This game is not only fun as bought, but also has many downloadable songs. The new songs come out every week. There are so many goals and challenges that I havent completed even 60% of them... and Im a hardcore gamer. Rockband is great for anyone who loves music and cannot play an instrument. Although it serves as a great transition for those who want to learn! I especially enjoy the game while playing with my fiance' and kids durring family time. Its also awesome to play with friends during those "BYOB" nights. (Pun Intended)

Just got the game yesterday, but played it with the family last night. I own all the Rock Band games, as well as Guitar Hero. Rock Band 3 is hands down a better playing experience than previous editions. The way you can build your character and band is pretty cool. There are quite a few goals that can be attained. Now I'm getting the keyboard peripheral today, so we'll see how that goes. I was a little apprehensive about the songs (not much rock), but because of the keyboard addition, the songs make sense.

Added some cool features, dropping in and out and switching difficulty while playing is awesome. Also pausing and the rewind feature is a big improvement. Great game. The added songs were ok, just seemed to be needing more hits/popular songs. Overall another great RockBand game. Five Stars

I got really excited when I played this game! I've been waiting for months for its release. I can finally play John Lennon's Imagine, Paramore's Misery Business, and other great songs. Other Rock Band titles' songs can be exported to Rock Band 3 except The Beatles: Rock Band, and DLC is automatically exported to this new game. Love the extra keyboard player, Pro Mode, graphics, and easy access to the game! Way better than any Guitar Hero game.

Cymbal support is nice, tour is lacking

A nice addition to the Rock Band collection, I particularly like the support for the triple cymbal expansion for the drums. I used the cymbals in Rock Band 2, but they felt more cosmetic since it didn't differentiate the toms and cymbals. With support for the cymbals, it feels like playing an actual drum set now.
The lack of an extensive tour like in Rock Band 2 was disappointing. The road challenge was very short, and couldn’t not be completed independently, since it required you unlock many other "achievements" in other parts of the game to unlock and continue the challenges.
Overall still a fun game to play with the family.

This game definately took suggestions from the last games and made it better! The no-fail modes are great for kids. I love the ability for Band members to join or drop out during the song rather than going back to the start menu! Makes it easy to use for partys!

New songs and DL's are keyboard orientated

If you plan on buying this game, you might as well buy the keyboard at least, too. There must have been quite a backlog of keyboard-centric music they were just waiting to release. In prior versions, the rare keyboard solo of a song was usually up to the guitar player to play, and even though I thought it was funny that I was playing a keyboard part with a "guitar", but just sitting there or strumming one easy note was not a fun alternative. In RB3, that is what I am doing now. Now I sit around more than ever with the new songs. The keyboard and the pro guitar are the new add ons, and the efforts at making this a fresh reboot are focused on music that they work well with. You can import just about everything from RB1 ,RB2 and RBGreenDay, and ACDCLive if you own them for $10 more each, but no import option for The Beatles. Some of the recent DL's available are remakes of songs already in RB - they just have had the keyboard and guitar mode added. Beware if you are a Bon Jovi fan, some of the recent offerings are already in your library!
Unfortunately, I found disappointment for the person who like to play the "guitar" since my option for both is gone. If you just like to play guitar you might as well just stick to RB2, since the only addition songs you will get are more keyboard oriented, anyways. And who cares about the graphics? A nice addition would be to have a fractal visualizer instead of silly cartoons. I still have a great time playing, so it is still 5 star fun for me. I haven't bought it yet, but I might still buy the keyboard eventually just to play Yes - Roundabout. It's just that I spent $60 on this game, $100 on Guitar Hero 5 earlier (because I needed ANOTHER new guitar, on my 8th one! Ok, I do beat the cr@p out of them.), $10 to transfer RB2 into RB3, and after that is it might hard to justify buying another plastic object I am probably going to have to replace every year, too. Expensive fun!
