Ugh just dont.
||Posted .I wish i could give zero stars. The guy came out and installed my thermostat, was having trouble with it working. Then said its working took a picture that the thermostat was on. Went to go turn my A/C down like i do every night and nothing but HOT air comes out. Not only am i still not getting someone out here to fix it right away i have been hung up and lied to almost every step of the way. I live in Texas where the day got up to 100 degrees one day and 93 today. Also, There are no supervisors to ever talk to.

Had to re-wire
||Posted .Expensive considering I had to rewire both thermostats for my heat to work. Also they arrived with to install two and They only had one thermostat with them. Partly my fault as somehow I only ordered one yet I don’t know how they don’t sort that out knowing they’re coming to install two when they only have one in their possession. If you have them install test your AC and your heat before they leave. They wired both thermostats as if I had an outdoor heat pump system which in New England would be pretty rare. I spent probably a couple of hours trying to troubleshoot. I finally disconnected the power and looked up videos on wiring and was finally able to rewire both thermostats so that they work properly. Otherwise my heat would not come on. It was frustrating.

Partial Thermostat Installation
||Posted .The installation tech was very friendly but only able to install the downstairs theromstat. I notified my Best Buy customer care representative. He was looking into it but i never heard back. The thermostat is sitting in my upstairs bonus room, the pieces on a banister. It appeared the tech also damaged on of the installation components which i also conveyed to the customer care Rep. I'm disappointed at the lack of follow up having spent several thousand dollars with Best Buy over the past 12 months.

Always nice to have an expert install things
||Posted .Turns out it would not of been that difficult for me to do it myself but it’s always nice to have an expert set things up for you. He wasn’t very talkative and could not answer the questions I asked but I think that’s because it was not someone from geek squad but a different company unrelated to Best Buy. That’s why I still give it five stars because there installs are worth it if you have the total tech membership. This guy just wasn’t as good as the guys that did all of my other installs.

Q: QuestionNeed to install Nest Learning Thermostat. Current thermostat has only three wires. Nest need extra power wire (C) and a cooling wire. Will you install these wires from furnace to the thermostat along with the NEST thermostat installation? Thanks
Asked by RC.
- A:Answer Thanks for your question. Generally, Geek Squad does not perform any engineering or advanced rewiring services.

Q: QuestionI have a Whole house humdifier. Will geek squad integrate with my nest thermostat installation.
Asked by Raj.
- A:Answer Raj, The Nest Thermostat will work with a humidifier - I would suggest contacting a HVAC company to wire / install. Its tricky if you have more than one Nest thermostat. Mine had to be wired as a 1 wire system and outside of the control boards for my lenox system.

Q: QuestionDo you need to already have an existing C-Wire for the installation or will they use a PEK(power extender kit)?
Asked by Anonymous.
- A:Answer The tech they sent to my home did not know how to do PEK and was unwilling to spend a few minutes reading the instructions. I was refunded my fee and had another company do it the next day.

Q: QuestionI recently installed a honeywell lyric and it will not connect to my wifi and I can't connect to the app. Can the GeeK squad fix that?
Asked by Jamie0604.
- A:Answer These new thermostats have so many functions that I think a member of the Geek Squad is well worth the money to have it installed. They installed ours and it was expensive because we live 2 hours from them, but it was worth EVERY dime!! Hope you decide to call them!!

Q: QuestionMy existing thermostats are old 120v thermostats. How much additional will it cost me to install a smart thermostat? I believe all of the smart thermostats are 24v? I'm assuming that I'll also need to purchase and install a 120v - 24v transformer?
Asked by CL.
- A:Answer Found this on the internet hope it helps: I ended up going to Home Depot and picking up a Honeywell step-down transformer. The model number is AT72D1006. It steps down the 120v to 24v. The picture on the HD website is incorrect. The transformer is mounted to a 4" box plate cover, perfect for my situation. ** Turn off power to the 120v circuit before working ** ** Make sure you wire the Transformer correctly. If you wire it backwards it will step 120v up to 600v. The leads coming off the transformer go to 120v, the 24v wire attaches to the screw terminals ** http://www.doityourself.com/forum/thermostatic-controls/479706-help-moving-line-low-voltage-thermostat-power-oil-hw.html
