Keeps all your computer files backed up. Good support from Western Digital and from Geek Squad. Gives you Peace of mind when you purchase a new computer that all your data, emails, pictures, etc. can be transferred to your new device without losing your important files.

This is a great storage device for the Xbox 1. This made my sons life infinitely better, as he could no longer use his Xbox 1 due to lack of space. We took it out of the box, plugged it in and voilá! Couldn't have been easier, just remember to set it as your primary storage. Has to stand up.

I needed an external hard drive for my Xbox One and this one worked out very well. This is definitely needed when loading a game such as Elder Scrolls Online, and you already have 5 or more games loaded on the internal hard drive. Once you plug the hard drive into the console, the Xbox One will recognize it and step you through the process of formatting the drive and moving the game files from the internal drive to the external drive. The games will play just like they do when they are on the internal drive.

I have never had an external hard drive. While this was very confusing at first printing out the User's Manual made it very easy to setup and use this device. For the price I feel that it is awesome! It is about the size of a paperback novel, quiet and takes up very little space, making it very useful in my RV which is limited on space. I have a laptop and wanted a way to backup all my files and system that would not expose me to hacking. I can simply block access or (which I prefer) simply disconnect it from my laptop while on the internet.

I am happy with every possible thing about this drive. Easy setup & registration. Small footprint. Far, far more than enough storage for my needs. Excellent regular price, made better because it was sale when I bought it. All in all, very satisfied.

A Great Hard Drive For Large Amounts Of Data

I purchased this 3TB My Book hard drive as a second backup drive for my other 3TB drive which is the My Cloud by WD. I attach this drive directly to the back of the My Cloud with the supplied USB 3.0 cable. I have always trusted WD over many years to be reliable. I had several failures with other drives over the years, but all my WD drives have never failed. I trust this product to store many valuable photos and files. With this drive I now have all data in three locations for extra protection against any hard drive failures. The look is nice, seems well made and it was a snap to unbox and set up. I would very highly recommend this drive to anyone looking for large, reliable storage.

    Great Choice For External Storage

I needed to up my external storage to 3TB and this drive was the perfect solution. After doing a bit of research it was generally indicated that Western Digital drives are among the lowest in failure rates. That was a key point in deciding which drive to purchase. After installation I was pleased to see that it's exceptionally quiet. My previous 2TB Iomega external HDD did a decent job but made lots of noise during data transfers and indexing. The drive includes security and backup software which I opted not to use so I can't comment on that. Generally this WD unit can be found on sale at the same price point as the competition. Very satisfied!

The WD My Book is an excellent storage device. With a quick and easy installation for Mac, the device sits on my desk and is incredibly quiet. It has a sleek and clean design and does not take up much space. After my computer crashed, I purchased a new hard drive from Best Buy and had my computer restored. Afterwards, I then purchased the WD My Book, per recommendation of a former Geek Squad employee/friend, and it's been great for security, backing up all of my large files, photographs, music, and documents. The price was fair for the capacity of storage the device allots. I'd recommend this external hard drive for your backing up needs.

The WD MyBook 3 Terabyte drive is an excellent choice for backing up your data. It has plenty of room for multiple backups of a typical computer. The speed when connecting to a USB 3.0 port make for much faster backups that using 2.0 USB ports. Simple to connect to your PC. It contains some basic backup software to backup your data. The only drawback is some PC's may require downloading the SES Device driver at http://support.wdc.com/product/download.asp?level1=1&lang=en Other than that it is an excellent choice for external backups and storage.

I had to replace an older WD My Book that ran out of storage capacity. I was very happy with the performance of the old one so I bought the same one again with more capacity. It is user friendly and easy to install.

This external hard drive is the perfect and ideal item to expand the memory of your Xbox One. I purchased it on sale for $89, and for 3TB, that's a massive steal. They also provide a 2TB version, normally priced at $99 which is a great deal as well. Super simple set up and activiation - simply plug it into your computer via USB, allow it to format, and then plug it into your Xbox One. It will recognize it and you will be able to transfer data back and forth with ease.

3TB of Storage, USB 3.0 Speedy Transfers

For PC's, you need to be using a newer OS, Vista, Win 7 or Win 8. I made the mistake of trying to use it with an XP machine without native USB3.0 and the machine didn't see it or the data I had on it....MY BAD!. I have purchased 5 of these Western Digital 3 TB USB 3.0 External drives over the last 2+ years for data backup. I don't use the included software, so I won't comment on it other than I delete it from the drive to free up some more space. First off, It's quiet. The computers around it are always louder than the working drives. Second, the speed of data transfers using USB 3.0. It's over double the speed of USB 2.0, and almost as fast as Sata 2.0 speeds, close to 3 TB a minute. But if you have lots of data, it will still take you hours not minutes to copy or move lots of files to it. I was surprised to find that if you can also plug in a USB 2.0 cable to it and it powers up and works, however data transfers are not as fast, less than half of USB 3.0, about 1.2 TB per min. But hey....it works. I've bought spare USB 3.0 cables to have on hand. The 3 TB worth of space is a great value, costing less than $50 dollars US per TB for external hard drive storage that's portable. I put them on a laptop fan base to help with cooling. A cool drive is a happy drive... Having drives plugged into a UPS backup power solution when operating is almost a necessity for good data storage too.

These are great if you have a Mac and use Time Machine. I picked up two of these so I can keep one at home and one at work and not have to worry about carrying a portable drive with me. Really easy to use and set up. You will have to format it for a Mac out of the box, but that doesn't take much time. With it being a Western Digital hard drive, you know you are getting quality. I have had many Western Digital drives over the years and haven't had a problem with any of them.
