    Whirlpool does NOT keep foods frozen

    I purchased model #WZF79R20DW00 Whirlpool Upright Freezer from Best Buy and it started having temperature control problems just one week before the manufacturer’s one year warranty expired. I contacted Whirlpool to repair the unit and instead received 11 months of problems! Whirlpool’s response has been terrible: only 1 authorized repair company in New Jersey and a 3 week minimum to get a service appointment. They recently admitted that “my freezer unit should be scrapped” and are offering that “I can PURCHASE the same model at a discounted price.” Now, my freezer is not even 2 years old and is trash. I have lost my purchase price, over $1000 in spoiled foods, days off work,and countless hours on the phone. And, I still do not have a working freezer! I STRONGLY RECOMMEND that BEST BUY cancel Upright Freezer contracts with Whirlpool, Maytag, KitchenAid, and Amana. These freezers are all produced by the same company and apparently there's a known flaw with the temp unit malfunctioning and causing food loss. I've had many positive experiences with Best Buy, but thought you should know how your partner, Whirlpool, has treated your customer.

    This was a replacement freezer for one that was 16 years old. I had size limitations because it had to fit in the same spot as the old freezer. I looked online and this one met my requirements and was being sold at a decent price. Contrary to what some others wrote in the reviews of this freezer, Best Buy delivered it, plugged it in and it has been working like a charm. (For those of you who are too young for that expression, it means that it is working well.) There is enough interior space to fit all the food that was in the last freezer, which was about the same size. It's not too deep, so that a person under 5 foot tall wouldn't be able to reach just about everything in the freezer. It's not fancy, but it does the job.

    There is nothing to complain about with this freezer. This is a newer generation of the one we had before; having digital controls rather than the manual knob. The last one lasted over 10 years and would have lasted longer if we hadn't over stuffed it and the door popped open while we were on a two-week vacation. It recovered from that event but finally gave out when we left it open overnight. The new freezer has slightly smaller external measurements but is roomier inside due to the ergonomic layout of the door shelves and thinner inner walls. It is energy efficient rated. This unit gives a lot of bang for the buck.

    I couldn't reach the bottom of my old chest freezer an we decided to purchase an upright Freezer. I examined lots and lots on-line, reading about the features, etc. My biggest concern was the way you could store the food inside. I found this Whirlpool and it had two baskets & four shelves plus LED interior light. It is fantastic to open the door and reach in grab the item I want (without getting hit on the head with the lid to the chest) and gently close the door and walk away. It is so easy to see the items, no searching through a jumbled mess. Never will I use a chest freezer again.

    This freezer was a disaster for us. Bought it for a brand new home and 2 weeks after buying we found out that it stopped working leaving behind spoiled food and a nauseating smell. Best Buy was awesome and replaced it. Within 2 weeks I went downstairs for a pizza and found a full freezer starting to thaw. Luckily I called family for a spare freezer or hundreds of dollars were going to be lost. Best Buy is awesome again and is now bringing us a frigidaire to replace this whirlpool freezer. Hopefully third time will be a charm

    I took a 30 year old GE freezer out of service in an attempt to avoid a failure. Bought a new Whilrpool after 2 weeks, IT DEID and took 2700.00 worth of food with it. Best thing Whirlpool could tell me is they could send me a service man in 6 days and they made a point that "WHIRLPOOL IS NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR SPOILED FOOD" She said it 4x. So if you want dependable, buy a quality name, not Whirlpool!

    I am replacing a 16 year old Whirlpool 20.3 freezer.. I like the quick freeze, the temperature alarm( which I had on my prior freezer) that saved me from losing food by letting me know the temp had risen. Wish they made a 20.3 with these same features. It has a lot of storage, racks adjust easily, does what it is suppose to do. WIsh it had a little light on the front, so you know it is running. Extremely quiet

    Nice freezer, good space and works great. One note, the unit did show up without a door handle. Not sure if the manufacturer forgot to pack it or the delivery guys left it somewhere. Best Buy did get us a new handle and I put it on with no problem. Actually the freezer is so good it was hard to open without a handle due to the vacuum created inside the freezer to keep a good seal.

    Service was outstanding! First the help we received in the store was great. The delivery team, Eric and Mike, were outstanding! Polite, fast and careful of our home and possessions. The removal of our old chest style freezer from a difficult location in our home was accomplished competently, cheerfully and safely. Sorry. There is simply no room for improvement here!!

    I looked for a couple weeks for a new freezer. This freezer has everything you would want. Good size, 4 shelves, 2 slide out baskets and door storage. Also has temperature alarm and key for security/safety. I don't think you will find anything better for the price. Placement is in my garage and it holds the temperature very well.

    This is an excellent freezer, value for the money. Just beware the price for this model can fluctuate between $100-200 depending on the retailer. So, it pays to shop around. Excellent features from the fast freeze, interior light, movable door shelves, etc. Definitely would recommend this freezer...Whirlpool is a world renown company. Best Buy price matches and provides excellent service.

    Freezer is great. However, there are a few things that could be improved. The vent system going up the back of the unit (on the inside) needs to be placed some other way so they are not so easy to block. We also had a problem with the seal around the door coming unglued. I pushed it back in place, but have not had a chance to contact Best Buy or Whirlpool about it.

    Installed and set up quickly. Plenty more of space for food. Fast freeze feature is great. Appears to have a vacuum when you shut the door so it closes securely. The temperature alarm is nice but mine beeps 1 or twice every 30 minutes to an hour. Called whirlpool customer service and they as to reset freezer by unplugging it and it would fix the problem. It didn't. Freezer staying at proper temp.

    Got this to replace an older stand up chest freezer that died. Overall it’s everthing I expected and for the last 2 months I’ve had it, no issues. The temp alarm is a nice feature but I was thinking it would be a loud alarm you would hear, instead it’s a light that flickers red inside the chest, which is less helpful. It can be locked if that’s useful to some. Best Buy delivery was A+

    The first freezer I received had a problem. It was replaced and the second on is working wonderfully well. I have used Whirlpool appliances for many years and was surprised with the problem with the first one received. But then I remembered that this is the first time I have ever had any problem with one of them. So I requested a replacement. I am happy with it.

    I loved the features and size of this freezer. We also love Whirlpool products, but not this one. Only 6 weeks in and it couldn't get colder than 38 degrees. I knew that if it went out that early, it had the high potential to be a lemon. I didn't want to risk losing more food, so we inquired about returning it. Thankfully, we were able to.

    We've had it three months now. It does what it's supposed to; keeps my food frozen! Since it seemed as if we never had enough freezer storage, we decided to buy a separate freezer. We didn't want a chest freezer due to having to (practically) remove everything just to get to the items at the bottom. This upright freezer has been great!

    This freezer seems to "fit the bill". It is spacious, and I like that I can switch the door from left or right swing. I have only been using this freezer a short time, so its lifespan will be the key to being 5 star. Note: Appliance repairman is the one who recommended Whirlpool brand, based on his experience. said they were 'well built'.

    Had to replace our 30+ yr old freezer but had to order one as no one carries standups in stock. No problem. But we did not get it as promised due to delivery person not getting there when promised. When we finally were able to talk to him, said it would be much later than promised the day we spent waiting. Rescheduled and finally got it. Product is good so far.

    We replaced an old freezer that was not frost-free. What a nice change. The center of the freezer is well organized - shelves and basket are very convenient. Door storage is pretty good except of the lower part of the door. No much fits there. Really like the lock but the alarm for temperature is pretty quiet. If your freezer is in the basement or garage, you may not hear it.
