It’s a bit overkill, and there’s not much difference in performance for most tasks, but it’s currently one of the top storage solutions available, with the added benefit of a very large capacity.

S.M.A.R.T code popped up and is stuck in read only, thankfully the self protection in the drive made it so im able to back up any data on the drive but failing after only 11TB writes and 28TB reads is pretty annoying. Worked great while it was usable

Smooth Upgrade - 4× 8TB WD Black in RAID 0

Upgraded from a 4×4TB Crucial MX500 RAID 0 array (which was solid in its own right) to four 8TB WD Black SN850s in a RAID 0 configuration for a 32TB setup. The goal was to move away from SATA III bottlenecks—and mission accomplished. Load times are noticeably faster, and shader caching is instant across all titles. No stuttering before, but now everything feels even more seamless and snappy.
Setup was clean, drives run cool, and the capacity bump is a huge win. If you're transitioning from SATA to NVMe for gaming installs and live play, this setup delivers real-world gains without compromise.

SN850X performs well. I was considering a gen 5, but after reviewing the overall average speed, I felt a 8TB gen 4 was better value than a 4TB Gen 5. Yaay, with 8TB of storage, there is no longer a need to content back and forth between HDD and SDD to manage space!

Switched from HDD to NVME and it gave my computer a longer lifespan in usage especially with 8TB of storage. This purchase was the best thing I could’ve done as a music producer, photographer, and videographer.

This NVMe was installed in an Acasis Thunderbolt 5 enclosure attached to a Mac Studio M4 Max. It runs at around 6,000mbps without any issues. A great alternative to the costly storage feed Apple charges, and no doubt would also perform well in a PC enclosure. Highly recommended.

I love the amount of storage on this nvme!!! I can finally install my entire Steam library! I love how fast I can install and move around files as well. I recommend if you need a lot of storage without breaking the bank buying a gen 5 nvme that is overkill for gaming. I highly recommend!

Really nice hard drive. Using it in my Asus Rog Ally X without any issues and so far works pretty flawlessly. I have erased windows, installed bazzite, then back to windows. This has been a very stable drive.
