Used this player for 5 years. It worked fine. The front door for the disk slot fell off over time

MKV support. I wanted to put that at the top of the list. People also now know MKV as DIVX-HD. I bought this player new for $179.99 6 months ago, and it is worth every penny. It does everything it says it does. I can even stream 1080p videos from my home PC through my network (I use a wired connection, as I think you have to pay extra for the wireless adapter for this. Wired connection is better anyway though). I had a 15 GB movie that I just watched directly from my hard drive. Flawless playback. Blu-ray playback and DVD is also super smooth. Easy, simple to use and understand interface. The remote is big and kind of blah looking, but it performs the functions very well. Kind of funny really. Cutting edge looking player, and 15 year old looking remote lol. But really, who cares about the remote. I use it when necessary, but I have a Harmony remote that I use for my setup. There is no player on this planet that will play as many formats as this at this price point. Going to buy another one. For those wanting to know what formats it supports, here you go: First, I also want to say that you can burn AVCHD or Blu-ray prepared folders or ISO's burned to regular and dual-layer DVD's. I have played .avi, divx, mkv, mp4 (standard and HD), and WMV. Supports pretty much all the major audio formats. I have personally used .aac, mp3, ac3, dts, mp4, m4a, and WMA. You can hookup an external hard drive, or a flash drive (some people call it a thumb drive). Only drawback if there is one, is that you cannot stream MKV. You can however stream HD-MP4 up to 1080p. If you have MKV, you just need to extract the streams, remux into mp4 (takes like 2-5 minutes to do this) container, and now you can stream it. Maybe a firmware update will address this issue. It also supports many different applications like Netflix, VUDU, Cinema Now, Pandora, Blockbuster, Picassa (for photos), and Facebook to name a few. I hope this long review helps someone, but this really is a no-brainer for the price.

Surprisingly versatile player-Downloader's Dream

This is my fourth bluray player and the only one that lives up to its advertised capabilities and my demands. It plays nearly every file format one can download and the picture quality is perfect. It does a specially good job with the high definition mkv, avi [xvid and divx], wmv, mp4, and every other format I've encountered except m2ts-which WD media player takes care of. The unit, remote, and hdmi cable looked brand new. I will not miss the wireless adapter, because I prefer a cable connection for streaming HD video with 5.1 audio. All in all an excellent bargain.

This is a great device and the price to buy it refurbished can't be beat. The blu ray player has no visible signs of use on its exterior. It looks and plays just like new. Samsung has done an impeccable job creating a slim, beautiful blu ray player. Great value, incredible picture, and easy to set up and connect to the internet via ethernet. I have two issues with this device: first it often freezes when accessing the different apps and must be turned off and on again in order to work; second, it takes several seconds to turn on and connect to the internet to use the online apps. If this device didn't freeze and was able to load faster, it would be the perfect blu ray player. For the price though, this is a great unit.

Value for price: 5 stars. Player + HDMI cable + shipping & tax = less than $110. Have used the player heavily with very minimal problems (a few start up problems (resolved by turning off the unit for a Player performance has been very good.
Picture quality: 5 stars. Recommend 24fps setting when watching Blu-rays. DVDs upconvert noticeably. Netflix streaming looks great but quality varies depending on film (most are near DVD quality).
Ease of use: 4 stars. Still finding my way around the remote control, but also have a Samsung TV so one remote now operates both the TV and Blu-ray player. Stop, Play, Pause and arrow buttons on remote are glow-in-the-dark. Netflix and Pandora apps very easy to use.
Ease of set up: 3 stars. Physical set up was a breeze. Some of the apps such as YouTube are a bit of a hassle to set up. Netflix is simple to use but start your Watch Instantly queue now and you'll be ready to go when you start to set up. No batteries for remote in the box, which required a trip to the store (takes 2 AAAs). Unit is 5 inches wider than the DVD player it replaced - you'll need some shelf space.
Overall: 4 stars. For a first player it has been a great value at a great price.

It arrived in a simple brown box. Easy to hook-up. So far no problems. There was to be 2 AA batteries in the box. There was not, but everything else was there. I am using the HDMI cable, and other than connecting the cable and power cord, there was nothing else to do except put in the disc and press play. There are many other things that you can do, but you don't need to do any of them to watch a DVD.

This is my 1st Blu-ray player, I took my sweet time looking for the right one, and at the right value. Using my Rewards point this little guy came up to $50 in total. I currently have a 42inch LG from Bestbuy that I've bought close to a year go. I wanted a Blu-ray that had a lot of Internet apps, as well as Netflix. I've never used Netflix before, so I wanted this Blueray to go along with my new membership.
Streaming Netflix is fun, and easy :) I love the internet apps as well. The Blu-ray quality is phenomenal! It is so crisp and sharp! The audio is great too! I love the fact that this Blu-ray player comes with the hdmi cable too!
I have really no complains about this Blu-ray play, I got it for a nice bargain :) Regardless is a refurbished player it works/plays like its brand new. I would recommend this player to anyone who is looking to buy this 1st Blu-ray player.

I have had this device for a little over a week now and have tried using everything this machine has to offer from the Samsung apps (Netflix, Twitter, Hulu+), DVDs, burned DVDs, BD, files on zip drives and so on and everything has worked perfectly. BDs play exceptionally well with no issues so far. I'm happy to have gotten such a great BD player for such a great price as well as the HDMI cable. Load times are a bit on the sluggish side but not a real complaint merely an observation on my part. My batteries were missing but that wasn't really a big deal. I'm glad to finally have a great BluRay player and super happy I didn't break the bank getting one!
A:AnswerCurrently, the only wireless adapter that can be used with the appropriate Samsung BD Players is the Samsung Linkstick WIS09ABGN. The reason for this is that all other usb wireless adapters require drivers to work. Since there is no feasible way to transfer and save hundreds of different drivers for each adapter on the players, Samsung created a USB wireless adapter that will work 100% of the time (plug-n-play), with out drivers.
