broke except now you have to enter ALL your info AGAIN! Save yourself an absolute nightmare, spend the extra $100, and buy the Sony!

    Do NOT Buy A Vizio!!!!!!!

    I have never witnessed a television break down in the manner this Vizio did!! Had the tv for about two years, and suddenly half of the screen has a large shadow over the right side of it! Can barely see a thing on the right side of the screen!! Of course, the warranty has expired, and it's a problem that can't be repaired. And when calling Vizio's customer service, they were not helpful whatsoever, and were quick to suggest you buy another one off their tvs. Basically, $800.00 plus down the drain for a tv. Not to mention, there were times the tv would shut off for no reason! You would be better off buying a pair of binoculars and watching tv from outside your neighbor's house than purchasing this set. DON'T DO IT!!!

    falls short of expectations

    After reading reviews and previous experience with vizio tvs I was expecting something much better. The bottom left corner backlight seems to be brighter then the rest of the set and the back light seems to lag behind the image in panning images which results in a flicker . it's even toticable when playing the on board store demo. With videos with lighter tones this issue is even more prevalent and a noticeable dirty scree effect with panning images. when runningetting the local dimming test used by RTINGS the separation between zones is extremely noticeable and a dark vertical is noticeably present resulting in more flashing. bloom is also very bad. was very excited at the price point of this TV but wish I had my old m50 back. i should note that I have already exchanged this model unit for another which displayed similar issues.

    Terrible TV

    Prior to buying this TV, I reviewed several different makes and models and chose this TV because I have always enjoyed the picture quality of a Vizio. When I was reading the reviews I tried to overlook the negative reviews because it seemed that the positive ones outweighed the negative ones. The TV worked great for a bout 3 weeks then went downhill from there. The HDMI ports started to not recognize the input that was connected. I tried everything from switching around HDMI cables to purchasing new ones. Shortly after that, the TV started shooting lines across it even after a "hard reset". I contacted Vizio customer support and they were of no help other than telling me they needed pictures, and videos of the TV as this was going on. Needless to say, I will not buy another Vizio TV.

    The E=Series I had before has darker blacks. There is a massive cloud of backlights that appears, on then off again, like a slow flickering while a movie plays. There is backlight bleeding, blooming and banding. The software is slow. The Smartcast doesn't work. The HDMI ports never recognize what is plugged into them and so you have to unplug the HDMI cable then plug it back in for your component to be recognized. last but not least... just as the Best Buy return expired... a huge red bar appeared in the middle of the television and the only fix was a factory reset. After a factory reset comes the slow grueling process of re-entering all the sign-in information for VUDU, NETFLIX, AMAZON PRIME etc. This TV sucks!

    Don't buy this

    The picture on this TV is pretty decent, despite having a few minor issues with textures in dark scenes. Unfortunately, this model has numerous reported complaints (check reddit, I wish that I had before I bought and mounted this TV) where the video will freeze while the audio keeps playing. I've had this happen many times now, both while using a streaming stick and a PS4, I've tried switching HDMI inputs and cables, all to no avail. I would definitely not recommend that anyone purchase this TV until/unless Vizio issues a firmware update which addresses this issue.

    I brought this tv in July 2018.. it was good till last week. I started getting msg smart cast is updating plz wait and got stuck there .. I had to restart tv sometimes restart work will work. Sometimes it won’t .. I connected w/ customer they asked me to admin reset it works once but I had to do evarytime I restart . Thy are telling that it may be network issue then I contacted network providers they seems OK. Not sure what went wrong .. I really started hating this tv .. very bad experience.. I could have gone to Sony for the same price

    no real USB support

    This TV looks great, but it's going back to the store because it has no real USB support: will only play mp4 files from a stick, but will NOT play standard .srt subtitle files from the same stick. Also, if you stop watching a file in the middle, you're unable to resume from where you've stopped; you must remember where you've stopped and fast-forward to your stopping place (and fast-forward on this TV is painfully slow!). What a shame, as the TV looks great, and these would be easy fixes via a firmware release. What were they thinking!?

    Broken after only 5 months

    The tv has blacklight issues after only 5 months. There is a large black spot that shows up on light backgrounds. And Vizio customer service is terrible. After 90 days they only replace them with refurbished TVs even though under the year warranty. Already contacted them three times and to get the replacement you have to agree to a refurbished one, it is the only way they will service it. Never buying Vizio again.

    This tv has a history of malfuntions.During use the tv shuts itself off(or crashes), then turns itself back on. It happens frequently while watching movies. When streaming it freezes and crashes. I have tried to make it work, this tv has a known history,just look it up on youtube. Had i known this product was defective i would have bought a different make. I hate this tv. Never had a tv with so many problems. This tv has cost me much time and money.

    Black screen with blurry white images

    Bought TV on 1/26/19. Worked that day. We turned it on morning of 1/27/19, nothing but a black screen and blurry white images in the background. I will coming to the store and getting a refund on this item when your store opens at 11 am 1/27. I noticed quite a few people have had this issue with this brand and series online now. Very disappointed with Visio. I will be getting a different brand.

    We are very disappointed with this purchase. The network connection fails repeatedly on the TV so shows/videos we are watching are constantly interrupted. I can turn on another device in the same room and have flawless streaming (iPad/iPhone) so do not think this is an internet provider problem. Would have returned product but only really began to see issue after 15-day return policy passed.

    Bad HDMI 1 Port

    I and others have had issues with HDMI port 1 not passing through a 4K HDR 60hz signal when connected to certain receivers and consoles. Even replacing all my cables to high speed certified HDMI cables did not alleviate the issue. Vizio insists the user is at fault. I will look to another brand for my next TV purchase.

    Horizontal white lines

    Horizontal white lines during playback when using firestick and fire tv. Does not matter what streaming service, all are affected. Contacted Vizio customer service and hopefully they have a fix. Didnt notice the problem till after return date expired. This is unacceptable.

    Great picture. Was awesome streaming ultra HD. After 2 days, tv kept blacking out, resetting itself, and refusing to turn on. After 2 days. Went to return it and was told it was out of Best Buy's system after only being out for 2 mos. Wish it worked.

    Very bad sound. The whole platform looks like it was thrown together, doesn't flow at all. Bought this to replace a Samsung, needless to say I bought another Samsung when this was returned. All in all good picture but just didn't "wow" me.
