Synopsis
Whether you want to learn with your favorite axe from the closet, a guitar sitting in your attic or one that's displayed in the store window down the street, Rocksmith is the first and only music game where you can plug in an actual, real guitar. There's nothing plastic or fake about this gameplay experience. Grab your pick and the guitar to start developing authentic skills and learning real styles while playing tunes from an amazing library of songs. From skilled musicians to those who have never picked up a guitar, Rocksmith delivers an engaging and innovative experience that gets you ready for the stage.
As long as your guitar has a jack, you can play it with Rocksmith on your PC. Featuring a unique 1/4"-to-USB cable, Rocksmith lets you plug any real guitar or bass guitar with a 1/4" jack directly into your computer. Designed exclusively for Rocksmith, this innovative 11.25' cable converts your guitar's signal from analog to digital so it can be recognized and played on your PC. Boasting dozens of difficulty levels, Rocksmith automatically adjusts to your personal ability, allowing you to progress from plucking single notes to strumming complex chords without becoming overwhelmed. You can even improve your bass skills, including two-finger plucking, slapping and popping, with challenges, tutorials and mini games. Play some of your favorite songs from different genres and artists, including The Rolling Stones, The Black Keys, Nirvana, Radiohead and more, and learn to play them from memory when you're challenged to step away from the on-screen notes. You'll be ready for the limelight in no time.

Excellent learning method
Excellent learning tool for someone wanting to learn to play the guitar. Gameplay is much like Guitar Hero except you're using an actual guitar as a controller so you're learning real chords to real songs. However, it doesn't have a feature where it shows the fingerings for the chords being played. So there's a bit of guess work as to how you play the notes. However, it DOES show the string and the fret to press down. Just not what fingers to use.

Great game to learn guitar or Bass guitar.
If you have a child learning to play a guitar or bass, and is struggling Rocksmith is the best way for him or her to learn to play guitar or Bass guitar. don't lose the instructor it doesn't teach you how to read music. Take is from this 43 year old Rocksmith is a great tool to learn how to play songs and the instrument. The skill building tools like scales and techniques really put to shame most of the instructional software on the market these days. downloadable content is affordable just not rated a Parent really shouldn't worry in my opinion. With State budgets tightening and art/music not being a priority as it once was, and the next on the chopping block. Rocksmith get a definite ***** star rating.

great game and learning tool
I got this for Christmas, and I'm have a blast with it. Lot of great jams on it and can add a lot more from on line source. I have a 1968 Kay semihollow body electric guitar, plugged right in working great.
